Crab Town, San Diego CA

My family used to come here all the time when we lived in San Diego a few years ago. We recently visited since we are on vacation here. The prices are way too expensive. We were charged $45 a pound for snow crab. That's absolutely ridiculous. We had a party of 6.4 pounds of snow crab, 1 pound of shrimp. 1 pound of clams and a few apps; bill was over $350! No alcoholic drinks either. It's so sad becuz we really loved this place. The food is good but when you are paying prices that surpass the prices that you typically pay at fancy high-end steak and seafood houses. It's an automatic pass. We'll miss you crabtown.

I've been to Crab Town several times and it never disappoints! The food is great, service is awesome, staff is friendly. Highly recommend!

Best seafood boil I’ve ever had. Visiting from Chicago and used to being spoiled with great flavors- Crab town didn’t disappoint one bit! Not to mention great customer service, no reservations needed, no wait, no hassle parking. 11/10 experience!

What a fun place to eat. THE BEST Louisiana style seafood I have ever had. Jimmy our server shared the secrets on how to take and dip your crab back into the bad of amazing flavored juice packed with garlic. I highly recommend this place.

The food was excellent and delicious. I chose the original mild sauce, and it was good; the waiting time was minimum, and I highly recommend it.

What can I say! Crab Town. Nothing else to say. Shrimp, andouille sausage, mussels, clams, potatoes and corn. And don't forget the crab legs! YES! Happy camper here.

Updated review 5 years later: times are tough for everyone, business and patrons. Our recent visit was very different than pre pandemic times. Prices have been steadily rising over the last years and is understood but perhaps they are too steep at 100 for combo. Plus sauce was watery and not very much, maybe 30% than from before. Asked for more sauce and there is an upcharge to the already upcharge bag. Really disappointed. With tip and four people, bill was 175. Hmmm. We used to be around the same price with 2 combos and more sauce.

Got the combo that has crab, crawfish, shrimp, corn, and potato with the house sauce. All comes in a big bag mixed together. Happiness in a bag

First time ordering a seafood boil from here expecting it to be delicious but I was completely wrong. The Sausage was extremely chewy, the corn AND potato were super hard, and the shrimp was also chewy; like a slimy gooey feel… The spice was there but the sauce was damn near nonexistent. Can’t believe I spent 40 bucks on something I expected to be amazing. I now know to go somewhere else whenever I order seafood boils. Not to mention, I did not receive any gloves for my takeout order. Is that something they don’t do anymore? Kinda disappointed. Couldn’t eat anything really besides the sausages but I fought the urge to throw it away then but I didn’t want to waste money. At the most I would rate this a 10/10 for spice. The restaurant alone maybe a 5/10. Workers are nice though…

This was terrible. I honestly cannot believe how people are raving about this place. We ordered the mussels and clams both with the crab town house sauce which should be full of flavor, but it wasn't. Absolutely bland. I can make better sauce than this with just old bay sauce, butter, salt, lemon pepper, and fresh garlic. We JUST finished eating this and I'm in total shock at how bland it was especially when seeing so many people talking about how great the flavor is. Pricey, little qty, and no taste. Never again.

They have great customer service. We got seated right the way and we got mega combo with garlic butter for four people. It was better than expected (not too salty, which is good)

Turned away at door due to not having a mask.understand being compliant but turn away long time customers vs. Supplying a mask to a paying customer?

I've been to many seafood boil restaurants, this one definitely takes the (crab) cake! The snow crab is always crisp here and easy to crack compared to other places where its soggy most of the time.

Food was amazing! Wings are okay, the mussels are amazing as well as the oysters! Come here if you are looking for a seafood experience!

The food was good and the service was great! We wanted to sit inside but the wait was longer so we chose outside. The wait for outside was about 10 mins but they got us a seat inside which was really nice! Once ordered our food came out really fast and it was nice and hot! We enjoyed our time there and hope to come back!

I took my husband here for the first time and he loved it. We each got a pound of shrimp and snowcrab legs with crawfish. Pricy but good and the serving sizes are perfect!

Visiting from out of town. Ordered $400 worth of food but sent the calamari back because it tasted old and was not good. Only ate 1 piece but manager said we had to pay. Wasn't even given the option to exchange for something else. We decided to cancel our order and leave. Any business willing to sacrifice $400 for a $10 basket of old calamari is not worth my business. Crab Hut is 4 minutes away with better service.

One of my preferred places for tasty Seafood. I often meet people here to talk. The service was very helpful and welcoming. It has a great atmosphere.

Found a new seafood boil restaurant. One of the best If not the best. Great flavor and spice to the boil! Plentiful serving. Service was great. Definitely earned a new customer. Highly recommended!

We have returned several times after this post. Always great. The last time we ordered the same crab boil. House spice and MILD. Once home started feasting. We immediatly noticed the MILD wasn't MILD. Couldn't eat it. TOO HOT. Called them and they would replace it. Was made to feel I had a sensitivity problem. Stated we had always ordered the MILD with no issues. Manager wasn't courteous. Got home and noticed the new order was not a full order. I stated we removed the crayfish heads, clam shells (weight). Ate 2 potatoes, 3 slices of sausage & 1 crab leg. Apparently they weighed what we brought back and removed items. Really cheap to do this as we didn't get what we ordered to start with. Returning the order was a 50 mile round trip.
We will not go back. They lost a customer. Not the way to treat returning customers or any customers. If the manager was having a bad day he should have stayed home. No excuse. The customer is not always right but they got the order wrong to start with. I was made to feel I was in the wrong or had sensitivities to spices.

If you like Crab Town this is by far the best I've ever had. Came here when on vacation and had a great time. Their margaritas are excellent too. Always very a reservation, especially on weekends.
