Crystal Lake Recreation and Picnic Area reviews
9It’s my first time to visit in Fall and it looks so different from other time. Lots of plants on the lake make lakes look green rather blue. But view from top looks blue. It’s just snowing today so probably will look white.
The lake is not quite crystal clear but still worth a visit. There is a short trail that goes around the outside of the lake, and you can walk here from the campground. You can also park at the Islip-Wawona Trailhead and walk 2 mins to the lake.
The campgrounds and walking trails are really nice. Came here as a teenager 50 years back. The main road to wrightwood is still closed all this time.
It's been a long time since I visited on a fishing trip. The lake was small and the fish weren't biteing but the short hike to the lake was fun and the scenery was fantastic.
Super friendly Owner and great chef to feed you fresh American food to order and fast. Sitting is indoors and out doors. There is a convenience and supply store for anything a camper could possibly need. Cabins are available for rent as well as camp grounds for just 10 bucks.nixe pine forest and a sage environment. Crystal Lake is 1-2 miles from the Cafe. It is the only Natural Lake IN San Gabriel Mountains.
Crystal Lake is the only natural lake in the San Gabriel Mountains, in northern Los Angeles County.
Nice place went with my kid easy hike lake was full of algae, seen a couple small fish and son had fun catching frogs. Alot of flies
I remember camping here when I was little. Wow not big as I had remembered but overall it is beautiful and serene.
Driving up HWY 39 was phenomenal anyone that like mountain roads will enjoy especially if you drive a sporty sedan or motorcycle. The lake has a great view of steep cliffs jagged rock tall firs, cedars and redwoods. I saw 6 does on my way out and 3 on my way in. The lake has some fish but they weren't biting when i went. The lake itself is very low/small, has alot of plants in it, I saw lots of trash in the water too. The views are worth the drive (clean RR plenty of parking), the cesspool of a lake not so much.
