Da Hickory House BBQ - Oxnard

I ordered the 3 meat meal with mild sauce macaroni salad and extra sauce. The tri tip was raw! And the sauce was hot as hell and I didn't get the macaroni. I will never go back. To top it off I offered to send them a picture and they still refused to make it right. By replacing or refund. I spent over $120.00 in less than a week and every time I ordered it got worse. NEVER AGAIN

Big portion and good bbq sauce, but that's it. The tri-tip is not great, and customer service was lacking. Both staff members went from taking orders to handling food without putting on gloves or washing their hands. First and last time here.

I had a terrific Tri-Tip sandwich. I was very pleasantly surprised by the amount and quality of the meat. The roll was toasted and the BBQ sauce was outstanding. Yum!

The order was skimpy for forty-one U. S.dollar's. No senior or Labor Day courtesy. At least Golden Coral show's us seniors some love! My comment is not to be taken as an opinion. I'm speaking from an retired Food & Nutrition chef point of view. I wasn't given a menu although there is one high up on the wall almost touching the ceiling. I thought the lunch/Dinners were going to be more than what was offered. Meaning 1lb. Tri Tip or 1/2 lb. I could see it underneath a 3-4inch French bread loaf. 5slices. Rib also was hidden underneath the same. No Way? This was $18 dollar's for each plate. Potato salad, macaroni salad, beans were straight out the can. Salad's we're in less than 4oz cup's, $18x2=36 + tax total $41 dollar's. Besides I went there to support a spot that advertised BBQ grillin. Two of my family members purchased a very large order for an anniversary event, The other time we're just for four family members. I'm perplexed. It's going to be a long time for me. Can't say how long. Da Hickory has been around, but operating A-BBQ spot don't last long not putting food on the plate. You make up the difference on those who Vibe off good cooking with a smile. You do yourself a favor and come in one day as a customer. You've seen the TV series UnderCover Boss. That's Game. For Free.

big mistake in this case. Should have gone to Busters.
I ordered the two meat plate, hot links and chicken breast. The chicken was dry and tasteless, the hot links were ok, but how can you screw them up?
The kid at the counter said they had baked beans. They don't. Maybe he doesn't know the difference between, them and chili beans?
My wife got a two meat plate, with tri-tip and pork ribs. After waiting for a while the kid came over to our table and told her they were out of pork ribs. She opted for beef ribs instead.
The tri-tip was dry and tasteless, neither beef rib had any flavor, and had no meat.
We usually bring our un-eaten dinner home to have later. We threw the majority of both dinners away.
Very disappointing and it wasn't cheap.

The sides and beef ribs were lacking flavor and the ribs weren't tender enough. This is a No for me. Thanks.

1st time comming. Great customer service. Coleslaw could have the same container though.
Other than I'm happy

Went for lunch I had the tri tip with pot beans coleslaw and potatoe salad plus garlic bread, the meat servings I got plenty I was a little disappointed on the beans I was hoping for chili beans instead of reg beans garlic bread could of used more garlic but was buttery enough, the coleslaw was delicious not crazy about potato but the mild sauce was delicious definitely will be going back

I've been here for lunch before and it was great so I thought I would try dinner mistake fortunately the sandwich meat was hot from being slapped back on the grill and my wife enjoyed it, my beef ribs however were just room temperature and not very enjoyable, to the managment at least get the employees a microwave convection oven to heat items up perhaps it would create more business and not be so slow. Oh I almost forgot, about the shot size side dishes they can be at least a double shot KFC serves larger portions. Don't mean to be so negative on a day to give thanks. At least your employees are poite

Me and the hubby came for a lunch date. We got the brisket sandwich. It was amazing. I loved their bbq sauce, lil spicy, sweet and tangy the meat was really good. Let me say customer service was great. The owner was so friendly and nice. We will be coming back soon.

OMG! The Trip Tip sandwich was so juicy and tender the bread was buttery and crispy. The beef ribs are so big and meaty! The BBQ sauce spicy and delicious! Found my favorite BBQ spot!

Hot link sandwich was spicy and the small tritip salad was large. Very good quality barbque. A little pricey for my taste.

We’ve eaten here and even had delivery a few times the past couple months, today went and ordered in the restaurant as we were in the area. Worst food ever, Tri tip dried out, not moist at all. $4.25 for one hot link? Seriously?
Will never return, extremely disappointed ️

Tri- tip dry, chicken thin and dry, bbq sauce good and it is all expensive for what you get.

First timer. Nothing bad to say. I got the tri tip. It was delicious. The staff was friendly. I would definitely return to try their other dishes.

The food is pretty good here. I guess it has to be pricey to stay in business. Five sandwiches and one order of fries for $85. We need to support these smaller business.

Really hate giving a low mark especially after a difficult year but help was no help even after saying we're first timer's. Then got the food pulled pork sandwich. Pork very dry. BBQ sauce tasted like it had cinnamon or nutmeg in it. Ordered potato salad and coleslaw. Picking up my order help says out of coleslaw. It's only 11: 30am! Wife had the small salad with chicken and didn't get through it. Chicken was the dryest we've ever had. Chicken can be amazing but if dry can be the worst. Both came to $31. Expensive for what you get and not good.

I ordered take out after a long day of work. The waitress was rude when taking my order. I still left her a tip because we can all have a bad day. But what gross me out was the cook. Another customer was waiting to pay. The waitress was busy so the cook walked up and took the CASH payment walked back to preparing the food! I got so disgusted. We're in the middle of a pandemic he wasn't even wearing gloves. Trust me I kept my eyes on him. The cook didn't bother washing his hands. This is not acceptable. I was in shock I didn't say anything I took my food walked out and threw it away on the way to my car. Major food handling violation!
