What should I do in Japanese restaurant while some americans are talking too loud?

In a situation where fellow diners are being too loud in a restaurant, it's generally best to handle it with tact and politeness. Here are a few steps you could consider:

1. **Self-assessment**: First, check if their volume is indeed excessively loud or if it's a normal conversation level for a public place.
[I put the earplug on to protect my hearing. ]

2. **Move Away**: If possible, ask the restaurant staff if you can move to a quieter table.
[This is a small place. ]

3. **Communicate with the Staff**: If moving isn't an option, you might consider speaking to the restaurant staff or management. They are usually trained to handle such situations diplomatically.
[Staff is busy and understaffed even for bringing dishes to the side of our desk. ]

4. **Direct but Polite Approach**: If you feel comfortable, you could approach the individuals directly. Do so politely and calmly, expressing that their conversation volume is a bit high and is disturbing your dining experience.
[Some of them speaks Chinese but they just pretend to ignore our complaints. ]

Remember, every situation is different and requires a judgement call. It's important to stay respectful and considerate in your approach.
[I am wondering what else I can do to deal with this situation? ]

Have been here twice and was impressed both times. It is pricey, but everything was tasty and high-quality. Particularly enjoyed the oyster mushroom tempura, the hand rolls, and the green tea cheesecake. Will be back.

Daigo Sushi @daigosushi by Chef Eric @daigo_paloalto
.
This is the 2nd visit to this place and we choose to design our own "omakase" today I just keep order more and more of all the fishie I love! (See the list/ more pics in next post)
.
We reckon this place another great sushi bar. Lot's of fresh ingredients, variety, cozy and warm atmosphere.
.
Sitting at the fish counter makes such a different. The food is served and eaten fast (Last time we sat outside, although the service is excellent, the nigiri still taste a little different).
.
We will definitely visit again.
We actually want to visit again before we leave but our schedule is fully packed. But next time we visit the Bay Area we definitely will!

This nondescript place is such a gem! Always a favorite for sushi and omakase.
Friendly staff.
Food never disappoints.

Daigo, nestled in the heart (an absolute hole in the wall in case you don't happen to have an intention of eating some amazing Sushi and are standing right outside to be seated) of Palo Alto is a culinary haven for lovers of authentic Japanese cuisine.

Parking can definitely be challenging in Palo Alto in general and this wasn't an exception with Daigo, though you can park a couple blocks down in a public parking lot and its a few minutes walk

The restaurant's ambiance exudes elegance and tranquility. With its minimalist decor, traditional Japanese aesthetics, and soft lighting, Daigo provides a serene and intimate dining atmosphere.

The service at Daigo is impeccable. The staff is not only attentive but also incredibly knowledgeable about Japanese cuisine and the menu offerings. They patiently guided us through the menu, explaining the ingredients and preparation techniques every time they served the Omakase menu.

Coming to our food for the night, we order an Omakase UNI and as well WAGYU, wrapping that up with the Cheesecake and ice-cream. The Omakase menu is definitely crafted with fresh sources of seafood and served in a pristine fashion. Each course was filled with flavors and textures that we definitely would crave and expect from authentic Japanese cuisine and as well the presentation was super artful. Every dish was a testament to the chef's dedication to excellence.

Daigo falls on the higher end of the price spectrum, but it's a place where you're paying for the quality and authenticity of the dining experience. Given the exceptional quality of the food and service, it's well worth the occasional splurge for a special occasion.

A definite hidden gem that deserves recognition among the finest Japanese restaurants in the Bay Area and an absolute candidate for a Michelin *. From the serene ambiance to the exquisite culinary offerings, it's an establishment that caters to those seeking an authentic and memorable dining experience.

We are definitely going to go back for more!

Love this place! The sushi is fresh and delicious and the service is fantastic. If the person who told me they remember me sees this, thank you so much for your kindness and amazing service. Keep up the amazing work!

Maybe my expectation is too high… the food is good but not that good? There are def other Japanese restaurants around the area which provide the same level of food

The omakase sushi set wasn't enough, so I ordered additional fried food. It was a bit disappointing to drink sake because there were no soup dishes such as nabe or ramen.

Outdoor seating is a bit cramped if you’re in the back corner, but no complaints about the food. Appetizers and nigiri sushi were all excellent.

Something has changed - Daigo was my go-to spot for sushi, but wondering if they might be under new management? Last evening’s dinner was significantly subpar compared to the meals I’ve enjoyed here over the past 4 years. The atypical presentation I noticed included: otoro nigiri was dressed with quite a bit of soy sauce (usually has none) which detracted from its natural flavor and the sushi rice was cold (not mouth temperature). I noticed the sushi rice in the maki rolls also had soy sauce and the fish itself was cold (like it had been too close to / too long on ice). You can see the evidence of soy sauce in the uploaded photos (especially the light brown color of the rolls).

I’ve never seen this inconsistency before, and I’m really hoping it was just a one-off bad night but the experience was off putting enough that I will carefully read the newest reviews here before dining at Daigo again (sadly).

Incredible Japanese food and drink in a beautiful setting. The ambient noise from other tables' conversations was a bit loud, as we were on the patio. Overall the ambience was very nice, service was excellent and food was delicious.

Very high quality sushi, fantastic service. Just hard to get a table as they don’t have any online reservation. Got to call them between 3 to 5 pm before they open to make a reservation.

The nigiris and sushi rolls were really good, except for the fried tuna roll which was pretty bad. I was unimpressed by the fish collar which was a bit dry.

We sat outside under the gazebo, but it got windy and cold towards the end, even with the stoves on.
