Dan Tana's reviews
22If you can, go and have the famous chicken parmesan with garlic spaghetti, the Caesar salad and the cheese garlic bread. Oh and a Martini. Gin. Dirty.
Best meatballs I ever had. Ordered them on the side. They will sell them as individual so you can get as many as you want. The sauce was a bolognese with the perfect acidic balance. Tomatoes can be quite acidic and these were like a fine crafted vintage wine. Ceasar salad had a lot of dressing on it and my friend liked it, but I prefer a little less dressing.
First off, I have been reading reviews about the horrible wait time. I did not experience this on my visit tonight. I was seated immediately.
We ordered the Caesar Salad which was pretty good. B grade. We then ordered the Veal Piccata and the Tana Chicken. The waiter did mention they might taste similar. He was 100% correct they tasted exactly the same. Grade C. The side of Spaghetti with meat sauce was terrible. I was disappointed. Grade C- My fault for not listening to the waiters suggestion. For dessert I had the Cappuccino Chocolate Ice Cream. It was fantastic. Grade A. We received our food promptly and was not rushed to finish our dinner. Overall Grade B-/C+. I will however be back.
Excellent italian food. It gets very packed ap you'll need to make a reservation in advance. Their chicken parmesan was great.
Very very bad. I wish I could give 0 star
Elizabeth is the person in charge. No manners.she is yelling at everyone. She can not run the place and this is the the job for her.
We waited for 1 hour and 30 min and she did not set us
We had a reservation for 4 people for 8 pm and we left at 9: 30 to a another restaurant.
Great old-school hang in the heart of West Hollywood. Excellent food and great service from very knowledgeable wait staff. Put this on your list for any visit to Los Angeles.
Had heard that the wait staff was rude and to expect a wait. Needed to review Dan Tana's to dispel the myth. Got there early, no wait, and the waiters could not possibly have been friendlier. Dan Tana's Caesar Salad is unlike any I've ever had before-it won't taste like any you've tried before either, and you'll like it as much as I did too. The shrimp parm was excellent as well. A thoroughly enjoyable experience.
The food is great, although they tend to drown their sauces in garlic. A little expensive, but the portions are large. Some reviewers may say the wait staff is rude, but they're more just like a New York restaurant. They don't take any flack, and expect you to ask for what you want when asked. Parking is best recommended to valet, as there isn't much street parking to speak of.
One of those places you have to visit if you ever get a chance. A part of Hollywood history. The Chicken Parm is historic and delicious.
A Hollywood classic, the food is always spot on! Service this last time we went had room for improvement, but I have had so many great meals here that it still gets five stars in my book.
Amazing spot. Best lamb chops (medium rare plus) I’ve ever had. Excellent service and fun banter with the wait staff.
The absolute best white fish, fettuccine and delicious cocktails. Well worth going! Mike's the endbarter, there.have fun!
A phenomenal and legendary West Hollywood restaurant. Reservations are strongly recommended. A great atmosphere that's old-fashioned yet inviting. Without a doubt, order the chicken or veal parm. Best I have ever had, or will have!
Best Caeser salad of my life. Hands down.
Now that that's out of the way, here are some more reasons Dan Tana's is great: drinks with heavy pours, amazing garlic cheese bread, amazing NY strip, good pasta.
Unfortunately, the place is teeny tiny and the booths are super uncomfortable. When compared to everything else, it almost doesn't even matter.
This place is old school Hollywood at its best.on any given night you can dine in style with Hollywood royalty. Gucci!
By far my most favorite restraunt in LA. These folks serve up the most delicious steaks you have ever had. Shrimp is incredible. I sat next to sophia loren last time i was here and she is as gorgeous as ever. Always the best time and what a staff. MAKE RESERVATIONS A WEEK OR MORE IN ADVANCE AND ARRIVE EARLY. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY BUSY PLACE. A LOCAL FAVORITE FOR 50 YEARS AT LEAST.
What a trip! Awesome people watching, with every type of LA type represented. The maitre d on the night we went was awesome. We showed him our reservation and he looked at us, pointed at the bar and said, "Go get drunk. " We obliged.
Had our obligatory LA celeb sighting (Colin Jost).
All this would make the trip worth it, but we also great pasta!
So worth it!
Love the food service great very old school Italian! Still craving the chicken picatia so good!
Dan Tana's is a classic. It's loud and crowded with red checkered table cloths and Italian food like your mother made (if your mother was American and grew up in the 50's) and it's terrific. The service is immpecable (thank you Igor!) and the portions are large. Everything tasted great - from the ceasar salad to the veal parmigiana and I don't know how the got chocolate ice cream to be so delicious. Old school and terrific.
The warmest most welcoming restaurant in LA. The decor is classic and colourful, the staff are attentive, friendly and funny and the food is excellent.
