Daruma Dojo, Sunnyvale CA

I did not realize how lucky my son Lewis was for being able to train with Professor Juarez until we moved away. We have now experienced another BJJ dojo/gym, which is good but far from the level that Daruma offers. Professor Juarez is focused on what the kids should learn first; respect, safety, discipline, and fundamentals. From learning how to tie his belt, to shrimping, to break falls, these are all important things that other dojos maybe or may not teach their students. My son no longer being able to train at Daruma is probably the worst part of moving away from Sunnyvale. We wish the whole Daruma team nothing but success!

I train here when I’m in Cali on business. Coach Alberto is amazing and his gym is super welcoming to newcomers.

I absolutely love going to Daruma Dojo. Professor Alberto and the coaches are absolutely the best. I have been going for almost a year and lost 15 lbs from my Juijitsu Journey. This Dojo has a very welcoming, inclusive and safe culture for people of all ages, skill and fitness levels. It is very much a "choose your own adventure" kind of place - competition, self defense, casual fun and fitness - all good. The kids classes are a perfect balance of fun and training. My more timid child has shown big gains in self confidence in a short time. I feel I have as well. I wish we all started sooner.

I joined a year ago and I highly recommend this dojo! The instructors' expertise and supportive teaching style cater to all skill levels. It's a place where you'll grow, learn, and forge lasting connections within the BJJ community.

We've been sending our two little ones here for about an year to learn BJJ at Daruma Dojo and have had a very good experience with Professor Alberto, who is an awesome teacher of this art, and his superb team of coaches. Usual classes start off with kids doing warm up routines for a few minutes and then they go onto learning some BJJ techniques, followed by sparring sessions where they get to practice the techniques they have learnt in a safe, respectful and encouraging environment. At the end of the class there are some games that kids play for a few minutes. So they have fun and also learn some good BJJ skills at the same time. Overall, the training helps improve their physical and metal fitness. Nice, friendly atmosphere around where parents can sit and watch the kids train if they'd like. Highly recommend to anyone who is looking to send their little ones to learn BJJ.

Terrible Dojo! He asks for good reviews and pays for bad ones to be taken down. The place is overpriced and feels cold/hostile to new people.

The Jiu-Jitsu school is great! The joy with which my child goes there is incredibly inspiring. There is a wonderful atmosphere there - friendly and cheerful. The coaches are very attentive and caring, which makes the classes not only interesting, but also safe. I'm glad we chose this school!

Daruma dojo is a great place to train for beginning and advanced Jiu Jitsu practitioners. The gym is very clean and well ran by Professor Alberto and other fellow instructors. They have a lot of times for classes and open mats. The environment is very welcoming and everyone is willing to help.

Daruma Dojo is an amazing place to learn jiu jitsu. It's super fun chill vibes all around from Alberto as well as from everyone in class. There's a variety of class levels: kids/junior, youth, fundamentals, beyond fundamentals, all levels, women's open matt to name a few.
