Deerfield Lodge At Heavenly, South Lake Tahoe CA

I discovered this gem of a lodge in June 2013. It was my go-to for my biannual trips to Tahoe for almost a decade. I've seen it go through changes in ownership, a remodel due to fire and several managers and front desk staff over the years. I've referred countless friends and even my entire out-of-state family for a large reunion gathering. I loved this place. Priced right, excellent location, always clean and dog friendly. So imagine my surprise the last time I arrived for my annual fall stay and I was told by a young girl at the front desk that my reservation had been cancelled because I was "blacklisted". I'm sorry what? At first I sort of giggled because I assumed there had to be some kind of mistake. But she was dead serious and when I asked why, she told me the note in the computer said it was because I was rude to the girl at the front desk when I checked out the last time I was there. I was truly in disbelief. I'd just traveled 5 hours. I knew exactly what check out event the note she was referring to and I can assure you there was no part of my interaction with that girl that could have possibly been deemed worthy of being blacklisted. I was mortified. In summary, this was a great place until Jasmine was hired to manage it. This stunt was all her doing and she wasn't even present when I checked out that morning. So now instead of referring everyone I know to the Deerfield Lodge, I tell folks about my experience after being such a loyal patron for so long and I encourage them to stay elsewhere.

2 nights with our small dog and she loved it! Slept by the fireplace. Perfect kitchen set up with kuerrig coffee.

It's bittersweet sharing a place like this because I want to keep it all to myself but, it wouldn't be fair. We've enjoyed our stays every time we stay at DFL. Great rooms, staff location and cool little courtyard to play with the kids when it starts snowing.

The rooms are really nice and the grounds are very pretty. It was nice waking up and having a cup of coffee on the patio in the morning. Affordable rooms for the area.

Quiet and convenient location and nice courtyard view from the rooms. Walking distance to the great restaurants and the beach.

Absolutely LOVE this boutique lodge. It was exactly what I was looking for and needed. A quiet garden like luxurious experience where my dog was not only allowed but very welcomed at the property. I had the king room with the spa tub that allowed for full relaxation after a day of hiking or water sports. It was so nice to enjoy a quiet morning of devotions and meditation on my patio. The staff were incredibly friendly and responsive to any needs I had. All the guests were so friendly. The room itself was comfortable, accomodating, and met all my needs. I will definitely be returning.

This is an older lodge that has been updated and modernized. Not on the lake but we'll within walking distance.
Like many places here motels and restaurants, it has had to reduce services - a result of Covid and the recent Caldor fire. Many out of business, and it is quite here in South Lake Tahoe for high season.
This is a well maintained place to stay and relax/withdraw from the everyday world. Our second stay.

Enjoyed our stay. Room was clean and spacious. Loved the fireplace for the heat and ambiance. Nice location far enough away from the busy downtown. Loved the back patio area to sit and enjoy the beautiful June weather. Had a nest right outside our door with a beautiful bird sitting on her eggs.

A very peaceful two night stay the lodge. The hotel was very accommodating when we needed a late check out. The breakfast buffet had takeaway bags so you could enjoy in your room (and on the balcony of the room). A great find in Tahoe and good to see the hotel is working on a refurb program.

No running water in our room, and the staff had no interest in showing sympathy or attempting to address our frustration—sounded miffed and dismissive since it was a few minutes after their front desk closed at five.

Our room was clean, the staff was friendly and it was a great area to access the Tahoe Strip and trail heads! This was our second stay here.
A big plus for us is they are dog friendly! We had our two German Shepherd Dogs with us. They had a welcome basket for the pups with treats and towels for them and poop bags.
They had a nice array of pastry items and coffee in the morning.
The staff was friendly throughout our visit. We will stay here again!

First off, what a gem of a place. Quiet, located in a very tucked away place away from traffic. Absolutely loved the room and having a kitchen was a plus. Everything was perfect, including complimentary muffins, coffee, bagels and juice.
We had our 2 year old with us, so families should definitely consider staying here. We spent 2 nights.
Cons: neighbors next to us were very loud around 1 am on the 2nd night. Needless to say, it woke me up. It is always really unfortunate that people can be so inconsiderate, especially in a quiet, wonderful place. Also, no management on site after 6, however a cell phone number was provided. I didn't bother to text the number considering how late it was.
We will definitely be back and next time we will be sure to knock on the neighbors door and ask them to keep it down.

I had booked a place 2 months in advance and paid at time of purchase for a king bed room through Booking.com. At the time of booking there other rooms available to choose so there was a variety of rooms to choose from. With that said, I reserved activities and restaurant reservations to enjoy my first time in Tahoe.
The day before check in I receive a message through booking.com from the hotel saying they will not be able to accommodate my days I had already paid for in advance and were offering a one day stay and refund for the other days. I immediately called the hotel directly and left a voicemail. After not hearing back from the hotel after a couple hours I kept calling but still no answer, and kept going to voicemail. So I decided to cancel all together my reservation through booking.com since there was no answer from the Deerfield lodge all night. Booking.com was able to explain the situation that it was on the hotel that overbooked rooms and not able to accommodate to my stay. The following day in the morning around 10 am after I had already cancelled all my reservations and canceled my trip all together, Allie called and apologized for the inconvenience and said I would be able to stay one night there and other days at another location, but I did let her know the whole point of booking in advance was to have a secured place to stay and not have the hassle of going from one place to another. This was going to be our first time going to Tahoe and staying at this hotel but now I’m not making plans in the future to stay here due to the unreliable service and communication.

Loved my 3-day stay here during the snow. The staff were very friendly and eager to help with anything that I may have needed. I definitely recommend staying here

Enjoyed a two night stay here while skiing at Heavenly. Our room was perfect- tidy, cozy, and great to relax in after a day of skiing. 10/10 will stay again next time I come back!

We were very comfortable with the accommodations and the location. The staff was very friendly. Breakfast was very basic but adequate. If you are a coffee drinker they facilitate your habit.

Deerfield is the prefect place to stay in South Lake Tahoe! Convenient location, beautiful and spacious rooms, and exceptionally friendly and helpful staff. Will definitely be returning!

Deerfield Lodge will be my go to hotel from now on when I visit South Lake Tahoe staff is very friendly and accommodating. It's only a 5 minute drive from the main downtown area and 3 minutes away from the lake. They are dog friendly and have a open grass area for to walk your dog. It definitely feels homey in the lobby and in your room.
