Deervale-Stone Canyon Park reviews
14We didn't finish this. It is very steep, I think we got a little bit past half way before turning around. According to my Fitbit it was a 300ft elevation gain hike. Views are nice but you can get similar ones elsewhere. The path is very narrow so I recommend pants or else the dry grass will whip your legs. This hike isn't for people with bad knees or ankles, they really get a work out. We brought the dog and he was happy but basically trying to drag my slowness down the mountain. We parked on the north side of the path and the "entrance" just looks like a path on the side of a house. Good luck!
The trails start from top of the mountain and they go down the hill. The elevation is about 1550 ft. Very clean trails and beautiful view over looking big portion of the valley. Nice and quiet neighborhood.
Perfect hike if you're in the area. Best when cool out or a little overcast. Beautiful views and a cool little rock city shrine like thing someone put together.
Really just a little dry and somewhat steep neighborhood trail. Easy to get too, residential parking, decent views
I read reviews but went anyway to try a new hike and I got a ticket for over $200 - learned my lesson.
Not only were there some very sketchy people hiding along the hiking trail trying to scare you, but when I was done and went to get into my car, my mirror had been broken off. A friend told me something similar had happened to her, but I had to learn the hard way. DON'T HIKE HERE!
The route (Maps and Waze) took us to this dead end road at the south end of the park that did not have good access. The north end is probably better
Great place to hike, however. The increase in hikers to this nature reserve since the pandemic started has caused a lot of trash to be left behind. This is a protected reserve that is home to a lot of indigenous plant and wildlife. If you pack it in, pack it out. That includes your used dog dirt bags. Have some respect for our natural resources. Don't ruin access for everyone because you are careless and lazy. Pick up after yourselves.
The parking is horrible at this cul-de-sac location. I parked my car on Deervale Place and when I returned from my hike, there were several other cars blocking me, so I could not leave. I had to wait over an hour for the vehicle owner to return - who was not sorry he blocked me. This was horrific, but I thought I would try this hike again about a month later, and parked far down on Deervale Place, but once again had issues. This time, I returned from my hike to find my mirror broken off. DO NOT PARK ON DEERVALE PLACE - better yet - hike somewhere safer.
Was a great hike but DO NOT PARK HERE. It recently became private and isn't well posted. I got a wicked expensive ticket.
2 people were recently bitten by rattlesnakes on this hike. I would not chance it.the hike is super narrow and you cant see the snakes. Better off going to Fryman Canyon in Studio City!
Have to enter through residential area. It's very tricky and easy to miss. It's somewhat secluded but the views are nice. The path is also very narrow.
No place to park! They are ticketing and towing since this became a private street! Don't even bother.
This one gets steep in the middle. There is lots of loose dirt and places to slip. Wear good shoes and stay on the trail.
