What a shame that these employees have a position to assist the public and are so unhappy and helpless. It is as if they are working for free and doing us a favor. They have no notion of wanting to help. I get that it may not be a happy place to work and it can get stressful, dealing with the public, work may be redundant but it’s a customer facing job but they knew what they were signing up to when they were hired.
Their unwillingness to help is beyond words. First lady that called us to her window immediately greeted us by saying she couldn’t speak to me since ‘I was a 3rd party’ but the silliest thing was that my father was present. I understand privacy issues but they were not wanting me next to my dad even though he was present! Really?
My #1 goal was to provide moral support to my dad. I had to encourage my dad to step up to this matter that he has been dealing with for over 40 years! Clearly the nerves and intimidation level is high for anyone with child support matters; it takes bravery to step up and confront the reality of money, debt, family matters, etc. It is much easier to avoid and postpone child support matters and that is why there is a need for this department to exist in the first place. These employees are hired to guide the public, they are the subject matter experts and we are not. We need them to break it down and should be trained to deal with the public. Not everyone has the capacity to think clearly under these circumstances. The employees defensiveness and abrupt demeanor of “we needing them”
attitude is the forefront issue.

My #2 goal was to create efficiency for all, by making this short, sweet and to the point for everyone. Both my dad and I had to go to work and they also had a full day of work ahead of them. Instead, what transpired for the next 30 min was time wasted for all. I was trying to save everyone time and move fast to go on with our day, but instead they all stood their ground, did not want my dad to sign the release for me to speak to them since I was not an attorney. I am not, but we are also not at court. They reiterated like five times that if he needed a translator they could get one, and five times I responded that he did not need a translator. It was hard for them to understand why someone would need a “support person”.
At the end, my dad had a hard time grasping the details since it was a lot of information being shared at once. He wanted advice, guidance from their expertise, yet they are not there for that.
I have worked for 25 years with the public myself and have a clear understanding of all privacy policies and confidentiality as it pertains to personal information and that is why I was there with my dad, he was there, giving me permission to partake in this matter.

Very unprofessional. They won't even help the mothers who deal with deadbeats, but will take a good father's money away even tho he has the kid 90% of the time
