Desert View Park reviews
7I was expecting a “park”. But there’s no park. It’s just a round circled road and nothing really here but this view you can see. No parking area or literally nothing.
Great place for Easterly view of the horizon in the morning before dawn for comets etc.
Any time going to Julian a 5 min Stop here is a Requirement!
Peaceful views every time.
It's just a panoramic point, don't expect to be able to hike. But it's a very good view point, spectacular view. No facilities around.
Arrived at about 7: 30 pm in late May (Memorial Day Monday), with light still out but it was already cold and had to wear a jacket. This is not a standard park, it is an overlook into the desert below, ahead and on the right if the 180 degree view. It is quite expansive and breathtaking. There are no safety fencing while viewing the huge scenic desert and mountains so caution must be taken. This place is located a short drive from Julian on the way to Lake Cuyamaca with the lake being almost 10 miles away. Upon entry via a paved space from the main road this quickly led to a paved large area (that can be driven through a round turn) with 180 degree view or overlook of (road leading to) Anza Borego desert in the distance to the right, Julian town with business and homes on the hills to the left view which also had misty clouds settling in there. In the view, Ramona and Poway could not be seen but it would be yonder and to the left. Check maps of your location to see the names of the huge mountain ranges in the 180 degree view.
Nice spot to park and take in the views. Dark skies at night. Area Is popular with star gazing and meteor showers. Couple small trails in the area, but nothing other than a great view and small parking area. No tables, restrooms, or anything.
Always stop here when passing through Julian. Just a nice peaceful break and view
