Diablo Oriental Foods reviews
19This little mom & pop store has been here for decades (no change), and specializes in authentic Japanese food and produce. This shack is reminiscent of the many little stores in any Japanese town or city back streets. I personally love the atmosphere and selection.
Hidden gem!
Great selection, cozy little shop. Excellent customer service!
Quality products and diverse selection including housewares.
Everything you need including cooking supplies and utencils.
Even gift items.
Try the delicious dried persimmon!
Small, yet humble store. I found some really good Asian food snacks that I could not normally find in 99 Ranch. Parking can be a hassle, but nevertheless this store has a decent amount of selection of Asian items and groceries.
Very nice small japanese market. I go there regularly because of their great selection of miso paste. They have a small but excellent selection of sashimi grade fish. Reminds me of mom and pop stores in Hawaii. They have Futomaki on weekends, and can sell out by afternoon.
I love small privately owned little markets like this. The variety is awesome! Surprised they even have a refrigerates section. These types of business are invaluable to our community and we should all continue to support places like this.
Very nice! It had everything we needed and even with asking questions about where things are repeatedly.they helped us! Excited to come back here again!
People working there are helpful & friendly. Market has frozen food area, a small fresh veggie area & everything else i want for Japanese cooking. Additionally, they have some non-grocery items from Japan, including a long textured washcloth that I love (made from nylon, i think).
Cute little Asian market specializing in Pacific island treats. They have a small fish market on ice and tons of knick knack items. Everything you need to whip up a good pot of rice, saimen, or sushi. They stock commercial appliances as well as crafted teapots and cute plates and mugs.
I found this hidden gem recently and absolutely love it! The prices are very affordable and it's unfortunate I wasn't aware of this place earlier since grocery stores charge double and sometimes triple for items such as baby corn, chili oil, ECT.
The owner is very sweet and keeps his store very organized and clean.
You can find produce, meat, refrigerated items, and shelf items.
Parking is in the back or if you live in the neighborhood I would suggest walking like I do!
I love this store he's only open for 6 days a week however you can get all the things you miss and love from Hawaii. Fresh Poi on Thursdays, Ahi & Aku Tuna, Kalua Pig, Lau lau, lomi lomi salmon, Crack Seed and all da kind good stuff like that.
This is a gem of a store. Small but big in variety of products. I will definitely be back for more. Next time I will go for fish.it looked very fresh!
Great Japanese and other Pacific foods for reasonable prices. Owners are courteous and friendly!
Great marketplace for Japanese and haiwaian food and snacks. You can find really amazing treats here with great prices for Sashimi grade fish. Wonderful owners - support local!
I was VERY excited to find a place selling all of my favorite ingredients for Thai food. Unfortunately, when I used said ingredients they were massively lacking in flavor (galangal, lime leaves, lemon grass) it was very disappointing. Yes, the galangal and lime leaves were frozen but I expected more than I got. I'll go back for dry/packaged ingredients but will try somewhere else for the fresh/fresh frozen.
They have a very nice selection of Asian foods. You can find some hard to find items like fresh poi from Hawaii.
Small but organized very well! Lots of authentic japanese food.me and my husband will definitely go there often in the future!
The only place in the mtz/concord/wc area that sells fresh Kaffir Lime Leafs which is how I found it. So glad I did, even though it's cramped, it's clean and has a large variety of some of my childhood favorites. It reminded me of some of the stores in Hawaii without the humidity ;) They even had fresh Poi!
Pretty terrible selection of oriental foods in a really terrible location that is cramped, messy, and really poorly lit.
The only good thing about this place is that it's the only place in the Walnut Creek area that carries some more specifically Japanese food products.
Bottom line, your much better off going to Ranch 99 for Chinese groceries and if you want Japanese groceries, it's worth the trip to either a Nijiya or Mitsuwa.
I feel like I'm back in Japan when I step into this store: the smells, the size, etc. I get can many of the same items at a Korean grocer, but the prices here are much better. Ask about which days they make fresh sushi. It's not obvious, but there's a driveway that leads to parking in the back.
