Dickey's Barbecue Pit, San Diego CA

As we were driving to the restaurant I was called on my cell phone and was asked by the manager to bring the gift cards that I used to place my order. I informed the manager that I used gift cards from my email from Costco but I can show him the emails when I arrived.
When my wife and I arrived at the restaurant, we asked for our order and I asked the manager if he wanted to see my email gift cards. He did and I showed him the cards. I asked why he needed to see the gift cards since they have a number and a code you must use to make a purchase. He then asked me if I buy the gift cards for a "big" discount. I am not clear why I would be asked this but I told him I buy a lot of gift cards from Costco. I also told him we live by the beach and this was the only location near us. I also asked him if the cooperate office decides what gift cards the stores should accept or not. He then stated that is "my fault" that I bought so many gift cards. I was quite taken aback by this comment. "My fault!? " I asked the manager, why would I be at fault for buying gift cards to Dickey's Barbecue Pit.
Anyway, please call me as soon as possible. I need to know if I can use these gift cards or not or return them back to Costco.

I'm baffled. Order 3 piece meat (sliced brisket, cheddar jalapeno sausage and ribs) combo with a slice of pecan pie and a corn muffin and in the picture is what I got. Called to speak with a manager and she wouldn't even provide me her name (for obvious reasons she doesn't want to be known to corporate). First off they took an hr to prepare my meal. The driver had to wait over 40 mins just to pick the order up. Then I don't even get sliced brisket it's some sort of chopped. The manager lied to me saying they can't slice it because it's so tender it falls apart.everyone knows you can slice the most tender of briskets. This wasn't sliced it was def chopped long ways. If 1 rib equals the portion of 3 ounces maybe they should change the option to singular verbage so people don't think they are getting multiple bones. Mac and cheese was cold and loaded baked potato casserole was slightly warm The corn muffin was delicious and so was the flavor of sausage, brisket (wasn't tender) and rib (best meat I got). The rib had more bone than meat. As u can see in the photo. Honestly this review wouldn't have been harsh except the lack of willingness by the "manager" to even listen to my constructive criticism.

Brisket Plate no flavor, I stated the meat was cold looked like pork, bbq sauces (2) taste like Heinz, potato salad had a few tiny green (what I thought may have been chives) and alot of mustard. Beans should have said pork n beans with BBQ sauce no pork. Dinner roll? Not sure what it was. Menu said comes with corn bread, I got charged $1.00 for a cornbread muffin that tasted like sugar. I informed them the meat was cold they informed me it was because it took time to check out at the register. Don't waste your time or money. The fried okra was hot and delicious a large portion.

As you can probably tell, I eat here a lot. With it being Mother's Day (Mexican one is on the 10th), I took my mom with my family here to enjoy some delicious food. Aside from the obvious busy-ness of the restaurant, as I forgot it is celebrated today, the staff at Dickey's Barbecue Pit made her feel special. This was especially evident on Mother's Day. From the moment we stepped inside, we were greeted with warm smiles and a genuine sense of hospitality. The service at Dickey's Barbecue Pit in San Diego exceeded our expectations and made our Mother's Day celebration truly memorable for her and our family. Thank you!

Just stopped in here for a quick dinner while in town on business. The staff was pleasant and helpful enough. I don’t get a chance to go to a Dickeys very often so I’m not sure if it’s just this location but the quality of food was not what I remembered. It has never been world class BBQ but it has usually been reasonably tasty. The pulled pork that I had was a bit watered down for lack of a better way to put it. There was not a lot of smokiness to the flavor. The fries were ok but nothing special. It served the purpose of a quick and decent dinner but I’ve had much better BBQ at other Dickey’s locations.

Advertisement is posted at the front of the store regarding the loyalty rewards program. However, this store seems to give obstacles if you want to redeem your reward points. First, this store does not allow customers to redeem points directly in the store but requests to order online, but when I redeemed points for reward in the app and ordered online, this store repeatedly (once last year and twice this year) disacknowledged receiving the order. And when I asked whether other customers have experienced the same problem, trying to figure out if it’s an error caused by my own app, the manager refused to tell me but rudely asked me “ so you want me to pay for you out of my own pocket? ” He asked me to contact rewards program to get points back and try redeeming in other store, unaware that customer is wasting time handling all this. If this store doesn’t accept points redemption, a sign should be posted at the front to avoid wasting customers’ time.

If I could rate one star I would but this place was very over priced and very small portioned you are much better spending your money at Phil’s bbq

Second time I ordered and this time was worst than the first - Cold and forgot items again.
Definitely not going a third time.

Ordered online through their site and had the wrong food delivered. Staff was very quick and accommodating to get me the correct order

Placed an online order and was disappointed.
The slider plate is one slider on a dinner roll with very little meat.
The ribs were tender and tasty but the portions for the entire meal were not worth the price.

First time visit to this location.
The staff consisted of what appeared to be pleasant enough young adults, early college or high school and they seemed to be consistent in their interaction with the public. That was the best part of the visit. The disappointing part is they didn’t promote their daily specials. I ordered the meat plate because it sounded great. I paid $21+ for a meat plate however it did not appear to be appropriate temperature. The meat definitely wasn’t hot. The servings looked child-size. The spinach was tasty, but the jalapeño beans had an aftertaste. Of the three meats I chose—the chicken and the beef were bland. The pork had the best flavor in comparison, but, they were not served hot (Is that even legal? Isn’t there a certain temperature the food has to be when served? Especially because it’s meat?) Most definitely would not recommend that plate, and based on that experience—probably wouldn’t recommend anything else. Not worth The price. If you must eat here, stick to the daily specials—but be sure to ask them to actually heat your food. Didn’t complain out of fear that they may sabotage my food.

The place is cool, the food is good. But there’s an middle eastern male employee, that needs to take classes on food handling. Dude wears gloves but grabs phone with gloves doesn’t change the gloves handles money doesn’t change gloves. Make sure people that he does! Call him out on it!

The meat is amazing here… though for the price of those chili brisket fries is way overpriced. You can tell by the portion in the image.also can you see any brisket? ! I can only see a pinch of it.

Great place to get your fill of meat smoked and tender, juicy and delicious, saucy and spicy.

I was really looking forward to a great BBQ sandwich. I had never ordered from there before.
The nice clerk suggested a beef sandwich.
I got home and tasted the sauce—fantastic.
But sad to say the meat was VERY dry. I threw most of it out.

What a ripoff. They advertized a free pulled pork sandwich for veterans on Veterans Day but when I got there around 3 PM, they had a sign on the door that said they were sold out of the Veterans Day sandwiches. Don't patronize this place. Go to Phil's instead.

The soft serve machine hasn’t worked for a long time, meat was dry and cold, best part was the Mac n cheese. The one use to go to in Fresno is way better. Also hot inside.
