Brewery Dokkaebier reviews
18Awesome place…. Great beer and even better staff. Got harassed by some random dude off the street, had nothing to do with Dokkaebier, but their staff diffused the situation and gave me free beer even though the situation had nothing to do with them. Definitely will be back to support this business.
Great spot with outdoor seating. Don’t sleep on the kimchi sour! I normally don’t go for sours because they tend to be way too fruity, so this one is perfect. And not too overpowering. The staff are hella nice too.
Not as good as Federation. I was disappointed that the price on the board ($7) was not the amount I was charged ($8). There's a basic expectation at brew pubs that you can pay cash for the pint at the price that's posted, not get a surcharge piled on top. Others with me were similarly disappointed by this practice, and also at the inch of foam in their glass when it was handed to them.
Love their beer! My fav is the yuza blonde, very refreshing! Lots is parking around and feel safe.
Awesome drinks and great vibes!
My Favorites: Yuzu blonde, Kimchi Sour, and Rice Kolsch. Still have a lot to try though
I tried 8 different drinks from two sets. The Kimchi Sour, Goblin IPA, and Yuzu stood out. I thought I wouldn't like the kimchi beer, but it was really good.
They've moved here not long ago. Old reviews said they had food, but now they just sell simple snacks like Kimchi Popcorn and lamb-flavored jerky. If you're hungry, you might want to bring your own food. I saw other people eating their own food, so it seems okay.
Watch out for parking. Cars get broken into a lot here. It's best to park close, use the garage near Jack London Square, or park where you can see your car.
Great beer, cool little spot, with great music and a lot of seating indoor and outdoor. The staff is super helpful with ordering and you can get flights! They have such interesting flavors, you should try the kimchi sour! Thank you Johnny and Byung for the great experience.
Great selection of local craft beer, from Dokkaebier’s Korean-inspired flavors to Black-owned Hella Coastal’s and Federation’s delicious brews. A flight of 4 beers is $14.
Second time coming to this place and we had to return because the first time we did not try the KimChi Sour, which tbh is my favorite beer that they offer. It's very unique with the kimchi essence but it doesn't overpower the drink where you'd think you're drinking kimchi juice or something like that. The lemongrass was also good, but not quite my cup of tea.
The left side of the menu are beers brewed by Dokkaebier, but they also have beverages from some other breweries on the right side. You can also get a testing flight if you do not want to get a full "can's" worth of any one flavor.
~~Restroom: They have 2 keys on the left side of the store that you will need to bring to go over to the building's shared restroom.
~~Service: Great, the staff is very nice!
~~Environment: The storefront is very nice and they have some nice seating areas out front. There's a mix of options depending on your party size. Outside there's long tables as well as smaller tables within the shipping containers. Inside there's aalso a generous amount of seating.
~~Return: Yes.
The beer was fine (particularly the offerings from Hella Coastal). The staff managed to be rude and pushy despite the bar being nearly empty. Unlikely to return given the abundance of options that exceed this place in both product and service.
Nicely crafted beers with a uniquely Asian twist. It's a good problem to have, that Oakland and the East Bay have so many good breweries and taprooms, but I would definitely bring a visiting friend here for a memorable beer experience. Gives me Young Master vibes (Hong Kong brewer) - down to earth, unapologetically different, great quality beer.
Kimchi Sour - tart and balanced, as someone who doesn't usually like sours this is very approachable.
Yuza Blonde - great fruity summer sipper
Lemongrass Witbier - a darker Witbier, lemongrass gives it a light herb-ey florality, wish the Szechuan peppercorns gave it more of a kick, though!
Metered street parking only. Limited indoor seating, but has lots of outdoor eating available. There are lots of beers on tap. Limited porters are available for now. Staff is very friendly and helpful. I did not notice any food on the menu.
Delicious beer with unique Asian-inspired flavors.
- The Kimchi Sour is always a hit, especially if you like tart, complex beers.
- The Yuza Blonde was nice and light, a perfect summer slammer. I didn't get a lot of yuza flavor, but I know it's hard to produce in a beer.
- The Mango Blonde had more flavor, and you can definitely taste the mango. It was a standout.
- The Bamboo Pilsner was light, but I didn't really see how the bamboo added to it. Seemed more gimmicky.
Order online, beer shows up with one missing. Can't help but wondering how this could happed.
Really great food. Korean style fry chicken is super delicious. Perfect combination with beer. My partner love it. We enjoyed a lot.
Outstanding food (the galbi, chicken wings, and skate especially), delicious craft beers, and a great staff. The taproom is located on Polk right in the thick of things, and it's a great place to hang out with friends on the weekend or after work. They're currently only offering pick-up/delivery, so I can hardly wait until they reopen the taproom!
Not just the most legit korean chicken but one of the tastiest fried chickens in the whole bay area!
My wife and I found this place while we were just walking around today, got curious to see Korean sign, so stopped by, and it turned out to be the best meal/beer that we had in months. I’ve tried several fried chicken places in SF and other bay area, and I think this is the best one. Fresh, crispy, and not greasy. Sauces are amazing as well. I really enjoyed the shishito peppers. You should get radish pickle as side to have it real Korean style.
We tried their bamboo pilsner, and it goes really well with the chicken. Looking forward to trying their other beers too.
Staffs were really friendly and kind. Hope I can try more of their menu in the house once this covid situation gets over.
Great spot! Korean taproom with small plates, communal and individual tables, and bar seating. The sour is tart and delicious - a truly sour beer which is hard to come by. Fried chicken (sweet and spicy) and short ribs are tasty. Small menu with good options for sharing. Service was good and the vibe was chill. Pop in and try! It’s listed as a pop up taproom but hopefully it sticks around!
