Terrible! Terrible! Experience renting a car from Dollar rental. We had to wait 3 hours.ended up renting a car from a different Company and paid higher rate due to last minute rentals! When call to complaint their phone number gives you a run around. NO one in Person answer your call.
Be advise if you don't need extra stress AVOID booking with this company.

LAX airport. 1hr to complete paperwork the 4-5hour wait for a pre-paid car we booked months ago.
Kids asleep on floor as no chairs after 11hr flight. Staff rude, dont care and no apology.
Did not have enough cars for their bookings.
Will never rent Dollar ever again.

I want to express my extreme dissatisfaction with the service I received from Dollar Car Rental at John Wayne Airport

We reserved and prepaid for a rental vehicle and never received it. To add insult to injury, not one person from Dollar had the decency to call me back after numerous calls and emails.
I am beyond furious that a company can blatantly mistreat its customers like this. It's completely unacceptable.

I flew in from Vancouver, Canada to Santa Ana with my 2 kids on on July 24th for our annual 5-day vacation. I arrived at the rental counter with our reservation in hand for a vehicle pick-up at 1: 30 pm.

This is when the nightmare began.
The clerk informed me there were no cars available and that they would call me in 3 hours. They never called.

At around 5pm, I called Dollar to follow up. I was given the run-around by their customer service department. I ended up talking to 5 different people and no one could help me out,
The first representative gave me the number of Santa Ana Dollar Rentals. So I gave them a call and after waiting 20 minutes to get through I was put back in the queue to the same department.
The next person I spoke with said, "I'll transfer to you customer service - they can help you out. " She transfers me to a voice mail that says, Welcome to Hertz, we are now closed.
I call back again and speak with Angelie. I ask to speak with a supervisor and sit on hold for another 15 minutes at which point I'm disconnected.
I then call back again and speak with May who says, there is really nothing we can do. You have to wait for the call from Dollar at the John Wayne Airport? We went full circle.

No one ever called me back and as a result we had to resort to using Ubers for the entire vacation.

In this day and age, customer service is everything. Why didn't the agent at the counter call me back after 3 hours? Why didn't anyone from the customer service department call me back or a supervisor as I had requested. I also submitted an email the evening of July 24th to Dollar's customer relations department at the advice of one of their representatives. Again, no response.

Our vacation has now ended.
We spent close to $1000 in Ubers, and $60 in prepaid parking that we didn't use.

I'm absolutely shocked that an organization of this size can get away with treating customers this way.

They obviously just don't care.

So disappointing.

The wait at ever Dollar is over 2 hours, regardless what time you show up. I will never use them again!

When Traveling to Chicago I reserved and paid for a Dollar Rental car. When I arrived they did not have a car for me and could not give me a time when a car would be ready. There were a dozen people in front of me that had been waiting for 2 hours. I ended up finding another rental company for triple the price. This is not how one should run a business.

May 25th 2023. We landed at Santa Ana airport about 11. However Dollar & Hertz HAD NO CARS. We will have to wait 60-90 minutes and then hope we can get a car. Be warned.

Pressure you into damage waivers. If you book through a third party be sure you understand total cost of upgrades they price. Port communication and service. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE

I'm giving the company 1 star. But, the representative at the Orange County airport, Brandon, deserves 5 stars. He was so helpful and patient. If he's not a manager, he should be. He exhibits excellent customer service! Kudos Brandon.

My flight was delayed 3 hours past my reservation time, and when I arrived they told me it would still be “at least 4 to 5 more hours” before they had my car. What’s the point of a reservation then? I also prepaid weeks before, and it was non-refundable. Screw this place and this company. I’ll never rent from Dollar again.

My company reserved and paid for a rental here while I was to be in town for 2 weeks. They refused to work with my debit card and stated they required a credit card. So I went next door to avis. Got a car in 15 min. Try harder

We were told it would be a 2 hour wait for our car reservation, which we made 2 months prior. The man at the desk said we could wait in the executive VIP lounge, which was an employee break room with a folding table. No compensation was offered for this massive inconvenience until after we booked an available car with a competitor, and Dollar will probably still get paid because we prepaid our reservation. Dishonest and unhelpful.

If you enjoy waiting 3 hours in a garage for a car you have reserved, rent here.

If you enjoy watching the employees get yelled at, rent here.

The parking garage is a great place to spend a few hours in sunny California. You have a great view of rental cars and can catch a buzz off the exhaust fumes.

Dollar followed up and said this is perfectly acceptable. What a strange experience.

No cars for two hours or more. They have us sitting in the car park breathing exhaust fumes. Total amateur operation. No customer service.

I have rented with Dollar all the time but this experience was out of the ordinary. I booked a car online and after waiting in line for sometime, when I finally arrived at the counter, I was told that they don’t have any cars and it will be a wait of around two hours but they will call me as soon as the car is available. I was shocked that I never received a call from them for the entire 3 day stay in Orange County. My best guess is that I did not prepay and they were giving cars to customers who prepaid only. Really poor experience.

The staff should get four star. They tried really hard, but the company just treats Dollar customers really poorly.

1. As you can see in the photo, this is a dingy small office in the basement.

2. Dollars customers were told that there was no car for them at the moment. Leave a phone number, and Dollar would call them as soon as a car is available.

3. Hertz customers, on the other hand, get to skip to the front and get all the cars. (Hertz, Dollar, and Thrifty are apparently all Hertz, but Dollar & Thrifty are the unloved step sisters.)

4. Eventually, I got a Camry. It was probably the lowest trim, under-powered for SoCal, and the door's rubber seal came off on the second day. I had to park and redo the seal.

Again, the staff really tried hard. The one star is for Hertz/Dollar corporation, or the site manager who seem to regularly fail their customers. Imagine traveling to the airport with kids and have to wait couple of hours for the car that you "reserve".
