Just had THE BEST experience with Christina or Kristina, not sure how to spell it but WOW. Her customer service is next level. Thank you so much for a great start to our vacation! She has amazing ideas and adds a ton of value to your company!

Worst car rental. DO NOT rent there. They charge a lot of fees. Also and more importantly, after returning the car they charged us $300 as a “cleaning fee”. OUTRAGEOUS. Also, the phone customer service is TERRIBLE! Is like they don’t want you to speak directly to a person, is almost impossible. Simply horrible. In fact, if I knew I was going to pay this much for a cleaning fee I would left the car completely and entirely dirty.

Did not receive the category of car I booked, received a car with filthy floors, then was charged an exorbitant cleaning fee of several hundred dollars (more than the cost of the rental itself), even though we cleaned and vacuumed the car prior to returning and upon return inspection I was told by the agent I was all good. Customer service could not provide a reason as to what the cleaning fee applied to, and it's impossible to reach anyone at this specific location. Save your time and money by paying a little more and going with Alamo or Enterprise. Seriously not worth it!

The lines are ridiculously long. They should have a separate line for reservations. Some people come to front desk to ask for prices and they don’t even know what car they want. People who already made a reservation should be able to save all this time in line.

Sacramento Airport pickup of a Priceline two day rental when I was in town because my brother had a heart attack and was in ICU. When I picked up I asked the Thrity/Dollar counter person what the cost would be to extend the rental a few days if I needed. His response was the price would be the same rate up to seven days ($53/day). Two days later I called customer service to extend the rental one day I was told the rate was $100/day and that they could not honor the original Priceline rate. Now that I've returned the car I've followed up with customer service and they refuse to honor what their counter rep promised. A measly $50 has cost them future rentals and this review. I'm going with Turo next time where I'm not just a number but renting with a small business person. Aside from the bad info polite people at the counter and drop off. Edited to give them one extra star. I left some headphones in the car. Dollar rent a car lost and found is top notch. I left an online message. They texted me back within minutes that my headphones were found. Good customer service in that area of the business.

Terrible service.busy chatting it up behind the counter. Once checked in, they said they will call when they have a car.wait time at 1 hour. Been teaveling for 7 hrs.now I sit and wait.last time for Dollar/Thrifty.regardless of price.

I had a reservation.with a confirmation number and there was no car for me. Had to wait for one to become available. Will not rent here again.

My experience with Dollar Car Rental was an absolute nightmare. I had a reservation, but when I showed up here, they had no cars available. Their response was shockingly unhelpful – they told us to "ask around" at other rental agencies. We were left stranded for two agonizing two hours until 12: 30 am, desperately waiting for an Uber that cost us an arm and a leg. To top it off, we were in town for a funeral, making this situation even more distressing.

I wouldn't wish this kind of service on my worst enemy. Dollar Car Rental's lack of empathy and professionalism left me and my fiancé not only stranded but also deeply frustrated and upset. If you value your time and sanity, do yourself a favor and steer clear of this company. They're an utter disappointment, and one star is one too many for them.

Similar situation as to most of the posts here. They need to learn what a reservation means. 90 min wait for everyone to get their cars

Beware! They will sell you a gas purchase price that makes it seem like it's cheaper and in the end they charge you for a full tank even if you don't use it all. They refuse to reason or listen to what the customer is saying. They charged it's a lot more than expected.

Easy in and easy out. I was able to check in and get my vehicle pretty quickly. They are also converting to an all electric fleet for the basic model. I would take this into consideration for your distances. Drop off is a drive through and is super fast. Tell them your name and empty the vehicle.

Horrible experience. I booked a car for 7: 30pm directly through Dollar months before my trip. I pre-paid. I did this because I was arriving late and needed to drive 2.5 hours to Reno with my young son. I arrive around 8pm due to a slightly late plane. They said they didn't have a car for me and it might be up to an hour wait. I explained that I was confused, that I booked directly with them and pre-paid. They said "a reservation guarantees you a car, but not a time" and that they distribute cars in order of people that check it. What? I could understand that if it was not a pre-paid reservation, or even if it was with an outside agency like Expedia, but I reserved and pre-paid directly with Dollar. I explained about my long drive with my young son but they wouldn't do anything. I said that I was going to check the other car companies and might return for a refund. They said they can't process a refund and would have to call a customer service number. I expressed my displeasure. I proceeded to call customer service to explain and see what could be done (the answer was nothing but I wasn't giving up) as I continued on the phone, someone who seemed to some kind of manger says to me "if you would just check in we have a car for you. " I asked what changed in the 5 min? She said that a number of cars had been returned (which makes no sense of they would have told me they had a car, it was just being cleaned). As I was checking out, the staff person explained that it was taking a little time because the car was located in a far lot. I then overhead the manger-like person say "these cars can be the community pool for the night. " It seemed clear to me that they had the cars the entire time. They also tried to add around $90 of insurance when I declined it (thankfully I caught it). They did not tell me where the car was located, they did not tell me how to check and report any damage. When I returned the car, the person checking me in didn't give any explanation on the process. I was waiting for my receipt. Eventually another employee checked in on me and apologies that no one explained. Horrible experience. It appears that I am not the only one, as other reviews mention similar experiences. I received a satisfaction survey a few days ago and explained my experience. It asked if I would like to be contact and I said yes. We'll see if that happens.

Counter person Tia talked with an attitude. You don't talk to your customer like they are stupid and pick on who you want to talk nice too. Every customer need to be talked to the sames way. Dollar and Thrifty you could be better than hiring someone like this

Waited an hour in line, then another hour + to get the actual car. Worst service ever given we had a reservation for 12pm…. It’s 2pm still no car…

Rude staff names John, sped through the check in did not allow us to use our own insurance coverage, has to pay over three times the balance agreed to in advance. Then we had to want an hour for a car. Then I was given a half charged electric car, not enough miles to reach my destination

Edit / update: I admit to typing this in anger, before the transaction was finished. They DID fix the charges to reflect the correct amount I had agreed to. However, it was the worst customer service I have ever experienced, and I felt threatened by the employee, and when I asked for the manager I was told she would tell me the same response. I admit to telling him that it was “Bull S$&@“ that they could not provide me a place to charge enough to reach my destination, however his response to “Watch my language at the counter, ESPECIALLY TO HIM”, and his physical actions were out of line. It was late at night and everyone was stressed, however I had reserved a gas car, knowing that my destination did not have good charging options.

Waited 2 hours in line just to get to the counter and get the keys for our already reserved car. When another customer mentioned the long wait an employee said at least it's not 4 hours. Completely unacceptable, have never waited so long to pick up a rental car.
