Don Tommy's Mexican Food reviews
19Authentic Mexican food? Not even close! Just like any other hole in the wall place that sells burritos and tacos! I was dying to try this place our and I'm unimpressed! Had the Chile Verde plate and not even close to what it's supposed to be! Shredded pork carnitas with green salsa literally just mixed with it! Chile Verde is supposed to be pork simmered in green sauce and cooked in it! Ok food. Will I be back? NO!
Great burritos and super large portions. They make everything from scratch including their tortillas which are done fresh on the grill when preparing your order. A little pricier than your typical taco shop but way better
I had the Supreme burrito. It was well cooked and flavorful! Lovely staff. Highly recommend stopping by. The music was slightly to loud though, it hurt my ears, but I didn't want to eat outside because of the wind.
Parked right in front of this place. I haven't had a chance to try their food or check out their service. My review is based on what I see! Small little place offer table inside and outside along the sidewalk. Very vibrant looking with fiesta vibes. The menu sounds delicious and the aroma from the kitchen is promising.
I will have to check out this place next time I m in SD and will update my review on their food, price, and service!
Ordered burrito on grub hub burrito arrived but the rice was undercooked and hard, making the burrito inedible. The burrito wrap was too big for the amount of food that was in it. I will not be back
Wasn't the best. I had a burrito and chips. The chips were basically just deep fry. Don't recommend. The burrito was a pastry wrap and overly doughy in my opinion. There were very few toppings besides meat and had to add external hot sauce. Overall just wasn't happy with what I paid for. I suggested to an old lady coming in to go somewhere else when she asked how it was. Very meh but if you need food it's not the worst either.
Took away breakfast taco best thing on menu now gone! Boycott till we get it back people if we can't get a breakfast taco in a Mexican restaurant that's in SAN DIEGO it's a no go for me. Also I drive across town to get the taco cause it was that good now I'm forever bitter
Average to slightly above average. Ordered some fried fish tacos. The breading turned to absolute mush.completely ruining the texture of them. My brother ordered the carne asada burrito. The tortilla was awesome, but there is a lot of it. The tortilla to steak ratio favored greatly towards to tortilla.
It’s definitely a fancier Mexican dining location. Parking is in front of the store. I ordered a Carne Asada Burrito for $12.00. Portion size to price, was a lot more tortilla than the food inside. Now the salsa’s was on point! 4 flavors. Was it a nice experience? Yes. Will I return. No.
Got halfway through eating my rolled tacos and noticed burn holes in the bottom of the styrofoam to-go container.like the chef just transferred them straight from the fryer, sizzling hot, into the container. WILL NOT BE BACK, and I hope to God that I don't get sick. Also, a few times in the past they messed up the Grubhub order. Be careful eating here.
As soon as I took the first bite I knew this burrito was different because even the tortilla was amazing. I'm coming back every time I visit San Diego.
Great tacos hands down! You have to try the California burrito. So good! If you are in the area, stop by and grab some food!
For likely the first time I eat at this Mexican restaurant. I ordered two sopes: one had chicken and the other had chorizo. I’ve eaten sopes a number of times and these in particular were so good that I was motivated to compliment their chef, which I did with having spoken to him in Spanish. He gave me a fist bump. He looked happy too. I ask that people consider to give him props whenever they decide to eat their food and right there at the restaurant. Aside from having said all that I also ordered a Sangría Señorial soda, a favorite drink of mine, and a tamarindo candy.
Called ahead for two burritos today (November 12,2021) was told be ready in 10-20min, arrived 20 minutes after and still had to wait another 15 minutes as they had not even started making it! There was no other customer there either. Can't use COVID or pandemic as excuse anymore for bad customer service, its almost 2022.
Alright alright alright as local San Diegan this Mexican restaurant does not deserve 4.5 stars. My boyfriend and I went for dinner (took it home). He got the surf and turf burrito (which was mostly rice, and had one piece of shrimp) and I got the taco salad which was great although it felt like they skimped me on the chicken. Just wasn't very flavorful overall. Wish I didn't spend 40 dollars on that meal.
First time here and had the quesadilla plate. Excellent rice and beans and the quesadilla was really tasty, not greasy like many I’ve had since we’ve moved here. Small spot, only a couple tables outside to eat at so we got ours to go. Street parking or paid parking across the street for $2.
Went to this place when I went to my brother's wedding. This is the best Mexican food I have ever had. Their tortillas are spectacular. I might visit California again some day just to buy their food. Please make some restaurants in Washington!
I service swimming pools in the area and I stop here for breakfast/lunch sometime. I like their Street tacos all of them. They really pal on the meat. They have tacos Tuesday's but I'm not in the area. So checkum out let me know.
I got the carne asada burrito. Wasn’t super impressed, wasn’t super disappointed. There are probably a lot of worse places to eat and there are probably a lot of better places to eat.
