Donut Star reviews
10Good service from the owner. It’s great that she is open later than most donut shops. The donuts are good too.
Great place, bunch of pastries and the ice blended boba smoothies are absolutely delicious, love it.
I always come here when I have extra money to spend on myself!
Really REALLY good donuts. The owner is very sweet and the prices are great. My order had 7 donuts and a boba (rly great tapioca) and it came out to 15 bucks. I def recommend!
Little bit pricy for a cinnamon roll and med.coffee $5.00. However, small businesses need support. Cinnamon roll was yummy!
Without exception, best donuts in the area. I am particularly a fan of cake style donuts with frosting and sprinkles and have never found better.
I miss this place so much! We used to go weekly when we lived in the area. The owners are friendly and they use the best quality oil. We live in Texas now and I made my husband bring me back a donut when he went to visit California because the donuts out here are awful. Highly recommend!
I really really like this place. I've been going here for a while now, great service, people, and quality! My personal favorite is the Caramel Latte Boba Tea. Only problem I have is the building, should get renovated.
Great donut shop and nice family owned with friendly service. Always fresh with good selection. Right next to Domino's pizza in Stater center. I can't resist so we have pizza and donuts all the time. I recommend you give them a try.
I've had my ups and downs with this place but overall over all, and after the 15+ years we've been going here, they are the best donut shop in the area.
We have been customers of Donut Star and Yogurt now for about 9 years. They are located in the Stater Bros parking lot on Lakeshore, next to Dominos. Never had a problem until just a few weeks ago, I went in to pick up our usual, one of them being a cheese croissant. I came home, started to eat the croissant and noticed it had just about 1 teaspoon of cheese in it. I am usually not a complainer but I called to tell them, the owners daughter said she would replace it next time I came in and she did about 1 week later. I went in again on 9-27 and ordered our usual and a ham and cheese croissant, came home, served my son his ham and cheese. He said it tasted funny, I looked and realized the croissant was completely raw in the inside. I literally pulled the dough out with my fingers. I grabbed it, drove to Donut Star, went in and showed the croissant to the daughter, she immediately grabbed it and said, "OMG! I have to call my mom. " Then she gave me my money back. They had customers, I went in discreetly as to not cause alarm or a scene. I still like their donuts.
BUT today, I go in. The mother is there, I began to order.and she says, " I don't think I want to sell you croissant, I think you should only order donut because you complain. " I was somewhat confused and answered, " I'm not sure what your daughter told you but I will tell you what happened. The first time I complained was because the croissant had no cheese. I pay extra for cheese, I want it. The other day your croissant was completely raw! Did your daughter show you? They were all raw. " She said no one had complained but me. I told her that I was sorry, I was not going to eat something that might make me or my son sick. I told her that it was not even a big deal to me, that I know no one is perfect, that even I make food sometimes and it comes out to cold, hot, salty, spicy, raw or burnt! I said, " I know your daughter is just learning, it's hit and miss, not a big deal. " She told me that they don't make their croissants there, that she orders them. Not true. Her husband makes the donuts and the daughter had told me a couple of months ago that she is now taking over making the croissants.
I told her, " We have been customers here for a very long time. I don't care what you charge me but I want what I order reasonably good. I don't want anything for free. You've just insulted me! You still want my money but you want me to buy only donuts? You are so wrong, I am going to complain to everyone! She then apologized and asked me what she should have said. I told her, " You shouldn't have said anything because I had already settled this with your daughter! Maybe if you heard anything you should have apologized to your customer, not attacked or limited them. " and I walked out.
