This was a great 3 night stop. Really Great of leash dog beach! (when the tide allows) on the bay side. A HUGE beach on the ocean side.
I fit my 35' class a in a site marked 26'. It fit fine with our tow vehicle parked in the spot as well.
Price was nice, although it was 10 bucks if ya wanted firewood and $2 for a five minute shower.

Take your kids here. Protected beach, small waves, gradual deepening, no undertow, dog friendly. Mud flats at low tide are exceptional. Camp sites great and staff are relaxed and helpful. My happy place

Campgrounds are ok, but better for RVs when the winds blow. Check weather forcast and pay attention to winds.

Loved our first stay at Doran.

Enjoyed the campsite in our ShiftPod3 #shiftpod, with a great view and the sounds of the waves and seals.
Had an excellent time metal detecting the beach. We found enough steaks (stakes) to invite the whole campsite for dinner. Had some great conversation's with other beachcombers about treasure hunting. Any detector will provide hours of fun, nothing fancy. Just make sure it can handle the mineralization of the salt.
Great way to keep our beaches clean and safe.

We'll be back.

Doran is by far my favorite campground. The sites are big and have a view of either the bay or the ocean. There are restrooms and showers, as well as a dump station. The downside is no first come first served campsites and reservations must be made well in advance, which also incurs a reservation fee and occupancy tax now. So it costs $49 instead of $35 for the night. I go there often and noticed that many of the reserved sites go unoccupied. It may be because the county doesn't send out a reservation reminder, and people forget that they made them 6 months ago.

Nice place to relax, windy at times and weather is subject to change. Very clean for California.

It was clean, quiet and peaceful. Was easy to sleep at night with no drunk loud people. People were friendly and staff were nice.

Love doran, been camping here for decades. It sure is not as easy or accessible as it used to be, prepare to book one year in advance for a fri-sun slot. ATTN BOATERS: I had the hardest time finding this info ahead of time. Boat launch fee is $4 per stay, not daily ($4 total) AND you can park the trailer /boat in trailer parking by the launch w/wout a vehicle attached, OR you can park it in your campground. It's pretty open season for parking so there you go, I could not get those answers by calling/ checking the forums so thought I'd add it in. They say 1xvehicle and 1x trailer per site but if you can fit the vehicles in your site it's no issue, typically 3 will fit max w/out trailer. Thumbs up

We had a great time at Doran Campground this year, we have already been there twice this yr. The campgrounds are very clean as were their bathrooms. Although the weather was beautiful in the mornings this year seemed unusually windy in the late afternoon. Love this place and have already booked a space for next year.

Windy, windy, windy campground. Beach access and Coast Guard Base on site, camp host is driving around to make sure everything is ok.

Fantastic beach location! There are little to no waves, a long, wide sandy beach perfect for kids to play in. Be forewarned if camping at Miwok Campground, however, this place is VERY windy! We tent camped for four days, three nights with 40 kids in wind no less than 25 mph the majority of the time. One morning we had a bit of a break but it ramped up again in the afternoon. Gusts were close to 50 mph on our last night which made it near to impossible to sleep. If there are gale force wind warnings, I recommend staying in a hotel and playing at the beach there. The dune did provide a bit of a wind break so the beach was the best place to be. Our neighbors' tent broke a pole within 3 hours of setup. We lucked out all our tents survived!

The camp grounds are pretty good size & restrooms & water spickits were close by. The ocean was right there over the small sand dune which was awesome, especially with kids. The down sides were your out in the open so not much privacy. With being out in the open the wind was vicious the first 2 days with no cover out there, the 3 day was nice though. Watch out for day use or 3rd parties for parking since people ignore the designated camping parking, put something in you spot if you leave to get anything or the space is gone. Rangers aren't around much but people where great most of the time. Dog friendly camping & beach, wide open but they're "supposed" to be on a leash. Check it out & let us know what you think.

Our first time to the Doran Campground and we just love it. I brought my two dogs and have been able to go for long uninterrupted walks on the bay and the ocean beaches. By the way they have the cleanest Campground bathrooms that I've ever seen! Can't wait to come back next year. The only drawback is that it has been quite windy at times but we've enjoyed staying in my travel trailer reading and playing cards.

Beware the fog horn!
My kids and I were awake all hours because of the loud blaring every 8 or 9 seconds from a fog horn. All night.
Our neighbors packed up and threw their tent in the dumpster due to the wind.
But it's a pretty spot and well maintained.
Maybe better to save your money and just do a day trip. For the cost of two nights camping you can get 1 night at a motel somewhere.

We stayed at Miwok G tent camping. Clean bathrooms that are lit at night, hot water at their sinks and breathtaking views

We used to love staying here and did so often. The campsite is beautiful but the customer service and protocol if you ever need to change a reservation is terrible. If they have 1 night available at different sites they will make you book those and move all of your stuff each night before they will allow you to book one of the many available ADA sites for consecutive dates that are never booked. This will be our last time camping here.

Awful. I Just hate being away from the city Kaos, here in the cool fresh ocean air, peaceful sound of the waves, clean, spacious and very private camp sites right on the sandy beach under the shade of trees. Short 5 minute walk to the jetty. Sea lions and gulls makes it complete. Who needs it.

Nice campgrounds, a bit exposed and it was wet and windy while we were there. Staff was friendly enough. Beach was clean.
