1 My wife was seen by this MD last night for chest pain and had work-up to rule out MI. Preliminary EKG and two serial Troponins were negative. Dr said she HAD to be admitted for either a stress test or angiogram. I asked on what basis, protocol or algorhythm and he said "There is no protocol but if you go home you might drop dead in the parking lot. " He then proceeded to play victim to the" I can get sued if I miss am MI". Then he further scared my wife by saying "It's like playing Russian roulette with your life. "
Her blood pressure went to 169/99.
We waited 3 hours in the waiting room. It's a good thing she didn't drop dead in the waiting room.
He then used the cliché "If this was your mother what would you do? " - Really?
He reflexively ordered nitropaste even though she had NO chest pain and No EKG changes and he knew she was possibly going to have a medical stress test. Nitrates before this test is contraindicated. He also did not give her a beta blocker. He also did not afterload reduce her to decrease cardiac workload.
If you like long waits, poor treatment, condescending explanations then go see Dr Manea - otherwise go to Desert Hospital.
