Dumbarton Pier reviews
10The Dumbarton Bridge has many different trails on either side one side has the Dumbarton Pier not many Fisherman's but really nice views of our Bay and there's a a trail that goes around the ponds The Saltwater ponds tons of peace and quiet out there if you like to go for a run or ride and you don't want to see many people I definitely recommend the trails around the Dumbarton very secluded definitely recommend checking this place out
Bring a jacket for the winds. Nice walk down the pier and you can see the local fisherman getting their fish. Plenty of seating benches along the pier.
This is a really nice place to fish at not crowded well kept up walk all the way to the end there's a bathroom about halfway down the pier go on high tide as the water is sallow
Great place for short walks, fishing or just hanging out.parking is free and it is always windy. We always go there to spend the evenings just to enjoy nature. It has an interesting history.
Great place to hang out with the family hiking nature walks with the hustle and bustle of the city this is a great place to get away from it all
It was a somewhat of a warm day and I needed to take a walk to stretch out my leg from a previous knee surgery. Thank goodness it was extremely windy near the pier which I truly enjoyed. I've lived in Newark for over 40 years and had never gone to the pier before. I've always known it was there but I'm glad I took the walk who is my husband it wasn't crowded that day and since I need to get my legs stronger I'll continue to go there cuz it's not busy at all.
The first time I ever walked on the Donbarton Pier. The most interesting thing that caught my attention was the uniquely designed bench seat, which is fully embraced by high concrete walls except the ocean-facing side. Thus an angler could sit in comfortably for hours, without being blown by the gusty wind. Amazing!
Hidden pier next to Dumbarton bridge. You don’t need a license to fish off the pier and you can use 2 rods per person. Last time we went we caught bat ray. Have heard you can also catch sharks off the pier
Wonderful place to take pictures. You can fish from the pier without need of a license but you still need one for bank fishing.
Beautiful place to go in the evenings. Great views across the bay towards Palo Alto. The sun sets behind the bridge from the pier. Access is free as is parking. About 200 meters from the start of the pier is a large passage that allows access to the other side of hwy 84 giving you views across the bay towards San Francisco. From there you see the the sunset behind the coastal hills.
Go on one of the mixed clouds and sky days after the rain in the winter for spectacular sunset’s.
From this point you could walk almost to Berkeley along the salt pond levies.
Many coastal dwelling birds for the bird watchers.
At the beginning of the road to the pier are wonderful marshy areas you can explore. All in all a hidden gem in our neighborhood. NOTE: never go in the exit lane if you get there late. SEVERE TIRE DAMAGE from one way spikes in the road.
