Dumpling Specialist reviews
16 We went there for lunch on weekday, seat immediately.
Dumplings were so good, over my expectations, especially wonton in sauce was the best. The shrimp dumpling was so generous in amount of shrimp it had. Definitely coming back
Very small neighborhood place with very limited lunch and dinner hours. 4% surcharge on CC but cash and Venmo accepted. Went twice to try different foods and family enjoyed both times. Kitchen was fast (presumably being small helps).
- Pan fried pork bun
- Steamed pork/cabbage dumpling
- Siu mai
- Spring roll
5/5 - These were all so so good. Spot on flavor, texture, juiciness.
- Wonton in chili oil
4/5 - Good but not my desired level of spice and flavor.
The food is amazing and to die for. Especially the sticky rice roll, I’ve been craving it for awhile….
Good alternative to Mom's dumpling near SFSU. Will try more of their family style dishes next time.
Tiny dumpling shop with only 6 tables. Strong dumpling game - especially the steamed pork and cabbage dumplings and the pan-fried dumplings. Har gao are not as good - recommend avoiding. They also have a bunch of noodle and rice dishes, but those are not what you should be coming here for.
Food is great and so affordable! You can also self pay which is great if you're in a hurry
Small place. But good food.lots of people just order ahead then pickup. Service is actually very good even though they are busy.
Oh my gosh the food here was yummy. My friends and I got a little bit of everything and it was all very good. It's a small place so expect a little bit of a wait.
Restaurant didn't have dine-in when I came. The take-out dumplings were so delicious!
One of the best deals in SF for takeout. Maybe the fact that they are takeout only (as of May 2023) helped them develop a great takeout experience? The quality and consistency belies the low prices.
Way over hyped. Restaurant is to-go only. Dumplings were poorly packed and were soggy by time I got to them. Much better places nearby.
It is January of 2023, but still no indoor dining here. I prefer to eat my noodle soups at the restaurant because noodles in soup are not good for to-go. It also adds to plastic waste. They do put the soup and noodles in separate containers so that the noodles don't get saturated. I had their 5 spice beef stew noodle soup $8.50 and a wonton noodle soup $8. I did enjoy my meal. The food wasn't overly seasoned and had a clean non-MSG taste. The noodles weren't the traditional thin yellow noodles but a thicker noodle. It reminded me of the Taiwan night market beef noodles (台灣紅燒牛肉麵) but the ones here don't have that tasty red chili sauce mixed in. The wonton noodle soup was fine. Nothing special. My noodles were ready in less than 10 minutes after ordering in person at around 6: 30pm. No wait. Good job Dumpling Specialist.
I love sticky rice and soy milk, but it's hard to find a place that sells sticky rice. That one here are closer to the my taste I used to eat than the ones sold elsewhere. I'll come back!
If you are looking for authentic pan fried bum like me, you will be disappointed. The bum is more steamed than fried. The bottom of the bum is not crispy but soft. If there is half point, I would give 3.5 because overall flavor of food is on light side and fine. Shanghai style stir fried noodle texture is a bit soft.
Favorites: pork pot stickers (very fresh tasting) & the (colorful) brocolli beef.
I also like their chicken chow mein (delicious!). But last time I ordered I wish there were more noodles. Next time I order I'm going to ask for more/extra noodles even if there is a "charge".
