Eastside Sports, Bishop CA

Following the purchase of a water tank to put in our van, we realized after refill it for the first time that it was leaking and that it was therefore impossible to put it inside the van without have water everywhere. We returned to the store after our purchase, and were extremely disappointed. Kent (the manager) only changed the cap for us with the inability to put the tap down without it leaking. He just told us to go buy a gasket at a plumbing store, and refused our willingness to swap the tank for another model. What is a Very very bad service.

If I could give them 100 stars I would. The staff is SO kind and helpful to PCT hikers. One guy in our group was in a tough spot with trekking poles and they went above and beyond. Awesome place!

Eastside Sports has been the most helpful gear store I’ve been to in a long time. Swapped over trekking pole tips and had everything I needed to keep moving on trail. Highly recommend.

Wilson's Eastside Sports is the go to shop for hiking, backpacking and other mountaineering gear in Bishop, Ca. Their employees are friendly and helpful, with Ms. Pope providing particularly helpful and friendly advice about hiking boots! I love the boots I bought, but Trial and return periods are included with most purchases.
Eastside sports is not particularly cheap and not open very late.

I would highly recommend Wilson's Eastside Sports to anyone looking to quickly acquire hiking/mountaineering gear.

A lot of good products. If you need something, they probably have it. This store seems solely in business of selling them however, with little interest in customer service or repeat business.

Employee just overtly followed me through the store staring at me. Very rude. Get cameras if you are that sketched out.

Friendly staff and good selection but I am disappointed that they are price gouging on some items. I asked the sales associate if this was a mistake and after a brief review she said no, and they don’t price match MSRP prices. Definitely disappointed to be hit with an 18% overcharge.

I'm a long-time customer of (formerly Wilson's) Eastside Sports, in the past when I lived in Bishop and now whenever I'm in town. They're always helpful about info on alpine climbing conditions. Most recently I was looking for a specific configuration of a Western Mountaineering bag that was on backorder everywhere except Eastside Sports. They were super nice about my shipping preferences, given the theft problems I had experienced with my local post office. My bag came quickly, and I can't wait to use it. Huge thanks to Todd and staff for the great remote shopping experience.

Try to go in and front door is locked! Walk around back to get in and look at the socks rack for a few minutes, circle it about 3 or 4 times in an obvious search. Not a single employee even looked over at me. Maybe another customer or two in store max, I was willing to spend $100+ on a bunch of nice pairs of socks. 4/13/2020 at ~2: 15 pm

Love this place, great glove selection for the more aerobic sports/climbing/ hiking. Great selection and they are in order! Love it, you can find what need & want- fast!

Sadly, most of the pleasant and helpful staff has been replaced with rude, unhelpful younger people who I find borderline disrespectful to aging, older folks who might not look like cookie-cutter images of them. Spent a fortune here once, but no more. FOR THE RECORD: Today as I was trying on a hat with a drawstring, my mask slipped below my nose for a few seconds. As I was adjusting it, a clerk immediately scolded me for wearing it improperly. It felt as if I were being spoken to as if I were five years old. I work on the front lines in a heavily touristed area, and know how to politely and kindly ask customers to make a mask adjustment. Tone is everything. When I made a comment about this and expressed this sentiment, the young woman's coworker and supervisor rushed to her defense, going on and on about how WHAT she said was "necessary" and later how she said it was "professional. " It truly saddened me. I guess "kind" and "polite" are just lost on everyone in this store. I left the store feeling bullied, and told them as much. And yes, I raised my voice.

Good selection, helpful staff, prices seemed to be in line with any other specialty retailer.
