Edwards Crossing Bridge reviews
14 Great location to cool off. About 25 min from Nevada City. Road is windy, especially last 3 miles. There is a bathroom at beginning of trail head. Don’t wear flip flops. Trails rocky and slick in places.
200-300 yards up river from bridge has some great places to jump off rocks into water.
BEAUTIFUL view! I love camping at the primitive sites and hiking down to the water to swim. I recommend 10/10
Great spot to hike and soak in the Yuba River. Parking is limited and hiking down to the river can be hard for elderly people, or people with joint issues. There are many jagged rocks on the way down, so make sure to wear hiking shoes.
Amazingly beautiful spot to go for a hike or access the river for a day of fun in the water. We spent hours and hours floating around, swimming, cliff jumping, and exploring different swimming holes and rapids up and down the river. We even found a little natural water slide. It's so serene! And the water is the perfect temperature - not too cold, and it warms up throughout the day.
Keep in mind it can be difficult to actually get to the river. First, the drive down is pretty steep so be sure to shift into a low gear. Second, there are several trails that wind along both the north and south shore that can take you to all sorts of different spots, including some far away from other people, but once it's time to leave the trail and get to the actual shore, it WILL be steep and rocky so you need to be extremely careful. We managed it ok even with big inner tubes and a cooler but it was a struggle.
The other thing is parking. This is the biggest drawback here. We got extremely lucky and snagged the last spot on a hot Saturday at about 11 am. Everyone else parked illegally at the risk of a ticket, or had to wait it out until someone left. The lot was entirely full all the way up to about 6 pm, and even then just a couple spots were open. Plan accordingly!
As for the bridge itself, it looks beautiful but up close you can see the wooden slats are pretty rickety. Cross in your car at your own risk!
Bring water and sunscreen and food. There's a pit toilet at the parking lot but you'll need hand sanitizer after using it.
One of my favorite spots on the Yuba. Walk the trails with caution as the rocks can be slippery and there is lots of poison oak
Scenic historic bridge river crossing and popular swimming hole. The road in from Nevada City is now paved making it more popular.
Parking is available, but get there early. Pit toilets, no water. Pack it in, pack it out.
This area is beautiful. Take your time finding a spot that you can enjoy for hours. We stayed 5 hours swimming and tubing with the kids. Bring lots of water and food. And please, please pickup your trash and that of others. This place is dogs friendly.
First time checking out the south Yuba River and the historic landmarks dating back to before the Gold Rush. So much forest and wilderness to explore!
Easier parking along the road than Purden. Better swimming holes too. But access up and down the trail to river is steep and difficult. Temperature of water in late June is perfect.
Was a good time. My truck didn't like the down hill, brake got really hot and stinky.
Absolutely brutal incline down to this bridge. Keep that in mind if you’re running or cycling. One of the miles down to the bridge has about 70 stories of descent. Well-worth the adventure.
Nice swimming hole! Easy to distance from people. Bit of a steep walk down for some but worth it
Great place to relax. We showed up and got a good spot on a big flat rock! Water is deep enough to jump from rock into river for a good time.
