Tortilla soup was awesome. Fajitas were very greasy and not appetizing unfortunately. My wifes fajita bowl looked ok and came with some avocado. Fajitas are bare bones no avo or sour cream. Sort of a downgrade from my last visit: (

The best Mexican food I have ever eaten! The restaurant is beautiful. The food is original and unique to this restaurant. No other Mexican restaurant makes their dishes this way. I would highly recommend this restaurant!

Authentic flavors and a relaxing place to wet your whistle. Don’t sleep on the nfl Sunday specials.

Probably the most upscale Mexican joint in Sonora. The food is fun but a little pricier than other places. The extra price for the elevated cuisine is worth it though.

Gotta be honest. I do feel El Arroyo still has the potential to be good again but, I have been a little disappointed since after covid. Today was my wife and daughters bday, so we went there for our birthday lunch. I told the waitress I have not one but 2 birthday girls and she said ok we will take care of you guys. Did we get a candle on anything so we could sing happy birthday. Nope.kind of a bummer that I thought we were gonna have a birthday dessert but we werent even offered dessert at the end if the meal so i took my family somewhere else after.
On top of that over all as i do go there every month or so to get the mocajete bowls, the size of the portions are smaller, the prices are up considerably.
The price of a burrito is now the price of a mocajte bowl and the bowl that used to be under 20 is now closer to 30 and doesn't even come with the cooked jalapeños anymore and only give you 3 small flour tortillas and get kinda snooty if you ask for more.
So this time I ordered the house burrito bc I really like the Chipotle sauce and it may have been the smallest burrito I have had out of any Mexican restaurant or taco truck in sonora.it was like appetizer. Yeah it was good but paying 15 bucks for a kids size burrito felt even more disappointed and still plenty hungry.
Gonna probably go to any other place from now on. Too bad this was my number 1 spot to eat mexican in the area.

We stumbled upon a hidden gem in Sonora, CA - El Arroyo. The Mexican food here is simply amazing! We didn't read any reviews before visiting, so we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of food and service. We highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting the area. It's definitely worth a visit!

We were a group of 18 for dinner Friday night. We waited 5 minutes for them to set up two large tables. The waitress took our drink orders setting up multiple separate checks. We got chips and salsa and our drinks. She then took our meal orders. We chose a fish, rice and bean plate, a fundito (melted cheese with tortillas) and more chips and tortilla soup. We also tried shrimp fajitas and chicken taquitos. The fish was tasty, the shrimp from the fajitas was tasty. The chicken taquitos a little overcooked. The fundito could have used some salsa or meat, I guess I could have requested meat. The service was great.

My husband and I came here because we always wanted to sit by the cute little creek at night- Beautiful atmosphere outside! We waited awhile to be seated even though it was pretty slow. The food was quite delicious! They charge for chips and salsa, ok, whatever, but that’s for a tiny bowl of chips and literally a 1.5 ounce ramekin of salsa. (For reference, that’s about the size of a shot at a bar.) We were still fine with that, until we were informed that any more than our teeny 1.5 ounce ration of salsa would be an additional charge Well, we considered it rent for the pretty scenery and asked for some Tapatio- But probably won’t be back.

Excellent Authentic Mexican cuisine with a twist. Tha food is amazing with a cool atmosphere complete with outdoor seating and music. The margaritas are as good as you can get. The prices are great and the service is world class.

I didn't take any photos but I can't say enough about this place. I've tried several items and never had a bad experience. The staff is friendly and attentive as well. We go every time we're in Sonora.

The chicken quesadilla is delicious - the best I ate in my life for sure - and the service is 5 stars.
