El Cajon DMV

I needed to get a new driver's license and the attendant that helped me was awesome she helped make it very easy to take care of and fill out the forms and took my picture for the New ID, I wish I could remember her name she was a blessing, excellent personality knew exactly what needed to be done and took care of me totally it was a real pleasure going to the DMV this time

The same as all the others, the long lines and wait times are ridiculous. More employees needed, what should be setup with all these dmv in California is to setup computers for all customers in line to start entering information before entering to help speed up the process once in. Employees needs more training or redo/upgrade the system in use to a simplified system to get and enter information.

I already went in to do the VIN at the El Cajon office. I also gave them the smog certificate for my truck. I gave them all paperwork needed. They did give me my plates and registration. They said the title would be mailed. I get a notice from them stating they need my VIN, smog and power of attorney. Power of attorney not needed according to the title company. I made another appointment and went in again. The lady at the counter told me I needed to bring in the VIN, the smog, etc before she could even check on it! I didn’t have this with me because I figured they’d have the record of it since I was there and did the VIn with that office. Seems crazy to me. So now made another app ointment to go in and taking in all my paperwork. This is hard on me because I have trouble walking. I have no faith in this office!

We all know why would someone rate a DMV a one star rating but this place because of ALICA which I definitely don't know who she is but for the morals she carrying and the smile she had on her face that day made my day after my big lost a day prior. I wish they have her teaching and instructing others about how to deal with ppl in general. Thanks again Alicia.

Just like another reviewer said, this is not the El Cajon DMV experience of old! My family has had four visits to this location over the past year, and each one is quick, efficient, and pleasant. Every time I’m so surprised because I remember how it used to be! Good job to you all, thanks for totally turning this experience around! (I always go in the morning, so that’s when I’ve found it to be very little wait time.) (Bonus tip: if you’re taking the permit test, and you get test anxiety, you can ask for a written test, it is less stressful because you don’t get notified every time you get an answer wrong!)

After this experience the best time to go is right now. Look no long lines, The lady was very nice and very helpful and breezed me through everything.

I did the car test today and the people who make the route have incredible energy and gave me peace of mind. I wasn't nervous, despite having limited English. They are there to make it work.

Tested for mc permit in September. Waiting two months for hard copy with endorsements in mail.

Definitely easier than I thought it would to apply and obtain my real ID. Just over an hour for the whole process. What an improvement!

I did the majority of my real ID work online, then made an appointment only to show proof and get a photo taken. I was in and out in 10-15 minutes, it was great.

Was at the DMV it was great. Was in and out in about 45 minutes. They sure have improved their system.

I must give it to the DMV there in El Cajon. I was in and out in 36 minutes. I requested a replacement CDL and a driver's license record.
When I got out I turned around just to make sure that I had been in a DMV office. My hat is off to them. Thank you.

It was surprisingly nice. Everyone helped you. Very friendly. Just couldn't believe how well everything went.

As a guy who remembers the DMV of old, where surly was the norm, I must say that my appointment at the El Cajon office for my REAL ID was just fine. From the initial contact at the desk to the clerk who processed my application, everyone was pleasant and helpful. In and out in about 20 minutes, including the wait on line for a new photo. This was an appointment on a Wednesday at 10 am.
Well done, CA DMV!
