El Castillito reviews
12 Today, I ordered two burritos over the phone from Juan. I like to call in the order instead of using a.online service so the restaurant doesn’t have to pay an ordering fee. He asked me if I wanted super and I said no I’d like regular burritos. When I picked them up I was told they were super and asked to pay for super even after I explained I ordered regular. The sweet woman who was working the register went to talk to Juan. He told me I could wait 5 minutes for new burritos to be made and then says there’s no fish left and tried to talk me into paying extra for the super burritos. I explained to him I didn’t order super and should not be charged for something I didn’t order. He gave me attitude which I didn’t appreciate. I’ve witnessed similar behavior when ordering in the restaurant. His English is not very good and he seems to get extremely frustrated when there’s a communication breakdown.
Our conversation wasnt going anywhere so the cashier whispers to me that she won’t charge me extra. I left her a large tip that covered the cost of the super burritos.
The food is good and I’ve only had an issue with this one individual. I don’t understand why he’s allows to take food orders. If there is a next time we will be ordering online and not calling in our order.
Hidden S. F.gem. My go-to for "al pastor" burritos. Fast & efficient. Whatever you order, they create your meal in front of your very eyes. Friendly staff, they show that they love their customers.
For sure one of the best Mexican taquerias in San Francisco. Quality and portions will satisfy your needs. You won't be disappointed!
One of my favorite burritos in San Francisco.if not the world. I lean towards the carnitas and Al pastor for meat but I've tried chicken and beef along the way. The cilantro and onion bits are a nice extra too. The Super is so big it does me two meals and I'm a big eater.
I got a super burrito with Al Pastor with an horchata and it was so good and fresh. I will be coming back for more and trying everything on the menu.
Gargantuan, evil-fighting burrito. Can a burrito fight evil? Yes it can, here. The pro tip is to ask for both guac and avocado slices. They know the drill.
Now we can talk about this area where the J train slips into the hill and the junkies stumble around the Safeway. Chow is gone. The dirty movie store is gone, but el castillito quietly continues their holy mission. No throngs of tourists like la taqueria, no cafeteria dirty sweat box like el farolito. Yes, this is a sleeper spot. Even el Gordo with the multiple locations not far from each other still is cramped and annoying with long lines and waits and has a techy/suburban, too well behaved air. I'm just calling it a spacious sleeper spot. El pastor and asada highly recommended.
Another hidden gem in Castro/Church neighborhood. There are tons of taqueria in the city. However, this one has a very homie feel to it and serves unpretentious homemade Mexican food. You've gotta to try their nachos with beef, it's delicious and the portion is huge! This place seems to be the locals' favorite. As of May 2021, both dine in and take out are available. If you're craving Mexican food in this neighborhood, you should give it a try!?
My go-to taco shop in SF.amazing prices for the portions you get, the BEST aguas frescas in the city, and the staff is amazing!
Had the basic fish burrito with pinto beans. Oh my word. It was probably my favorite burrito ever, and I’ve had a fair few. Tender, lightly sautéed fish cubes, rice, beans, pico de gallo and fresh cilantro. The shell was so light and supple. Every bite was full of flavor. I will be back.
Incredible authentic Mexican, low key place. Expect deliciousness, large portions and quick service. I was shocked at how good the super burrito was (I had it with chicken). Would definitely go back in a heartbeat.
Next to the Mission or the Hayes area, don’t miss this one. The best and really made salsa I’ve tasted at a mexican restaurant, that’s the tip. The burritos are enormous a well made and tasty. I assure you: speaking of separate flavors, each of the stews are as if brought directly from the original source, México City mercado, or busy corner. Quesadillas are great too. Make sure you arrive before closing, be kind and if you arrive late or at the limit of closing: just be doubly kind, like any Mexican and smile asking for service
BY FAR.the best Mexican food and BY FAR the best value in San Francisco. HUGE portions at more than fair prices (unlike the prices of everything else in this town). Friendly staff and great service. If you're looking for Mexican food. STOP NOW. Do yourself a favor and hit these guys up. You won't be disappointed.
