My review is about the school of Sierra Ridge. My experience there was horrible. Although the teachers seemed caring and the office secretaries seemed as though they cared for the students.
Unfortunately, the staff aren't able to do their job competently because they spend the majority of the time getting the kids to listen. The students run the place and so do their parents. The school is afraid to have rules (like dress code) because the parents fight every turn. I am ok with parent's having a say, but having a line as to how short your skirt is, should be a rule that all schools should be able to have. Especially when said school has no P. E uniform. I feel as though the teachers have had enough. It seemed as though they had found a rescuer when the new principal arrived this year; yet he just caves to the children. My daughter was approached by a group of students, threatening her, and the school didn't once reach out to me as a parent to reassure me or to see if my daughter was ok. My daughter came home physically shaken. They were more concerned about me being upset. ON top of that, the Principal was more keen to listen to the bullies and the fellow students that would back them up. Being as I had worked there for a few months, I was aware of the students who would lie for each other, or at the very least, over exaggerate. Although the school superintendent had no idea about these students (as he himself told me) ; he chose to believe those students instead. The other bodies of staff were well aware of the fact that the person who threatened my daughter did that on a consistent basis to other students; therefore making it ok. The school is undisciplined, the school has lots of profanity, sexual conversations, and drug use on the campus; and the staff cover the students backs. I actually love these students, but I don't believe that in letting them get away with these characteristics are going to help them out at all. So I very much do not recommend this school unless the principal and the superintendent are gone.

It's really sad when you see the EDCOE vehicles for the schools speed through the school zones.

Terrible administration. Considering moving my child to a different district simply because of their failures to run basic business here in El Dorado County
