El Jefe reviews
16First time coming back to El Jefe in awhile for dinner with friends. The atmosphere and service were really good. The food however was not, I’ve eaten here before and the quality difference between them is noticeable. It was bland and disappointing especially for the price point. We also got some of their mixed drinks which were really good so it was disappointing not getting the same experience with the food. If you plan on coming here for a game stick to the apps and drinks.
The food was just ok, but the restaurant was very well kept.
The reason for the 2 stars, I don't like when you are charged gratuity, and the server isn't very good. Then they charge you a surcharge to use a debit or credit card. That's ridiculous. You should post that you charge a surcharge, or post it somewhere. 18% gratuity automatic, $2 for a side of jalapeños, $2.99 surcharge for using debit or credit card, crazy add on fees. I would never go back
Went to el jefe to grab some lunch and for a Friday it was pretty empty, easy to get seated
Red Chile Enchiladas, Chilaquiles and beans were the only decent items. Food was cold, restaurant was freezing. VERY EXPENSIVE
Went to get my car an oil change and this taco spot is only food spot so decided to give it a try well I wait for my car. Tacos are only 1.79$ pretty good!
The food was okay, I just had a problem with the extra charges, like a 12 dollar gratuity fee and a 2 dollar credit card fee and a 2dollar surcharge fee, if the server wud have notified us about it before hand I probably Wud have been okay with it but a 16 extra is craaaazy.
Very disappointed!
The Food was terrible.totally lacking in flavor.they use cheese sauce on nachos instead of actual cheese.the chicken wings just looked and tasted funky.the cheese quesadilla was rubbery.overall the food just sucked!
The service was slow and keep in mind there were only like 6 to 8 people sitting at the bar.my husband actually had to get up and walk over to the bar to order us drinks.which we're just ok.nothing special about them!
I would not recommend this place to anyone! Save your money and grab some tacos from one of the many street vendors you see otw there.
It was my 1st time there with a friend. The place was really nice. The food and drinks were good. The service was great! Our waitress was friendly and very helpful by explaining our options. We definitely planned to go back and try the brunch with Live music!
The outside area is amazing! The giant camphor tree sets the tone of the entire experience. Great ambiance. Will be going back just to sit under that tree!
The food was not bad, nor was it amazing. It's more atmospheric than anything. We were a party of 2 and were charged an 18% gratuity for a large party.
Awful service. We parked at a 2hr parking spot and some worker came and asked us if we were eating at the restaurant and we said yes. He left then came back and tried to charge us for valet even though we parked the car ourself and he never let us know that spot was for valet. 3 people in our party ordered off the vegetarian menu only to be told after we ordered the items were discontinued. We had to figure out something else to eat. Our waiter failed to let the other person know about the discontinued items and never realized it until we told him we were missing an order. He then told her the item was discontinued but at that point she decided to not order something else after waiting a long while. Also a lot of flies at the outdoor patio.
The food was mid and definitely not worth the price. My family and I went to brunch and they charge 40 for adults and 20 for children. They didn’t tell us till the end and did not mention that gratuity was included. Also we parked by the restaurant in a 2 hour parking spot and they tried to charge us by saying it was “valet” at the very end when we were leaving. Don’t recommend the brunch.
Great Food, great drinks, live music and the staff have great vibes!
Great Live Acoustic music on Saturdays!
It's a beautiful restaurant. The large, spacious outside patio area looks magical at night with the trees and lights. Big screen TV showing baseball and good music playing on the speakers. The service was exceptional! Fresh chips and salsa were soo good! The asada street tacos with your choice of green or red salsa (green was my favorite but the red salsa was good too) tacos are made with fresh tortillas. The rice and beans were so fresh, authentic and delicious and the sandia margaritas were incredible The house tequila is good too. It's perfect for a dinner date. Can't wait to return!
Wonderful, hidden gem in Pomona with excellent drinks. The mango margarita was to die for, but what we really enjoyed was the patio dining.
