Nice family owned/run restaurant. Food is amazing. Some of the best Burritos I’ve had. Highly recommended

Was craving some home style mexican food and this hit the spot. Enchiladas were bomb and the hostess was so friendly:)

We were looking for a Mexican restaurant for my birthday. We found El Jefe Cafe, and I'm so glad we did. It's one of those mom & pop places that has great service & atmosphere. We were greeted the moment we walked in, the staff was extremely kind & respectful. The food was absolutely delicious. Highly recommend their lemon margaritas, too. We will definitely be back.

I’m very disappointed at the quality of food! It was very bland! My shrimp was over cooked and no flavor at all. I ordered 7 different items and none were good. It really lacks flavor. It was an order to go. When we got to house we were missing items. Not happy at all! And I was not told that I would be charge a fee for using my atm. If I would if known I would have
payed cash. I will never return to this restaurant ever again.

They skimp on certain ingredients and portion sizes. Burrito was pretty much just a potato burrito, asked for other things in it but it was mainly all potato. Not worth the money to eat here.

The absolute BEST place for tacos de lengua! Horchata isn’t overly sweet, and the staff is very friendly.

Very happy with our experience. The breakfast machaca was good. Service was prompt and friendly. Prices were fair. Plenty of parking, too, which is always tough to find around most restaurants in San Clemente. We will be back.

We ate at this place because it was close to our hotel but the food was so-so. Good location and parking available

We had the fish and scallops with chips (fries). The service was great, the food would compare to Long John Silvers with less atmosphere on the patio. Prices are not bad for the area. I would try El Jefes gain to check out their tacos the fish and scallops are a "no" for me in the future

Their online menu shows old prices, ie $8.99 for 4 pcs of fish and chips charged $13.99 which is printed on their menu, but baited by online.could count the chips on one hand portions were small. Katchup and water are free. When asked to see the manager to let them know their online menu needed updating I was told, no manager and owner knows and wants online that way. Fish and Chips were good. Waitress friendly. FEEL RIPPED OFF and wonder if locals pay same prices? Trust lost. Btw 4% added for debit card or credit card use.refused to give me an itemized receipt, much more than 4% was added. AGAIN I FEEL RIPPED OFF. Wish the manager or at least the guy she went to when I asked to see the manager (whoever he was) would have talked to me. The fish and chips were good.have gone there for years.too bad they need to mislead customers.

A YEAR TO RESPOND. Sorry but Im trusting the waitress who said the owner knows of the deception and WANTS it that way. BTW ADDING MORE THAN 4% AND REFUSING TO CHANGE IT TO BE CORRECT IS JUST PLAIN HORRIBLE BUSINESS DESIGNED TO RIP OFF THE CUSTOMER.

A very pleasant place to eat and hang out, with a very Mexican atmosphere.
The attention of the staff was excellent, their attitude and disposition was too good.
Unfortunately I did not take a photo of the food but I chose breaded fish with potatoes and lemonade as a drink and everything was very well served. They have a large menu of Mexican food. I will return without a doubt.

Shrimp Cocktail is too sweet. Garlic shrimp tasted boiled not pan fried did not taste like garlic either it was bland. Cook needs improvement in cooking.

Tacos are street, not crispy. The enchiladas are small and also serving size. The fish and shrimps are fabulous!

Excelente! Jose the owner served us. He was so attentive and talked to us for a while. The food has an authentic taste. There's many options to choose from, the nachos with beans is a must. Jose thank you from your costumers from puerto rico.
