El Mero Mero reviews
11I have gone 2 or 3 times a week because the food is delicious. My favorites are the golden taquitos and the chicharrón huaraches and now they have fried rajas quesadillas, I think they are going to be my favorites now. In just one word everything is delicious in the grouper.
It's been a while since I've came to eat here I mean even before it got more known and popular when it was just a whole in the wall kind of thing, but the food was even more authentic like a home cook meal and it was Grandma's carried on recipe. Today I'm mainly just giving a shot out to the good employees that work there and helped me and my fiance out. We just happened to run out of gas right in front of restaurant, we had extra gas already in out tank but we asked them for a empty water bottle to use as a funnel and they went out of there way to help us. So shot out to the good people working there and for there amazing food I gotta go back and support there business thank you team for helping another human being in need of help not many out there left.
Ordered a menudo, caldo de res and horchata. The food was fresh and delicious! Handmade tortillas included with soups and a delicious compliment to the food. Will definitely be coming back
My husband and I have been coming here for years ever since Covid or the change original ladies that cook there. The food hasn't been the same. The Carne asada use to be tasty now its not cooked right and full of fat. I won't be coming here anymore. I posted before and after picture the quesadillas.
Ive been going here for 30 yrs and today was my last day new owners and prices went up & food salty af
The truth is that they have spent years eating there and until now with a change of owners that horrible and tasteless food they charge more and give less, I do not recommend it at all
This is one of THE FINEST authentic Mexican Restaurants in the Chicago Metropolitan Area.
Thank you for serving us, Jenny, she is wonderful and everyone at the restaurant was pleasant!
Food: Certainly flavorful and my photos of the amazing Chicken Fajitas and more posted showcases the delicious thought and care put in by the chef. Go Here!
Service: Fast, Friendly, and Welcoming
Budgeting: I found most menu items fairly priced and thank you El Mero Mero for keeping your pricing fair as your food and drinks are outta this world amazing!
Summary:
This is a joint you absolutely want to make certain you go to if you enjoy Mexican food. Even 1%, go here and you will likely be 100% satisfied like me!
I appreciate you Jenny, she is the kindest and smiled anytime I saw her! I was just chilling here with 1 other person.
5 Star Experience? Yes
Chips and Salsa? Yes, and Fresh too!
P. S. This restaurant was previously named El Meson but the food and entire experience has been elevated with El Mero Mero taking over, well done and Enjoy the finest dining my friends!
Flavorless food. Ordered 2 Tacos de birria, 1 burrito de asada and both were so disappointing. The salsa is so watered down and not spicy at all! Nothing memorable about this place. If I could give it 0 stars I would. Also lots of crackheads frequent here.
Good for menudo but the rest of the food is so so. Ordered some chicken taquitos a little plain won't order them again. UPDATE: so I gave the other food another try along with some of their delicious menudo! I got some loaded nachos with cabeza, my son had loaded nachos with asada, and I got a champurrado and a pina agua. The nachos were really good and crunchy. Some chips got a little soggy but thats normal. They sure were loaded! And the meat was tender and good! The champurrado ill stay away from next time it was NOT tasty at all. It really was flavorless! I'm not sure how much it was but I won't order it again. I paid about $51 for 2 orders of loaded nachos with meat 1 large menudo with hominy and pata, 1 large pina agua, and a champurrado. So I would say its an ok price I would've thought they would charge more but thank goodness. Definitely recommend trying their menudo especially on a Sunday morning after some Saturday night drinking
Me and my brother were at El Mero Mero Restaurant, before this restaurant I tried to find the good one menudo at Easth Los Angeles, North Hollywood and somewhere else never find the right flavor, But I found this one it is perfect flavor with home made tortillas (corn) we love it.
