El Rancho Motel, Coronado CA

Nice little hotel. There is negligible room service so you might need to do basic cleaning yourself. Great location though, very close to the ferry, the beach, and some great bars. The outdoor furniture is a nice addition.

We booked in advance and were looking forward to staying. I received courtesy texts and detailed instructions prior to arrival, but a day before we were meant to arrive, they had a plumbing issue and they sent a message saying they'd booked us a room in a comprable nearby hotel free of charge to make up for the inconvenience. If that is not Amazing customer service, I don't know what is. P. S. I look forward to staying at El Rancho motel next time I go to Coronado to give them a more detailed review, and I am sure I'll be happy staying there.

This room is very small but for the location, cleanliness and comfort of the beds, it is a great place to stay. We had a wonderful time in San Diego and loved our little place at El Rancho

Love the location and the aesthetic of this motel! The lower review is because the daily cleaning of the room was a bit surprising to me. The only service that seemed to occur during the cleaning was new towels and the bed was made. The counters weren’t cleaned, the used drinking cups were not replaced, carpets not vacuumed and no tidying at all. Even as I looked under the bed to make sure I had all my belongings it seemed clear the floor underneath had not been vacuumed in a very long time. The wifi was very spotty which was a big negative for me as well. I stayed here for Comic Con so I didn’t spend a long time in the room so for me personally I would actually stay again because it worked well for this kind of vacation. I just hope if I stay again the maid service is more thorough and the wifi is stronger.

My husband and I were here fur 3 nights. We never seen anyone in the office. We tried to call and ask a question and even that was challenging, you had to leave a message. It said the housekeeping started at 9. We lage and 11 one day and she still wasn't there. We had to get our own supplies from office using a code on the door. And if that wasn't bad enough we found bed bugs. We will never stay here again.

Very cute place! Great staff, we asked for a later check out they were extremely helpful! I would highly recommend this place and will be back here again!

They amount of good reviews this motel got is suspect to say the least. Rooms were janky and small. The room we stayed in overnight was dreadful. Cleanliness? Nonexistent. I don’t know what other reviewers are talking about when they said this motel was “very clean. ” It’s not. Balls of lint and hair all over the floor. Dust everywhere, I can feel it with every inhale. Do not walk on the floors barefoot or with socks on because if you do your feet or socks will end up black. I can tell housekeeping doesn’t do their job. Not only were the floors disgusting, the bedsheets were another thing. There were stains on the bedsheets and pillows, I didn’t even want to get into bed. The bathroom was also in bad condition. The shower floor had black dirt stains. The toilet paper roll looked used. Toothpaste spit stains on the sink faucet. The towels had some kind of film that left a residue on your skin. I ended up just using my daughters baby wipes to wash up, that’s how bad the towels and shower was. Beds were uncomfortable and hard. Pillows had stains, hair and were flat and hard.

Overall, this stay was very unpleasant. Couldn’t even sleep because of how uncomfortable the room made my family and I feel. I would advise anyone to steer clear of this motel. This stay was NOT worth $174 for one night.

Only pro I can think of was the location but even then we could hear every loud engine and motorcycle revving overnight.

I was checking this out for friends and did not actually stay here, but I recommended it to them wholeheartedly and would stay here myself in a second. It's a blink-and-you-miss it tiny motor hotel, but it has a charm all its own. The very friendly housekeeping staff showed us a couple of rooms, and they seemed very clean and well maintained and well equipped. Given the fact that this is Coronado, the rates also are pretty amazing.

Hard to find some weird road to get there missed it three times the rooms are small the landlady very nice the beds suck be g time like rolled up sheets for a mattress

Small lodging venue with very nice presentation. Very loud location due to proximity to street and insufficient wall insulation made it hard to sleep. Only had 4 possible parking spots (1 ADA) for the bldg in the alley and street parking and street parking was tough to find as alley access due to one way streets.

We decided to stay another night on our vacation but needed to switch hotels due to availability and we were pleasantly surprised by how cute this motel is. It's location was PERFECT, staff was AMAZING (Thank You Irene)! I am planning on booking another vacation this fall and will most certainly be staying here again.

The room was not what we expected it to be. VERY VERY TIRED, needs a deep clean and renovation. It was as I had stepped into a dive motel room in Tijuana. The only cute thing about it was the outdoor area and wallpaper. The beds were hard and pillows were flat. Floors were so dirty that my feet got black. The tiles were cracked and grout at one time was light in color. The bathroom vent was filthy and floor around the toilet dirty. The bathroom surrounded me with mirrors and I saw parts of me that spooked me while showering. The shower temperature wasn’t unstable and got bursts of hot water onto my body causing red spots on my skin. The bathroom sink backed up the entire time. Did report the issues to staff and reported that the “issue was fixed” they were not accommodating. NOT WORTH THE PRICE. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

Be stayed at another hotel on the island and left disappointed every single time! This was my 1st time staying at El Rancho & everything was great! & I stayed in the suite for a great price! Very clean! Easiest no contact check in & I was even able to check in hours early. I will definitely be back!

Adorable, cute place.a little quirky. Small rooms but were clean and beds were comfortable enough. Just a quaint little motel property on Coronado Island, walking distance to restaurants, some cute shops, and to the San Diego ferry. Safe neighborhood which is good since parking is a little tough if you come back to the hotel late. I would stay here again. I had an unexpected and sudden family emergency which delayed our vacation by a day and the owner was super awesome allowing us to stay an extra day to make up for our missed day (we had to change rooms, but we were happy to be able to complete our vacation the way we had planned it). Housekeeping moved our stuff for us while we were our enjoying the Island.

Pros: Location is decent. The beds seemed clean. The A/C worked great. The closet was the best feature which is sad.

Guest service gets a freebie since social distancing. You basically walk in the office and grab your key. Nobody in sight. There is a direct line phone there but didn’t work. They send you a text with details. The lady on the phone was nice enough, and tried to help with my questions.

Cons: The bathroom/shower looks like a rest stop bathroom. Extreme disrepair; the tile is an absolute sh*^show. The glass shower door opens up and collides with the toilet? Ok. Not sure how many times that has been broken. Room needs a thorough cleaning, including up high. There are only 5 parking spaces for twice as many rooms, so good luck finding a parking spot on Coronado. It wasn’t the worst place I have stayed, but I do not recommend staying here.
