El Rosal 2, Modesto CA

Very disappointed in the food. El Rosel used to be great. My tamale was dry, have had better from save mart. The chilli relleno looked like it was frozen food, it was flat no more than a quarter inch thick. Not what I expect from here. Will be looking for a new Mexican restaurant. Wishing I had gone across the street to Taqueria San Jose!

We go here all the time. The service is usually pretty good. Food is good. My husband loves this place.

I enjoyed everything about this place, the food and vibe was wonderful. The only negative was the parking lot lighting was dark and sketchy also the restaurant sign wasn't lit as well which made me question if it was even open. I'm glad I took my chances though lol it was worth it.

Usually food is good, but this time, the food gave me a terrible headache and stomach ache after only a few bites, I felt like my kidneys were having a hard time functioning. I raised my glass of beer to the light and saw a lot of stuff floating inside.wow. I will definitely not go there again.

I have come here several times for lunch and dinner, weekends mostly and food is great, the restaurant sometimes is understaffed so there is a wait for food and seating, but once they start taking care of you they are very attentive and they make sure everything is good for the customer.

It's a great Mexican food spot and has been for 20-25 yrs that I know of for sure! I rated 4 stars on the food only because the green sauce on my burrito was considerably more spicy than I've ever had. Oh no.it did not stop me from finishing every bite (the chips helped tremendously! Lol)!
And the house margarita was on point and also finished to the last drop!

We waited in line 10-15 mins.then seated.after ordering we waited 45 mins for food. So many empty tables and long line out the door. At least get them out of the heat? I understand maybe not enough staff but common courtesy

This was the best I've had here ever, thank you Jaime. I'm not a fan but my wife loves it here. We have patronized the El Rosal restaurants in the area for over 20 years and I may hafta change my mind after having the BEST Torta I've had in quite some time. It was perfect, from the buttery toasted bun to the fresh produce and the perfectly seasoned asada. WOW.

Service was excellent, chips and salsa perfect and fresh, the meal couldn't have been any better. Oh yes, yes the wife was happy with her meal "Chicken Enchilada" as always.

Prices were fair and some very good. I love Camarone's A la Diabla and the price here is lower than most other popular restaurants so I'll be back to try it out.

We will be back soon since now I'm a fan too. 5 STARS because you earned it.

If you're looking for an authentic Mexican experience look no further! El Rosal is the perfect spot for your pleasure. They've got perfect drinks they've got amazing food, what more could you ask for? I'm definitely going back for sure

Awful experience here. Not family friendly. Needs so much training on customer service. Jamie needs the most focus. Disgusting

Very disappointed, completely lost my appetite when Jaime was homophobically yelling at a couple for sharing a kiss. Disgusting display.

Discrimination, disrespect and terrible service.

Two friends of mine came here to dine. They had a moment where they shared a small kiss (peck) because what couple doesn’t?

From the moment they walked in, they sensed an uncomfortable atmosphere. The staff's unfriendly stares and whispered exchanges made it clear that they were being treated differently because they are a gay couple. It's disheartening to think that in this day and age, such discrimination still exists.

Throughout their meal, the service they received was lackluster and indifferent. Their requests were ignored, and they were left waiting for an unreasonably long time for their orders to be taken and their food to arrive. It's evident that their treatment was affected by the restaurant staff's prejudice.

The food they received was subpar and poorly prepared, leading them to believe that the kitchen staff's prejudice extended to the very dishes they were served. This just added to their disappointment and frustration.

As someone who cares deeply about our LGBTQ+ community, it's heart-wrenching to know that our friends had to go through such an upsetting experience. We stand firmly against any form of discrimination, and we believe that no one should have to face judgment or mistreatment based on their sexual orientation.

Our friends deserved a memorable and enjoyable dining experience, but instead, they were met with discrimination and disappointment. Let this be a reminder that every business should strive to treat all customers with respect and kindness, regardless of their sexual orientation.

I hope that El Rosal takes this feedback seriously and implements meaningful changes to create an inclusive and welcoming environment for all patrons. Until they demonstrate a genuine commitment to inclusivity, we cannot in good conscience recommend this restaurant to anyone else.

I love the food there my favorite is chile relleno with the red sauce I love their bean dip and their flour tortillas. It's my spot.

Don’t bother coming here. They have rude and disrespectful servers, in particular Jamie. He harassed my two close friends for sharing a kiss. This place needs to hire people that treat others with respect and kindness. There’s no excuse for homophobia in 2023 and especially not in the publicly humiliating way it was displayed. The way he acted was beyond inappropriate. Hope you can learn some common decency and respect for others Jamie.

Had friends from SF took them there. SO DISAPPOINTED only 7 tables had people. The hostess was rude told us we couldn't have an empty booth and that there would be a 20 minute wait. There was a staff of 10 in the place that I counted. Have been there a lot never had that bad experience even when it's packed. My friend is a professional chef. Not impressed at all. I was impressed after telling her how good the place was.
We went across town to Family Juarez got great treatment and a great meal. My friend was impressed with how good the food was and the prices for the meal was very good. Not sure if we will go back to El rosel again!

Jaime, whoever he is or thinks he is, is homophobic and kicked out a couple for an innocent kiss? Embarrassed and berated friends of mine and got to continue with his shift after the incident with no issue. Completely inappropriate, uncalled for, discriminatory, and illegal. Don’t eat here!

Its been a few years since I been to El Rosal. Took my sister there for her birthday lunch. We only waited a xoyple of mintues to be seated. The service was good n the food came out reasonably quick. Tge food seemed to have an American flare to it. I like authentic mexican food much better.
