Bar El Techo reviews
17This place was fantastic on a warm, blue sky day in the Mission. Basking in the sun or chilling in the shade, this place has the right vibes in spades. Latin influenced with great music, definitely not quiet! The drinks were amazing, I’d recommend some classic margaritas. Along with the chips and guac I recommend the chicharrones, they were so tasty. Fried perfectly with a slight sweet finish, you can’t go wrong here! They bring out the food and drink almost as soon as you you order it!
My friends and I went for drinks early evening on a Saturday, and though there was a line to get in, the wait wasn’t long. It was packed, and they seemed understaffed. Empty glasses and abandoned cocktails were everywhere. The drinks were fine. You get a nice view, but not much else.
It was delicious. We ordered fried yuca, meatballs and roast beef and everything was quite tasty. Also pretty good mocktails.
It is recommended to arrive with a reservation.
Extremely yummy food, probably some of the best pork I’ve ever had in my life! The tuna tostada is also phenomenal. Expensive but worth it.
It's okay. The elote wasn't edible, we had to send it back, tuna torte was flavourless
The food at this hip rooftop bar was phenomenal. The tacos dorados are crispy deliciousness filled with cheese and soft potatoes. The fried plantains have a crispy coating of sugar that make the dish unique. And the chicken meatballs, which came with rice, beans, and tortillas, are as good as any authentic Italian meatball I’ve had. The alfajores were not the best part of the meal but still good. The Paloma cocktail was excellent and I wished I had more time to savor it before the food arrived lickety split!
Don't know why this place has great reviews. Drinks were okay, food was oily, nothing great, only good thing was there guacamole. Waiter was rude, when asked if you can bring me the bill, he said his shift is over and he is leaving, no wonder he got $0 tip. When asked about any food item that I didn't understand, he gave me a look.
Not visiting again for sure
Nice rooftop experience with good food and good drinks.
Personally, I enjoyed the QR code option of ordering from your phone and being able to close your bill out without having to wait or ask for a server.
The chicarrones were tasty and HUGE - make sure you come hungry!
Terrible place. Staff is rude and ill-mannered, I felt totally unwelcome. Don't come here, you will have a terrible experience.
The location and liveliness of the atmosphere is everything. Drinks and bar bites were also really good but the sit down food disappointed a bit. Very heavy on the meat and cheese and felt light on the fresh and balancing flavours.
I’m sure their food is probably pretty good but what they don’t appear to mention is that while the bar is open late the kitchen actually closes earlier. So I came hungry and this place was open but no longer serving food. Might be an idea to post kitchen close somewhere online, Cheers.
Kinda not the Mission food experience I wanted. Not big portions, overseasoned. That day though we just wanted to sit on a rooftop and this was a good place for that.
Wonderful place to have mothers day brunch. Such a beautiful view of the SF skyline and bay
First off, you don’t need to use the stairs to get up to the restaurant. My friend & I went for dinner. We were guided to a table but not told we were supposed to order through a website by scanning a QR code, just that the menu is there. We also got a physical menu & just used that. We eventually asked someone to help us & they did, they were cool. Unfortunately they didn’t continue helping us. The person that did help us after seemed annoyed at us. Food was great tho also my friends fish tacos were a bit greasy. Highly recommend either way
You go to this place for the view and ambiance, period. I went with 4 other friends for happy hour. It was standing room only but we were happy to be let in right away. Happy hour drinks were fine! Tasted premade (which was fine.) The Yuca Fritas were also fine. Truly the draw is the insane views of the san francisco bay area and the glass walls they have around the rooftop that block the merciless wind and keep the space at a consistently comfortable temperature. Would definitely go back.
Absolutely to suggest. The food was delicious and the cocktails were good too. The best part is the view of San Francisco since it's a rooftop restaurant. The prices are fair. You can order conveniently via smartphone and pay online.
The food is edible, but it's also not memorable. I ordered a "large" plate of Camarones a la Diabla, but it was so small that I had to get extra food after I left the restaurant. My party ordered Albondigas de Pollo en Mole, there was no trace of mole in the dish. It's also loud and tacky, but it wouldn't matter if the food was better.
