Elán Casa Mar Apartments

My family & I moved in start of the pandemic. The unit we were shown was a nice upgraded 2 bed 2 bath with microwave, breakfast nook & vinyl flooring. The unit we were given after weeks of trying to get in contact with them was a run down looking 2 bed 2 bath with no microwave or breakfast nook. When doing the move in checklist there were many things I brought up that needed attention. Patio screen door was falling off its hinges, faucets would spray out unevenly, old kitchen cabinets were painted over, fridge would leak, the list went on & on. When putting in maintenance requests, the head of the maintenance team was rude & disrespectful. Old appliances were swapped out often, but would still have problems. It took over a month to replace our dishwasher & management refused a new one be ordered. There are 4 old washers & dryers for the whole complex that constantly broke down. There are no AC units, except in the management office, THOUGH THEY ARE NEVER THERE! It felt at times that management would avoid our calls when there were issues we’d bring up. At times it would take weeks to reach anyone by phone.
When we finally were able to move out after almost 3 years, we expected to receive some of our deposit back but instead were sent a letter stating we owed money to them. I didn’t agree with the charges & tried calling and emailing for weeks with no answer, until almost 3 weeks later Im sent another letter stating we have 10 days to pay our remaining balance or legal actions will be taken, 2 days before the due date! Living there was a constant headache. The area is just okay, & the price was fair at one point but the management & maintenance team were just AWFUL.
