Elephant Seal Vista Point reviews
19This was a very cool stop along Highway 1 in California. If you are traveling along this highway, I fully recommend that you take the time to stop and visit with the Elephant Seals! We were there in October and there were about one hundred juvenile Elephants Seals laying on the beach. The local Elephant Seal Volunteer told us that the juveniles would not eat for the next month or so and then spend about seven months at sea. We were fascinated with this event!
Such cute little ones out there this time of year. A volunteer goes around and answers questions about the seals. Right now there are babies and young ones. He said the older, breeding males and females would come in some time in December. The ones here would leave then.
Very nice place to watch lake elephants. The parking lot is free and visitors are spread out well along the path along the coast.
Delightful and educational. The volunteers are a wealth of knowledge regarding these magnificent. We drive up to Cambria several times a year and enjoy seeing the elephant seals at different stages of development. Take a jacket, often windy.
Must see if driving down CA 1. Beautiful walk along the coast. No dustbin. Need to take trash with u in the car.
Lots of adolescent seals this time of year. No adults with trunk-like noses. They arrive in the winter. But a great viewing area next to the parking lot that keeps people away from the wildlife while offering wonderful viewing.
One of my favorite parts of California is the wildlife. I love being able to see the animals without invading their space. These animals are so beautiful and huge even from a distance!
One of the most impressive points on the West Coast. Sea Lions in their habitat and in large numbers. We loved it.
Cute young seals play fighting. Very helpful foundation man there explaining things. Also saw the Oct 2023 eclipse.
Perfect spot to see the seals. Truly magnificent. Well worth stopping on your route through San Simeon.
As the name suggests, we saw elephant seals here. There was enough parking space and you can walk along a small path along the coast.
Nice place to visit if you are on Hwy 1 or visiting Hearst Castle.can spend 15-45 mins at this place.many elephant seals at this place, sleeping, shouting, fighting (at least that's I thought). Fun place for kids
Great place to learn more about the elephant seal population. Enjoyed the viewing area just north of the center.
Came twice here! There were a lot in the late afternoon! Very good spot to watch them! Loved it
The place where we can see the crowd of Elephant Seals. In the summer season, there are only babies, like standard seals, so you may not recognize the place is special. On the flip way, you'll see the giant adults in the winter season.
The volunteers explained everything in detail and were very friendly. Got to know a lot about elephant seals, very informative.
This is a worthwhile 15-30 minute stop as you're driving the PCH. We didn't know about it and stopped soley based on the highway signage. There were dozens (perhaps hundreds) of elephant seals and it was quite entertaining watching them move around on the sand and play with each other (or maybe they were fighting?) in the water. Good photo opportunity.
Gorgeous views even if the elephant seals aren't there! It was a highlight of our Pacific Coast trip.
Great visit! Definitely worth the stop if you want to see elephant seals. Weekday visit in very early October had no crowd, no wait. No fees or admission costs. Solid boardwalk would make it accessible for those who have mobility challenges. Very close drive (5 minutes) if you happen to be visiting Hearst Castle.
