Emergency Room at Dignity Health - Mercy Hospital Southwest, Bakersfield CA

I just want to say thank you to the emergency staff who are very courteous and caring during a very difficult situation with our daughter. Who was diagnosed with RSV. The ER nurses like Valerie and Amber and Gene really made a difficult situation much easier to deal with. Thanks to there great care our daughter is doing well.

The staff there was incredibly helpful and supportive throughout my visit. Shoutout to the lady upfront for going above and beyond to make me feel comfortable. "

Idk where to start but I felt like I was forced to go in when I was outside on the phone with my wife trying to figure out what my insurance will cover.after feeling pressured I decided to check in, once I checked in I was quickly serviced and started doing my vitals in the waiting room.shortly after I was taken back and they literally tossed me a cup to pee in after that I saw Dr. Taylor Walsh while sitting in the hallway of the ER rooms. Dr. Walsh then went on to ask a few questions and proceeded to use her dirty phone to look down my throat, she obviously thought that was enough bc she didn't use the stethoscope to check my lungs and heart when I had High blood pressure. Not knowing what my insurance would cover I then went on to ask for the EKG to check my heart which is why I was there in the first place. After the test the nurse rudely discharged me like I was wasting everyones time.especially since I opted out of the booster and the 3 other test they wanted to run before doing a thorough evaluation of what could be wrong.since the nurse Jennifer told me they cannot help or do anything for me bc I opted out of the test. Speaking with Dr. Walsh I told her how uncomfortable I felt with Jennifer and then went on to ask for basically a written timeline for my visit with her written observations of my EKG and my vitals, then she went on to tell me in front of her colleagues and my wife that this isn't McDonald's you can't pick what you want.then I went on the explain why I opted out of certain things because I could not afford it, she went on to belittle me and talk to me as if I had free insurance loudly stating "Im sorry if you have Med-cal or Medi-care. " Even if I did have free insurance that doesn't mean she should do her job to best of her abilities to help someone. I did not attack her character which leaves me baffled that she would take personal and attack me personally.too Make things worst I woke up with extreme flue symptoms and the extra stress I had at the ER definitely contributed to this.

The worst hospital I have ever been to sat in a wheelchair for 5 + hours in major pain the nurse's there dont care they would just ignore me when I had questions requested a bed and they told me they had no beds then they take me to a back room that had 2 open beds still no bed for me request water and never got a bottle water.

My mom went at 2am breakfast was sat outside her room for an hour. Mind you she can’t walk well and can’t use her right arm to go get it herself. She waited over an hour for medication after constantly vomiting. Every time I call I’m on hold for about 45mins - and hour.

Currently in a bed waiting 2+ hours for a surgeon to tell me I can go home. Waited 4+ hours in pain and agony until they finally gave me a simple pain killer - was on the verge of passing out. I’m better and just want to get discharged from this horrible ER. I notify the nurse constantly on the remote that my machines are beeping errors, and they take an hour to just give me a warm blanket.

Hate this place. Don’t come here.

Don't go here. Bad reviews long wait times rude staff no visitors allowed for emergency area unless already in a room
My wife's inside now for 4 hours I still can't sit with her. I took her food and water they don't provide patients in lobby with any food or water while they waits hours my mom came here and had to wait around for 22 hours security knows all other facilities allow visitors,
Dignity does not. I really wished we were anywhere else, but here today.
Dignity has no dignity for its patients loved ones.

Extremely bad service. Doctor at ER very irritated that I came in.

I lost feeling in the one side of my face and was advised by an urgent care doctor to immediately go to ER because they were scared it was a stroke.

They only serve you if you plan to wait more than 4 hours for the entire process.
I arrived at 6, it's 10 and there are only two of the 5 things they will do to my companion
It's not the first time I've come so I'm patient in waiting.
Everyone is friendly, from security, CT SCAN, x-ray and more nurses

Interesting how this hospital keeps apologizing for their pathetic service, but don’t do anything to change.

My daughter she is very sick and they keeping me waiting for around 3 hours they didn't do anything

If I could give a 0 I would. I went in at 2am for horrible pelvic pain. The pain was so intense I was barely able to stand on my own my boyfriend had to help me get up and walk through the ER. DR. Or Nurse Jordan came up to me and when I told her my symptoms she said what I “probably had CANT be treated in the ER I need to go see a specialist” I told her I was seeing one already and they were no help so as a last resort I came to the ER. She brushed me off and said there’s nothing they could do and she wasn’t gonna give me any opioids for what what wrong with me. I NEVER ONCE asked or even brought opioids. I was shocked. She rolled her eyes and sarcastically said “ohhh you can barley stand? Come on now. ” when I told her how bad my symptoms were. She made me feel so stupid for even going in. I will never in my life go back there.

I have never experienced such unorganized chaotic horrible care in my life! Worse than a third world country… shame on you!
