Before, for me, the Kaiser was the best, today we pay for bad service from the moment you arrive, the emergency room is chaos, the security sees that you are sick and tells you that they are full, that they do not attend and one paying their membership is honestly inhumane, the 7 hour wait with all the money they charge and they have worse care than a community hospital

My mother was discharged from the ER dept. From the time she was their up until her discharged due to her having a episode they treated her horribly and inhumane. The nurse Eng, David, and the rest of the ER nurses they are untrustworthy they never changed her she was soaked when she got home as well her skin was tender also the diaper was soaked all the way through i took pictures. She was dehydrated and extremely hungry i don't believe they ever fed her. These two nurses in particular Eng and david are not fit to be nurses and the rest of them
as well. When I spoke with this nurse eng he was very passive and rude I believe they falsify documentation on patients EHR my mother was treated with so much disrespect. On top of this the case manager Micha was racist and the social worker Romeo was deceptive trying to say the family would have to pay out of pocket for ER out of pocket for a extra stay my mom has been a kaiser patient for a decade if we get any bills i will be calling
a attorney The ER manager Olga never took the complaints seriously the drs are greedy for money.
Seriously I will never allow my mother to ever come back to this incompetent racist hospital. If you have an elderly love one and value good health for them please do not allow them to come to this ER or Atleast stay with them and keep a watchful eye on them they are abusers and I see all the negative reviews so I'm not suprised i have family in the medical field I heard that they discriminate against people of color. They are going to end up being sued. Please do not come here if you are a person of a certain race the bad reviews speaks volumes a I will be telling my coworkers and friends that are in the health care field. My family members will be canceling insurance with them and I will make sure. Forwarned

Staff was kind, warm, and insightful. What wasn't warm, by any stretch of the imagination, was the emergency room. From 8pm until 3am, on one of the coldest nights Los Angeles has recently seen, the emergency room was left with its door propped open, AND the air conditioner was running.

An emergency room full of ill patients, and these ill patients, myself included, were barely kept indoors. Multiple patients, patients already in a bad situation, had to make the extra effort to request blankets for additional warmth.

I am writing to share my deep concerns about the recent emergency room visit my grandmother had on December 5,2023, at Panorama City, under the care of Dr. David Elias Diaz.

Upon my grandmother's admission to the ER due to a cough, fever, and disorientation, I expressed my worry to Dr. Diaz that she might have Encephalitis again. Despite my concern and explanation about her previous presentation and the symptoms she was currently experiencing, Dr. Diaz dismissed the possibility, attributing her confusion solely to fever and dehydration, and insisted it was the flu causing her distress.

However, I must emphasize that when my grandmother previously had Encephalitis, her symptoms mirrored what she was experiencing in the ER. Moreover, Dr. Diaz's notes contained inaccuracies regarding her level of confusion and awareness, stating she was less disoriented than she actually was and wrongly claiming she was fully alert to person, place, and time. She was only alert to person and place which was very alarming given the fact that it was her daughters birthday. Something she would never forget.

Feeling that my concerns were not being taken seriously, I requested Dr. Diaz to consult with my uncle, Dr. Ochoa, an ER physician, who echoed my worries in the hope that his mother would not be discharged. Despite this, she was discharged, which I found alarming, especially as she was unable to walk, a situation contrary to her usual ambulatory ability. When I raised this concern to Dr. Diaz he stated that her strength was good yet at no point during the visit to her ask her to stand. If he would have done so he would have witnessed her inability to stabilize herself while standing.

Unfortunately, after being discharged, my grandmother developed pneumonia from possibly aspirating in her sleep, a situation that could potentially have been avoided had she been admitted for proper care and monitoring. Subsequently, on December 6,2023, her condition deteriorated to the point where we had to call 911 due to speech aphasia and left-sided weakness. She was initially taken to Henry Mayo, as Kaiser reportedly had no available room. Eventually, she was transferred to Kaiser after a bed became vacant. This series of events not only posed infection risks but also inflicted unnecessary discomfort upon her and delayed crucial care. As I’m sure you are aware the first hours of care are crucial when experiencing neurological episodes. Had she not been discharged she would have received the appropriate test and medication needed to begin addressing her encephalitis.

I understand the complexities of healthcare systems and the pressures they face, yet it's disheartening to witness such neglect and oversight, especially when it involves the well-being of a cherished family member. My grandmother is not merely a statistic but a beloved individual—a cornerstone of our family.

As a clinical doctoral occupational therapy student at USC, I am acutely aware of the challenges within our medical system. However, I implore those who have pledged to prioritize patient care and well-being to uphold their oath. My grandmother deserves better, as do countless others who rely on compassionate and competent healthcare.

I kindly request a thorough investigation into this matter and hope for a reevaluation of the care protocols in place to prevent similar occurrences in the future. Your attention to this issue is immensely appreciated.

Thank you for your time and understanding.

From my experience last night that the whole staff is still seem to be on strike, I went to the ER to be seen only to find out I had to wait 3 hours and was never seen by a doctor I had to go home with the pain and decided to go to the Downey branch the next day.

It has been the worse that I had to experience, My father has no insurance I took him to the ER about a month ago at a county hospital and he was in and out within 2 hours I don’t think it’s worth having and paying for Kaiser.

Not to mention the security guards were so loud and annoying you would think they have an office or a locker room in the huge building. I seem more security guards than nurses in that building.

Went to ER with upper respiratory distress and chest pain, after 2.5 hours, five people who came in after me were seen and left, they took my vitals again and finally “upgraded me to priority”. After 3 hours I left because the staff was invalidating and gaslighting the fact I was losing feeling in my feet and hands, and despite coming in for CHEST PAIN AND BREATHING PROBLEMS I never saw a doctor. THANK GOD my best friend had an extra asthma inhaler, which ended up helping. But that also means I WAS HAVING AN ASTHMA ATTACK IN THE ER FOR 3 HOURS AND THEY DID NOTHING!

Update:
After 2 more days my chest pain and tightness still hadn’t stopped so against my better judgement I went back with a friend. It was the same staff, I even told the receptionist K how I had heard them laugh at me during my previous visit to which she replied “we don’t have time to laugh” WHILE LAUGHING. Was finally taken back, the nurses were the ONLY ones who actually listened and treated me with respect. However when Doctor S walked in and first thing asked me “SO what do you want me to do for you” i was taken aback and so confused. Most of the staff will treat you like an attention drug seeker even if you literally gave full blood panel four days ago. Then when I told Dr. S it felt like I was being treated like an drug attention seeker he started raising his voice at me, talking over me and got super defensive. I will never be coming back here again

The medication Dr. Salem prescribed me also has a FATAL interaction (major risk of SLOWED BREATHING) with one my medications and a severe/moderate interaction for another, I’ve been on both for 6 years. No excuse for that kind of oversight.

Dr. Peter Yoo should have his medical license look into by the Board. They made it very clear that their number one priority is dealing with bed space and not the actual medical condition of the patient. Their entire plan was to manufacture a patient chart where they could justify discharge against the family's strong objection. Fully insured patient too. Shame on this doctor, the ED, the social worker and the case manager.

For the record all of my experiences at this hospital to this point has been incredible. I had a call with a kaiser nurse and was directed to go to the nearest emergency room immediately for a Kidney infection. Not urgent care. ER. It wasn’t super crowded when I arrived. I checked in and the receptionist quoted a two hour wait time. It was freezing. I was wearing a hoodie and a puffer. There was a woman howling in pain you could feel and vomiting almost constantly the entire time I was there. There was a man bleeding profusely from an injury on his arm only held together by a makeshift bandage. There is a woman with a 7mo who had an allergic reaction. There were a handful of homeless people and guy stressing he can’t have visitors because adoptive parents tried to kill him. There were 2 receptionists, 3 nurses taking vitals and 3 security guards. In the first hour only one person was called. As the waiting area began to fill up, I gave my seat to a woman older than me, because that’s what you do. Given the amount of people in the space and the uptick in Covid cases, I wasn’t comfortable sitting sandwiched between two sick people so I chose a corner and sat on the floor - and eventually laid down. On the floor. Not my best moment, but pain will do that. After about an hour laying on the floor - 3 hours into the 2 hour wait time I was quoted when I arrived - the receptionist exited her cubical walked over to me - not to offer me a chair or even a wheelchair, not to ask why I’m laying on the floor or if I can stand, not to assess the man’s bleeding arm or the woman vomiting and scream for 3 hours, not to check on the mother and baby, not to offer blankets or water or updates, but she left her post to tell me I cannot be on the floor. So after 3 hours with no end in sight, no assistance or even a pinch of humanity from staff, 8 employees twiddled their thumbs as they watched me stumble out of the emergency room without so much as a “are you ok to walk. ” I’ve been a kaiser member for over 30 years, I’ve paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to should fund a program that at the very least demands humanity for the pts they pledge to serve. If this hospital cannot hire an effective ER staff or offer the community adequate emergency services, they should shut this sham down altogether.

I was directed by Kaiser online to go to nearest ER which was this location. I didn't not have to wait long to go back to a bed due to my condition, however the ER receptionist you speak with first was completely rude. If you don't like your job, choose another job please. When I got back to a bed there was a nurse helping from another department, she ran circles around my nurse who had 4 patients and couldn't seem to keep up. The nurse button to call a nurse, doesn't work; they say it does and the light goes on BUT NO ONE comes to your aide, you have to catch them walking by and then they say "oh, didn't' see it, to be honest. " which is very concerning. The dr decided to give me more than Tylenol for my pain but it took over an hour because my nurse couldn't get to me with 3 other patients (she has 4 patients to tend to) the helping nurse came around again and save the day. I then again had to ask to be finally discharged by tracking down my own nurse whose explanation was "I'm sorry i got 3 other patients besides you". I understand that I am not the only patient but nurse had ignored me for over 2 hours.when she did finally come and take my IV out and give me my discharge papers she told me to write a review that they need more nurses hired; then she gave me someone else discharge papers from the bed next to me. I get it, nurses are over worked, however there are jobs everywhere if you don't like yours find another. DO NOT take it out on the patients, we are the paying customers.
Kaiser- do better.do better by your customers and by your staff. There was plenty of people (staff) roaming the halls to either relieve the nurse or see what was going on if they were paying attention. Do better.the two stars is for the CT scan staff and the nurse that was helping out, very professional, got the job done, if they were stressing they didn't show it.

DO NOT COME HERE EVER. The homeless people get admitted and hog all of the beds so the people who are actually sick must wait 4-5 hours for a bed. You'll DIE in the waiting room before you get to a doctor. Go to Pacific Coast Highway And Normandie. You'll be done in 2 hours!

Got dropped off at 5AM by a LYFT driver for severe abdominal pain. Couldn’t stand or walk. Arrive at the check-in window and they tell me the wait time is 9 hours. No sign of urgency. Third world level facility.

Went to kaiser my first time, i had fractured my tailbone & i did get xrays.it took hours but that’s normal every emergency room you gotta wait hours, i wasn’t given anything but tylenol something you can get over the counter. I truly needed pain medication, more than tylenol
I literally had broken my tailbone
walking was excruciating pain, when they did my xrays i can berly lay through because the pain was unbearable.doctor came in my room out of no where touches my lower back with her hands and i jumped so hard
because it was painful and she just said that hurts? I felt like they regardless think you are lying or something.my point is
this emergency room and their doctors
wont help with pain medication or anything.they jusy ran xrays and said
talk to your regular physician.thats was my experience at kaiser.

I have waited for three hours after an online Kaiser ER doctor told me I need to go to ER because of potentially life threatening illness. Still no help. It’s 3: 14 in the morning.

I don’t understand how Kaiser prides their medical services as one of the best when is just not true.my mother’s insurance is almost $400 a month thinking she has excellent cover and is worth it. However that’s not the case. I am writing this review on behalf of my poor mother who’s sitting next to me at the Kaiser ER since 10: 30 pm 04/01/23 in a lot of pain with an abscess that required medical attention. Before arriving here she went to urgent care down the street approximately at 5: 30 pm on 04/01/23 From Urgent Care she was referred to The ER across the street for the simple reason Urgent Care was about to close.
It is currently 04/02/23 3: 40 Am after being here for 5 1/2 hours the prestigious $400 medical insurance has done NOTHING to help my mother’s pain. Staff has not once provided a wait time, an update, or even an apology for the wait. She has not received medical attention and as many of the other patients complaining in pain no one is being seen, no one knows what’s going on, the staff seems careless and rude It is just a sad situation not only for my mother but all the people waiting. I really wonder if something happens to these patients waiting for hours due to lack of medical attention will Kaiser be responsible?

The worst emergency room ever! The nurses are fighting and screaming instead of working. They are taking patients in and then leaving them on the hallway for hours! My mom is in so much pain and they haven’t even gave her any pain medication! Have been here for 6 hrs
