Encinitas Surf Lessons and Surfing for Empowerment

The owner was so helpful when I called. As a newbie to surfing, I got the deal on all I needed, best times, etc. Then follow up text to confirm. My instructor Daniel was so great! The best mix of support, encouragement, and challenge. Such a great experience. I'll be doing it again!

We had an excellent experience. Our group was all novices from landlocked states and with the help of our instructors we all had success and an unforgettable experience. Such a great time. Very well organized.

Jason is very organized and he arranged four days of lessons for my four year old son and me to surf with John. We had a great time and John was able to teach my son the fundamentals of surfing. By the end he was able to stand up on the board on occasion on his own. I highly recommend surfing through Encinitas Surf Lessons!

Ryan was a great instructor, very encouraging and patient while also being a great teacher and pointing out how to improve.
The owner was very helpful in providing me a last minute slot even though I had tight timelines, and kept me updated every step of the way.
A bit more expensive than the other providers but every penny worth it! 100% would recommend and sign up again for multiple lessons.

Awesome surf lessons and ask for Daniel as your instructor, he is the man (Ryan’s pretty cool too)! Loved it and would highly recommend for anyone looking to pickup surfing! Good vibes and a fun time

John was AMAZING! The best surfing instructor I had by far-calm, confident, encouraging, super clear on the “how”. He was attentive and made sure I felt safe and ready to go, kept it fun and help me tweak my skills -I caught so many waves and learned some new tips that made all the difference. In addition, he accommodated me for an early morning lesson because of my tight schedule. HIGHLY and whole heartedly recommend John!

Had a fantastic experience from booking to riding waves. Communication was great and Daniel took the time to ensure our lesson was tailored to what we wanted to get out of it. Will definitely come back next time I am in the area!

We had such a great experience learning to surf for the first time! Our instructor Ryan was very friendly, helpful, and patient. In just one lesson, we learned so much, and I was standing and surfing like an hour into the lesson! I hope to take more lessons next time I visit, and I'll be recommending Encinitas Surf Lessons to all my friends who visit.

Had a great surf lesson with John this past week. The surf was really pumping and beyond our level but John kept everybody safe and we all got our share of waves to ride! Would highly recommend!

Excellent experience with Encinitas Surf Lessons! Jason was great to work with and our instructor Daniel was terrific with our two 14 year old kids. Got them up on the board in no time and turned them into passionate surfers. Can't wait to go back!

We had our first surf lesson for our girls with Jordan. He was so patient, kind and fun with them and they stood up! I loved the experience so much that we booked a 2nd lesson where our kids had improved even more. Making the reservation was super easy and organized and Jordan showed up early to get us in the wetsuits and suited up. Can’t wait to book another lesson! Such a fun part of our trip!

We booked a last minute lesson and the office staff was great at responding quickly and getting us set up for the next day. We met our instructor Mike at the beach who already had boards and wetsuits waiting for us. Mike was RAD!

Jordan is a great instructor. We are visiting the area and Jordan did a great with my 15 year old at Beacons. Jason is very responsive and professional in setting up the lesson with the right instructor.

Mike was the surf instructor today for my almost 9 year old son and myself (40 y/o). My son is 4'10" & about 87 lbs, and I'm 6'2" barefoot and 220 - 225 lbs, and we were both beginners having never surfed before. Mike has such a kind, pleasant, and encouraging personality. I truly couldn't have asked for a better surf instructor. He helped my son to be able to stand and ride a wave at very least seven different times, which meant everything to me. Mike's instructions prior to surfing were perfect, and I wish I would have just followed them more exactly. I was able to stand up and ride the wave for a very short while 5+ times. My son was able to ride a wave standing up all the way into the beach, which was about 50 feet riding the wave standing. It was absolutely AMAZING! Unfortunately we didn't get video of that one, but there will be other times in the future.

Make sure to ask for Mike, because he has a wonderful personality, and he works so well especially with kids but also with adults. You can tell Mike is really fit, and he physically does so much to set you up perfectly for the right waves at the right times.

Mike was a fantastic instructor. He took his time to insure that I was receiving what I desired out of the lesson. He relayed a sense of calmness to my beginner nerves. I would definitely recommend him to anyone looking to try surfing.

I had always wanted to try to learn to surf, and hitting 40 this year, I thought I need to start checking off some more life events. I booked a 2 hour private lesson a few weeks in advance. The day before the instructor, Mike, texted to say he was reviewing the current conditions at a few of the nearby beaches and would find the best location for the lesson. He then sent parking info. Morning of he sent over a pin location so I would know exactly where to meet him, we meet at Cardiff beach. Mike had a great attitude and was happy and pleasant to learn from, very encouraging. We spent about 20 mins going over the basics about how to get on the board and position yourself and then got right into the water. I wasn't expecting much from just the first lesson, but I think I attempted about 30 waves, stood up on about 15 and rode a few for a good 5 seconds. It was a great feeling just to get in and try it out. Overall experience was great, will definitely book future lessons with them, and hopefully be able to get kids interested in coming years.
