Encontro North Park, San Diego CA

I went during happy hour and they were busy but it was a great experience and I will return. I did order a dessert and mini drinks but nothing real to eat off the menus so I cannot speak on that and due to them being busy the service was little slow but it is expected. If you are a fan of the show 90 day fiance then you may just look up like I did and get to see a celebrity there. Also the drinks were good and they are pet friendly where they even have menus for your fur babies.

Looks like a lovely place to eat and relax at. Sadly, I'm on the east coast but if I come to the West Coast one day, I'll stop by.

Encontro was a great time. I highly recommend going during their happy hour all the starters were $6! The elote fries are AMAZING and for $6 you can't beat that anywhere else. All their specials and different daily deals can be found online. We went on wednesday where you buy 1 bottle of wine and the second is 10cents. Keep in mind the wine ranges from $50-65 dollars but that typical for many places and the wine was delicious. For all Happy Hour they also do $6 tajin watermelon soju shots THEY ARE NOT ONLY SOJU BE CAREFUL LOL. Great food, great alcohol, and the staff was extremely pleasant!

I was there in june and asked the waitress if they aell t shirts or sweatshirts in she said no in a nasty hig pitched voice and then as she walked away said maybe but not for you Was a nasty person so we paid and left a quarter for tip. And that was way to much for her.

My friend Liz from 90 fiancé sent me here. This estiabljsbment is not good at all! Their fries are soggy and burnt! Never coming back.

The service, food, and interior were all excellent. Very nice place and quite busy but everything was efficient and delightful.

Food was great, but a little pricey. Really enjoyed the atmosphere until some guy with no neck showed up trying to stalk the poor lady manager.

We came by here thinking we could watch the end of the Padres game and enjoy some lunch. When we arrived we quickly realized there were no TVs. Oh well! The setting and food was great, the service was so-so and the prices were a what we'd expect for the food, but the lemonade and iced tea seemed a bit on the high side.

My wife shared the Patty Melt with my youngest and upgraded from the house chips to French fries ($2 add on) and they both liked the sandwich and fries. My daughter ordered the BLTA with the house chips and she liked them both. I ordered the Encontro burger and it was good, but not great - I'd say a charburger from The Habit is 1/3 the cost and tastes better. I opted for the salad instead of chips and it was just a bunch of arugula with 4 cherry tomatoes, some pickled onion and a small bit of dressing.

Overall it is a nice place to eat in North Park. But when you read Gastropub don't think it's a sports bar. The food is good, but in my opinion you are paying for the location more than the quality of the food.

Walked by Encontro without intentions of dining, walked in and enjoyed my change of mind. Kelly at the bar was amazing! I stayed extra long just because of her service. She did recommend gems on the menu and I was very happy with the food! Very rare you find all recommendations to be great but I was happily surprised. I would come back here just for the service and food. Appreciated my time there.

We selected Encontro for a birthday celebration. We ordered truffle fries, pulled pork sliders, fried chicken sliders, wild boar burger, Maine lobster roll and fish & chips. We were seated outside at a 4 top, too noisy and sidewalk traffic was nauseating! Truffle fries had no flavor, Maine lobster roll was disappointing and basic, fish & chips were very greasy and not hot. Received a chicken sandwich instead of fried chicken sliders that we ordered so that had to be redone, the rest of the food was OK. The service was very disorganized and not orderly, noone ever returned to our table after the initial drink service to order additional beers or beverages. We rate the service at a 2-3, the food 3-4, drinks 1. Our waitress stated the chef, owner, had the night off, and it reflected! We left a nice 18% tip, not to be rude, but wanted to share our experience so the owner can read this and be aware to do better. Would we return for another special occasion? Hmmm, not likely! It's sad because this is our neighborhood and we like to support local businesses. Disappointing.

The food is tasty and the beer selection is great, but this review is being written on behalf of my four legged companions. The dog menu is bow-wow-licious, with a variety of options, very reasonably priced (it would cost you more to make at home) and they pull me in the direction of Encontro on every walk. This is their "go-to" spot for lunch, brunch or dinner, the chicken and rice dish is their favorite. The wait staff is attentive to refilling their water bowl and they even offer a dessert for my two best friends. This is a 4 paw review! Woof Woof!

I ordered Farm Salad, it was ok, I added water to the salad dressing, then the cornbread croutons were actually mini cornbread muffins sliced in half, if I would have known they were cakey, sweet muffins, I would have asked to hold them.

Love the atmosphere of this place! The staff was super friendly and the beer was good but the food sadly was not. Got the burger and mussels and they were both very disappointing. Wings and fries were good but they are pretty simple: (will not be returning for eats

Came to your restaurant had a amazing time, food was great, and our server Alisha did such a great job checking on me and my wife making sure everything was okay and very polite and professional. High recommend this place.

Yeah some good menu items. Great spinach salad. My beef is with the drinks; no refills. If you choose water then the smallest cups you can imagine. Drinks are already at a huge markup at restaurants so no refills is particularly disposable. Buy a bar soda gun guys!

Weird meats, dirty gritty mussles, food poison, unoriginal menu, and the biggest 3 inch roach I've ever seen.
Better off at McDonald's.

Great place for dinner! We were two people and got three apps and it was enough for us! The corn dogs, ahi tuna tacos and pork sliders are delicious! They also have an a great drink menu with a section for sours and ciders which I was impressed with!

The grilled espera gas here tastes pretty amazing. The portamello mushroom sandwich tastes very similar to the ones in Urbane Cafe in Mira mesa. Overall, foods great. Service was good. Recommmend you check this place out
