This place was the worst mental health facility I've been to! I sign myself up for services because I know myself. I do so to better myself.
When I was a client, I was also on probation. My services there had nothing to do with any other agency, but the case manager continuously called my probation officer, trying to get me violated for showing up late or rescheduling my appointments. He would tell me all the ridiculous accusations she would make and we'd laugh together. She called my Vocational Rehab worker too, on a mission to ruin my life! The doctor was a stiff, foreign guy with no emotions. I only got to talk to my therapist twice. Most of my time there was spent with that ignorant case manager, trying to put me down.
I finally asked for my diagnosis in writing. They refused to give me anything, claiming that the information would be harmful to my mental health. WHAAAT? !
So here I am, running two business, raising six foster children, despite this place's inability to believe in me.
If you want to take control of your mental health, this is not the place!

This clinic provides poor quality staff and services with practioners who do not have a liscence. They only offer the lowest care for the poor and most in need of proper care and treatment. Saying that I do not have the money to file for lawsuits and malpractice.

I want to share my experience with Enki, the good, bad and what ultimately made me quit this place (and what you should watch out for.) Mental disorders are as common as any other physical problem, and I recognized I needed help - so I researched my options and was accepted to Enki. My experience, in the beginning, was not bad, but not great - I felt like I was diagnosing my own problem because ultimately, I didn't feel entirely different in the end, to how I started. In general, it's hard to say whether a drug is working or not without looking a brain scan.

My problem came towards the end when I was about to quit the entire program but while talking to my counselor (Nita) - we decided that it would be a good idea to start over again, with a new doctor and see if I can improve using new drugs and techniques. I agreed and was booked an appointment promptly - which I was looking forward to.

A few days before the appointment, I got a couple of calls, reminding me of my appointment date and time (which is a good sign for any medical facility.) However, when I arrived at my appointment time (around 3: 30 pm), I realized they were taking way too long. Once I asked why was it taking so long, I realized that I had been double booked (at this time I had been there for 45 minutes.) I was disappointed, but they said they were "looking into it" and said that "I would be next". I calmed down because everyone makes mistakes (I make a ton of errors) and I didn't want my time to be wasted by not going inside.

To my horror, another of the front desk admins came and said that my doctor was now talking to a new patient and they would be closing at 5 pm, so they would not be able to see me again (this was after waiting for over an hour.) What most upset me was how she told gave me the news - instead of apologizing for what happened (and treat me like an actual human being), she went off reminding me about how I had wanted to cancel and it all felt like it was my fault.

Mistakes happen, but the way they treated me that last day was despicable. They wasted my time, energy and motivation to get help - something that isn't to be taken lightly from a mental clinic. Today I got a letter to notify me about my services being canceled. I never got a phone call by Nita (the counselor) or anyone to apologize or ask to make things right by booking me a new appointment immediately.

Recovery for persons afflicted with mental disorders is rarely accomplished alone. ENKI has a solid approach to providing the patient a realistic and constructive map to a road to recovery. It is especially effective because it provides service in a patient receptive format. Creating a safe place for a person in crisis to get a realistic long term plan to recover.
Coordination of services is provided by a case-manager, psychotherapist, medication management, day wellness center and a sensitive support staff create a much needed continuity of care.
