Escape Campervans reviews
20 We rented the Lucky Lady for a week in Southern CA. This van was the ugliest and maybe the oldest on the lot. 12 years old and 300k miles. Suspension was shot and steering was not far from that. There were several times i didn't think we would make it back alive in CA traffic and mountains.
On the plus side, the staff at Escape was always courteous, responsive and helpful. The vans are well equipped and the bed was very comfortable. Escape has great specials and half the price of a car rental for tent camping.
Perfect experience! Super easy pick-up. Van was in great condition, super affordable and good on dirt roads. Return was just as easy as pickup. Highly recommended!
Camper-van was great
Service was perfect
Prices are better then anywhere else
I can not imagine how it could be better
Thank you guys for an incredible trip!
Conveniently located by the LAX airport we were able to pick up our van early and got a head start to Yosemite National Park where we spent 3 nights and there is nothing better than having your own transportation and lodging right here. After the stay at Yosemite we decided to extend our camping trip and headed over to the Pacific Coast Highway to knock off another item on our bucket list. We were having such an amazing time that the miles didn't matter. Looking forward to renting another van next year. Thank you Escape camper vans for an unforgettable vacation.
Our trip went great. We only had a few minor hiccups which resolved themselves within time. Nothing for which we needed to contact Escape Campervans for. Thank you for your van. We LOVED our trip. Also, we rented the santa cruz model. We received complements every stop we made. Even from other Escapees who rented bigger models.
Thanks!
We took a van from LA to Yosemite and down the California coast, about 1300 miles. We had an awesome time. We went with a cargo van so we could park anywhere and go through drive through, etc. The van has plenty of space, and is more than adequate as a kitchen/bedroom on wheels. We ended up renting hotel rooms a couple nights to shower, since roadside motels and rv sites are priced almost the same, but if you bought a solar shower and maybe a bucket toilet you could have a full setup. The cost of the entire rental was very reasonable. As far as negatives, the van we rented needs some maintance. The steering was loose and it took time getting used driving especially at higher speeds. Dont cheap out on the mechanicals guys. Get the vans working in tip top shape! The kitchen needs a couple more latches and locking drawers and a table between the front driver and passenger seats would be fantastic. There are couple low cost details that would go a long way to improve these campers. We loved the van, and we are almost surely renting one again.
Good service on both locations and the Van was just great. We camped on dispersed campgrounds (download the great App 'iOverlander') and the Maverick had all onboard what we needed. We will do it again.
Had a decent first couple days. Then driving through the mountains the steering started acting erratically. Called roadside assistance and they said I needed to wait for a tow, sit in the shop and wait for a diagnosis to see if they would replace the van instead of just taking care of it. Now I’m sitting on the side of the road waiting for them to call back.
Meh. The van was 10 years old and kinda dingy. The kitchen was minimal. It was really hard to figure out the bed, even though we watched the tutorial 3 times. The bed was really uncomfortable and not good for two people. The engine was weak and wouldn't go above 65 mph. Also, the woman checking us out wasn't very friendly. I would only rent again from them if I weren't driving very far, and if it were much cheaper.
All I can say is this company made renting a van to drive across the country so easy. They were great at answering all my questions and the roadside assistance including relieved some worry. The vans acre fun and reliable and when you see another pass you can’t help but feel some sense of kinship. Will definitely be renting from escape again.
Loved out trip! Having this camper-van made our trip so much easier than old school camping with a tent, specially during the late fall. We rented he Maverick and it was great for space, handling & amenities. It was a bit "loved", but I believe it's their oldest model, so we weren't too shocked there. If you have a mattress topper you can put on the bed that will help a lot! We had one and slept like a dream! Also have a little funnel helps with filling up the water tank. A LOT!
These vans are extremely reliable as this is the second time we have traveled many miles to experience many adventures. They are comfortable and easy to handle. Enjoy!
We rented a van (Mavericks) for 3 weeks! Everything went well!
One of the front lights burned out, after contacting the company they offered us a solution that worked for us (Get the bulb replaced and send the receipt to get a refund).
Our experience was great. We had enough space to store all our items and the bed was comfortable. Pick up and drop off was easy as well. Would surely recommend it to others. We got a lot of compliments on our 'Flower Girl' paint job.
Our trip with the Maverick was awesome! Everything we needed, really practical van. Excellent service too!
My experience with Escape Campervans was really nice. Placing my reservation and my pick-up process went smoothly. I was surprised at how easy everything was! What attracted me to Escape Campervans were the colorful paintings and designs on the vans. I was initially assigned a van named Bayou. Although very artistic and interesting, it didn't really appeal to me so the representative allowed me to choose another one name Squiggles. The van itself was very colorful but had a few dings and, as the rep stated, Squiggles has had a rough life. The van ran reasonably well, all things considered. I luckily reserved during the time where the kitchen kit, electrical kit, and chairs were being offered for free-WHAT A DEAL! Overall, it was a pleasant experience and I will re-visit for sure. My only suggestion: having 1-2 vans for customers to choose from would be a great option and would add to the awesomeness of Escape Campervans!
First time in a Camper Van and I loved it. The Escape team is amazing, great service, fun staff. Will rent again!
Our experience with Escape Campervans was absolutely perfect! The attention given to us was outstanding even since before we rented the van. They answered all of our questions fast and with very nice ways. We went on a road trip with my boyfriend and rented the Santa Cruz van, it is very beautiful and comfortable as well as very well equipped. Everything you need is there; confortable bed, fridge, sink, just everything. We are from Argentina and had to approve the payment when we picked it up, the employee waited for us 45 minutes till our bank send the authorization! And he made us fill that even it was happy to hang out with us. We made 3800 miles in 28 days and we didn’t have a single problem. Vans are in very good shape and beautifully painted by local artist with really cool designs. ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT!
We had an amazing road trip with the Mavericks van!
The van was set up with everything we needed, and the service was great. Highly recommended
Had to cancel the reservation. Charged me for full price including $210 for mileage I didn’t use. This is a company I had rented from twice before and had a cop pull me over in Oregon for driving to slow. The van had 300k miles on it and the shocks and alignment were shot. Couldn’t take the van over 55 without it fishtailing.
