Escape Oakland reviews
15It was my 3rd time coming over and I had such a fun time! The staff is super helpful and the puzzles are such a blast
Super fun experience. We did this as a team building activity and it was a blast. I would recommend no more than 6 people because then it get crowded but other than that, 10/10. Would highly recommend.
Had a great time working together with my husband and teens to use the clues, solve the puzzles, and get out of the rooms. Definitely recommend it!
Upon first entering, I was a little skeptical, 1) because of the location in downtown, 2) the oddly undecorated waiting room, and 3) I wasn't sure I was going to like escape rooms in general. But I actually had a really fun time, and the room was very cool and on-theme, and there were a lot of creative clues. I really liked being able to ask for hints because damn some of those puzzles made me feel dumb haha. It was not easy, and I liked that. I would definitely recommend giving this place a try, we had an awesome time.
This was the first time we worked on an escape room as a family and we had such a great time. The room allowed for us to work on separate puzzles at the same time, which was great for my 10-year old who is good at chess and logic problems, but not great at codes. My 17 year old was engaged the whole time, which is hard for a teenager. And there are great restaurants in the area when you are done!
Terrible, terrible, terrible! We played The Bunker, and although the storyline was good and the puzzles were challenging, there was ONE attendant running multiple games at the same time. Anytime we needed a hint, we had to signal many, many times over many minutes to get any help. Of course that resulted in us not being able to finish in time. What's the point of offering unlimited clues if you end up waiting ten minutes for a clue? !
I have done multiple escape rooms throughout the United states and this one was my least favorite. We have even gone to the franchise in Orlando and had a much better experience. We played The Bunker, at this escape business. The storyline was good and the puzzles challenging which was great. We asked for clues but it took the person running the room over 5 minutes each time to gives us our hints. This in turn decreased our ability to move forward quickly enough. I wouldn't have minded losing if the attendant hadn't wasted at minimum 10 minutes of our 60 minutes waiting for their hints. It appeared there was only one person running all the rooms which most likely affected their ability to keep up with giving the rooms their hints. Generally I have seen no less than 3 staff members running a facility at other escape rooms. This allowed for one to check people in, one to clean up rooms and possibly one to do hints. Most likely the 2 staff cleaning and providing hints would share those responsibilities. Only one staff member doing all those tasks is impossible. I also saw paint cans in the check-in area and unfinished areas which also decreased our first impressions.
Really a great place had so much fun. Very nice people and not outrageously expensive as many other places are.
Escape Oakland is great! The puzzles are fair and solvable. The staff is attentive and knows just what clues to give when you need it. We did 1 room with just 2 people, which was okay, but did another room recently with 4. I think 4 people is probably more ideal. We’ve done 2 rooms so far and will certainly be back to do the other 2.
What a fun experience and the staff was exceptionally helpful and friendly! I can’t wait to go back to try another room!
Room was challenging and fun. I have been to a few escape rooms and this one definitely required me to use my brain a little more differently. Tyler was super helpful & had great energy. Will be back.
Loved the Escape Room. We all had such a good time on my birthday and the staff were all kind and fun and helpful. We will definitely be back to see if we can do better next time. A big 5 stars from all of us.
First time doing this! Had a great time with my co workers! Definitely will be coming back again.
So fun, clever, immersive! The puzzles are challenging and satisfying to complete but not so difficult they feel impossible. I 100% recommend Escape Oakland!
Fun time. I've done a lot of escape rooms and the staff here is super friendly. We did the Society room (easier room) just 4 adults and 1 teenager for her birthday and she had a blast! The props and decor were super fun and lively! The staff will offer you hints if you need them and want them. They have a total of 4 rooms so we will definitely come back again!
