I've been working with Tara on scalp treatments for the past several months and I cannot recommend her more highly! It's been a game changer as far as my hair health. The Estrella Collective is a warm, intimate and fun environment, with legit good music and conversation. The Buti yoga is divine and Alix is a pro at microblading. What more could you want? A definite Santa Cruz gem.

I had the pleasure of starting my day on the deck at The Trout Farm Inn with Tara in a deeply moving yoga experience. It ended with a beautiful crystal singing bowl bath by the beautiful Goddess Jazz.
Although I've been exposed to yoga, this was my 1st yoga only class. I was a little nervous as the class filled. As soon as Tara started speaking, my nervousness vanished. The collective positive energy and space worked wonders. Stress melted away.
Tara, you are a Goddess and extraordinary yoga emissary. My 1st class WILL NOT be my last.
See you Sunday.

I love coming to this amazing women owned studio for my yoga and beauty needs. Tara is an awesome hairstylist and my color and cut has never looked better. Alix did a wonderful job micro blading my brows and I’ve gotten so many compliments on how natural they look. I love attending the Buti classes weekly the most. All of the teachers are compassionate, challenging and supportive of everyone’s skill level. Highly recommend giving this awesome small business your patronage.

I don't know how it's possible for Tara to always exceed my expectations, but she does. This last year she has given me the best haircuts of my life. She clearly takes the time to understand what she's working with and what the client wants. She also puts a level of care and attention to detail into her work that i really appreciate as well as how kind she is. You absolutely could not pry my from this salon ️

On top of that, the products she sells are top notch and i have yet to be disappointed in anything i buy there for the price.

P.s. I'm loving this cut more with each day! It's so healthy and works with my natural hair texture and doesn't even require much to get it curled, just scrunch with some product while damp and let it air dry! Absolutely great work on Tara's part

Amy transformed my hair! Absolutely recommend getting a cut from her and checking out Estrella Collective. Amy was super professional and so sweet! She took the time to get to know my hair and did an amazing job. I love how they have natural products available that can be refilled! ️

Absolutely amazing service! My boyfriend and I went here recently, and she did an amazing job on both of us! I haven't had a cut in 3 years because it usually scares me a little, but she worked out a plan of action with me, and just really went above and beyond! Not only did she give great results, but she was so nice. I will absolutely be back!

This place is a true gem in Santa Cruz-super professional and great energy all around. Tara gave me an awesome overall first experience at Estrella Collective. I left not only with a stylish cut, but also feeling relaxed and refreshed. I will definitely be back for the Wu-Tang yoga! Thanks Tara

As I write this, I’m sitting in my car in the afterglow of Buti yoga. Sticky with dried sweat but completely relaxed and feeling amazing. I’ve never even come close to describing myself or my workout routine as “a yogi, pilates or yoga”. Personally I’ve always thought that I didn’t have the body type, flexibility, or even elegance to pull off a 60 minute class or even a quarter of the pretzel-like twists of some poses. I would give it a go here and there but always felt out of place or self conscious, weight lifting and basic cardio was my wheelhouse.

During covid I found myself super frustrated and restless. I came across Estrella Collective a few times and noticed that they were offering online classes and a special offer for people that wanted to continue or try out yoga at home, this sounded safe to me. After a few classes of buti I could not tell you have many differences I noticed in my life and in my body. The fact that I was actually paying attention to my body was a huge accomplishment alone. I noticed my mood change immediately, my constant back pain that I've had on again, off again, since I injured it a few years back vanished, and I felt myself feel more confident in my body and what it could do if I was patient.

I realize that this review is already long winded so i’ll try to make it brief although I could go on and on, especially about the instructors. I'll try not to sound like I have girl crushes on each of them (which I do), but what an incredible group of women. I’ve never felt so welcomed, accepted, not pushed or judged. There’s times I fall down laughing.there’s times where the instructor falls down laughing. We curse, we sweat, we laugh, we share, and sometimes, we even cry and it's ok. This is much more to me than just a workout, this is a space where I can be emotional and honest without having to constantly portray myself as tough which a lot of females these days do because of the world we live in. I've always shied away from being "girly" or "feminine" because of the negative connotation that sometimes that adjective can have (I hate that I allow it to affect me).

I’m so glad that the silver lining to covid is that I was given the chance and the time to try out Estrella Collectives and it's community of incredible human beings. So I'll end it with this, if you’re thinking about taking a buti class at Estrella Collectives, do it. I promise you won’t leave without a smile on your face.

If you’re looking for an alternate yoga scene in Santa Cruz, this is your place! Where you can let go and be your own funky, creative, caring self. Where yoga includes dance parties and cheers. Can’t think of another studio in this area who plays hip hop and dance music on the reg. Also, get your hair did!

I have been getting my hair done by Tara for years and she just gets it. She is a fierce and fabulous lady boss. I am so excited for her new salon and studio. It feels creative, welcoming and badass. Not to mention, the location is so ideal for me. Couldn't recommend this place enough!

Tara Murphy is really good at what she does, and her skills go far beyond making tresses shine. A session in her chair is like a session with a wellness guide, and her new place-with its relaxed, hip, good-vibe atmosphere-supports her efforts to make us feel beautiful and healthy, inside and out. She's been doing my hair since I moved to Santa Cruz (prior to that, I cut my own hair), and I wouldn't go anywhere else.

The location of the new shop is convenient. It's close to downtown, just off the main drag. So, it feels more relaxing than being right on Pacific, and yet the coffeeshops, etc, are nearby. I like to make a few hours of it: get my hair cut and then treat myself to a coffee or maybe a browsing session at the bookstore. It makes for a nice afternoon or morning.

At some point, I hope to try out the collective's yoga classes. It seems like it would be a supportive environment for a newbie to the practice.

What to say about this amazing new hot spot in Santa Cruz. Owner Tara has really planted a gem and a much needed upgrade to the downtown Santa Cruz yoga and beauty scene. The Wednesday Wu Yoga was exactly what my hump day needed. Listening to legendary music mixed with dynamic, inclusive yoga set my mood to the highest possible spectrum! Every person in class had a smile on their face, grooving to beat while still focusing on their yoga practice. I can't wait to try more classes. She really truly nailed the synergy of inner and outer beauty.

This will now be my weekly ritual!
