Fern Dell Nature Trail reviews
18I use the area for a peaceful walk n place to do my isometric exercises. I encourage all to venture.amazing quiet morning pleasure.
It's my favorite place to go hiking to. Start from Fern Dell and make it all the way up to Tom LaBonge's panorama viewpoint. Lots of wildlife on the way. The plant and trees are amazing at Fern Dell. I usually go to photograph the wildlife.
Kind of a hidden gem of an otherwise very busy park in Los Angeles.
There's some good shade to be had here, some really lovely picnic tables, and it's a great place to take my dog on a little jaunt.
The trail ultimately runs all the way up to the observatory if you're looking to make a journey out of it, but it transitions from being a quaint little pocket of LA to a shade-free dusty trail up a hill. Both have their value, and it's nice to have a choice.
I usually just come here to sit and read in the grass under a big tree, or eat a sandwich with some buds, but there's a little bit here for everyone.
Awsome place to go for a walk or to take some pictures for weddings quinceanera or anything really relaxing is a must go
Lovely quiet paths in a wooded area with a stream. Many benches and small bridges. Lots of photo ops.
Restrooms at the end of the trail at the park. Coyotes are still awake in the middle of the day so have to keep your small dogs on leashes. Park at the end of the trail has good shade coverage and lots of benches. All dirt and gets packed quickly!
It is a very beautiful place, to walk to exercise you can see deer, rabbits, coyotes, reptiles, birds and you can breathe fresh air full of oxygen but carry water.
I love Fern Dell. I hike from this point all the way to the Hollywood sign or the captain roost view. It’s clean, safe, and no parking fees.
Such a beautiful trail! Felt safe seeing families cooking out on the grills, playing on the play ground, and walking up and down the trail. Saw one homeless man walking around but he didn’t bother anyone. Kept tidy and nice!
Fern dell nature trail is near the Griffith observatory. It's kind of hidden spot. But unlike the usual trail to Griffith I would consider this trail easy or short then the others. It goes through beautiful garden area, you would find turtles in the pond and right towards the end of fern dell trail the hike continues towards the Griffith observatory that's almost 0.6 miles or 0.8. You can easily find parking spots here outside the entrance area of the fern dell trail. There is playground area and picnic tables for family to spend time together.
Hidden secret: best free parking at the base of Griffith Park. Hike up to the Observatory. Great workout

Awesome little section of Griffith park. It feels like you're in a section of the Redwoods up in Northern california.
It's a great trail. My son loves it because there is a playground that he can go to after the hike.
Jewel in the middle of Los Angeles. Great place for family and friends to gather. Quite clean. It has an area organized for outdoor gathering where people can have their own barbecue or grill.
The place its good if you want to walk around trees and have a peaceful walk you can see deers some coyotes and some linxs if you get lucky spiders eagles and some rocks left by ancient civilizations
PRO: Beautiful and lots of turtles and crawdads
Greenery everywhere - like a rainforest
CONS: At least today June 4- MUD, at least 30% of the pathway was gooey, thick mud!
Maybe the city could lay down some plywood at least? !
Restrooms only by the Trails Cafe
Total trail is. 5 mile so 1M both ways-
Love this park the Disney land trail is fun but smells like sewage. Bring a knife for the coyotes at night
