Filippi's Pizza Grotto Little Italy, San Diego CA

Filippi's has always been our go to Italian restaurant when we're in San Diego. I had the meatball sandwich and my wife had the veal cutlet parmesan. Bring a big appetite because the servings large. The service was very friendly and attentive. We hadn't been to the downtown Filippi's in a couple of years, but in addition to the indoor seating they've also set up dining under tents outside. We ate outside and it was perfectly fine. Hope you decide to go and try it out.

Meatballs were great! Rest of food was decent, Service was poor. Seemed like since gratuity was automatically included on bill, our server did not feel the need to provide customer service. Our dirty plates piled on our table and he came only once, when we were done eating, to ask if we were ok. My husband had to get up to go ask him about our garlic bread order as we were almost done with our meal.

The worst customer service I ever have seen I went there on Sunday night to buy pizza then we decide to eat there the cashier lady said go tell the waiters and and they’ll bring your pizza I went to set on the table the waiters said we can’t do that you have to bring your pizza and set here I said ok I went brought my pizza and set down then after a minute a waiter stop by I thought he’s going to ask if we need anything to drink then he goes you can’t set here because you ordered your pizza to go it wasn’t even closing time and the tables were almost empty so I just toke my pizza and left they didn’t even give me a napkin. Don’t recommend this place

Wow. WOW! Couldn’t have picked a better spot for our one evening in San Diego. We new the portions would be big but they were huge. Spaghetti was delicious. Pizza was even better. Best Italian food we’ve ever had. Absolute perfection. The hostess was very kind and accommodating when I bugged her and asked if we could switch tables. The waitress was amazing. Very kind and gave us some suggestions. Amazing place. Will definitely be back again!

It was an awesome place. Delicious food and great atmosphere. My favorite dish was lasagna with meat sauce. This Filippi's Pizza Grotto Little Italy offers excellent service. This allow you to relax with friends during your night out. Don't miss out on this resturent.

We ordered the vegetarian special pizza with thick crust, and when they say thick crust they mean it! Pizza was so yummy and delivery was quick too.

Great place. And the food is wonderful comfort food. The addition of the outdoor seating has been amazing during COVID. Highly recommended when your in San Diego. The original Filippis taste better then the rest! The secret is that it has parking in the back lot. My favorite is the pizza special. Hint you can share one with 3 people! It’s amazing and a mouthful

Delicious & unpretentious Italian food. One of my favorite restaurants in Little Italy.

I wasn't even craving Italian but had to stop when I walked by. The lasagna was everything that I asked for and then some. The plate was covered in sauce and very filling. I would highly recommend.

Soo so good! The server here was a really nice and wonderful lady. The marinara here was delicious I could eat a bowl of it. Definitely recommend the pizza it was so good. The meatballs with sauce are also amazing! It is a nice Italian restaurant.

The food is good but nothing amazing to be honest. Pizza is just like others and ravioli are good but not amazing.

Good Italian place.tasty and yummy. Had their Shrimp Pasta Alfredo with melted cheese sauce. I have yet to try the one cooked in wine sauce.

Do not be fooled by this being a chain restaurant. It's a chain of family owned restaurants not a franchise and that shows in the food.

The sauce is just grandma used to make. It's chunky and delicious. Portions are huge. That meatball is the size of a baseball. The proportion of cheese to pasta to sauce in that lasagna was perfect.

Come hungry and plan on bringing home a box or three of leftovers.

Nice place to sit down and enjoy an Italian pizza.
We tried the pepperoni and mushrooms and it was really good. If I ever come back to little Italy in San Diego, I'll definitely go here.

Nicht sonderlich italienisch aber eine gute Interpretation einer Pizza. Sehr dicker Boden… sehr freundlicher Staff und besonders innen tolles Ambiente.
