First & Oak, Solvang CA

Sensational experience. My girlfriend and I celebrated our 4-year anniversary here with a 5 course meal.

I should start by saying- the ambiance was incredibly warming. Very friendly staff, the structure was tasteful, with a beautiful herringbone patterned flooring to welcome visitors, greeted by a warm staff member at the reception desk centered in the room. High ceilings and a beautiful crystal chandelier complemented the foyer, paired with the era-inspired french timey posters, we love the place before we were sat.

Speaking of, this visit, having been our first time in Solvang, we arrived a solid 45 minutes early, believing the walk may have been further. Our host sat us on an indoor front bench and promptly warmed us with a fine glass of bubbles while we took in our surroundings.

Shortly after, we were sat at a lovely two top bordering the beautiful windows looking out onto the dimly lit and lonely main street. It was lovely. Following our drinks came an exquisitve five-course meal. We ordered opposites to enjoy all, however, if I were to do over, I would have stuck to my roots and had the carnivore courses, not to speak ill of the halibut, which was perfectly seared with a great tableside caraf of jus, but the braised short rib was divine. Having a culinary background, now non-existent as I have since, turned sails and work in healthcare, my knees were truly keeled with two things mainly, the affinity and embrace the chef/chef de cuisine had with truffles and their appropriate (not overwhelming) use, and the non-existent fear of salt, we were entirely thrilled, filled and satisfied with the meal, wine pairings offered, and plating of each dish. Thank you First & Oak, we highly recommend this establishment. Complements to the chef, staff, owner, and our server, who took hia time gracefully to navigate us through our experience.

It's overrated. We had new year's eve dinner, for almost $200 per person it's not worth it.

Enjoyed the early part of new years eve at first & oak. The food is fantastic and the staff was pleasant and very accommodating of my party with strolls. Though I do not recommend bringing very young children.

This rationing for BAD customer service. We came there, asked for a table for two. Saw 6 tables empty, they said it’s was reserved, but we left booking table for 2 hrs later because this was the only available time. We couldn’t wait that long because we were hungry, and we found another place.
We called back 6 times to cancel our reservation. Guess what? No one replied…
Now I can see why 5 tables standing empty and they are not seating us. Simply - no answering their phone.

Customer Servise is separate with food. No one care about people. Really tried to make it work, they didn’t let us. Hope customer service will improve soon

In a beautiful boutique hotel Just off the main streets of Solvang. A wonderful experience.

Very reasonable priced 5 course meal. We had an excellent time celebrating our babymoon! Would definitely come back again!

We had a very nice quiet dinner here. We were looking for a dinner dining place in Solvang, and this didn't disappoint. It's in a quaint hotel. You can sit inside or out. The bread looked delicious, but we didn't want to fill up. I loved my scallops, and my friend loved her halibut. The side of potatoes and the cream were amazing. Don't forget to get he dessert as well. I'd love to come back here for sure.

Salads and sauces were amazing, but unfortunately, duck breast and kurobata pork were overcooked and dry.

The food was just excellent. It's a little pricey but worth it. The service was amazing. The place was homey.

We had the five course tasting menu. The key word is tasting as the serving size is tiny for items such as the tuna credo which was really an amuse bouche (one bite) because that is exactly what you get and the one scallop you get on the next course even though the menu says scallops, you get one. The truffle roasted califlower was the best part of the meal, it was absolutely delicious. I would go back just for that. The beef tenderloin was cooked perfectly and the mushrooms were wonderful. The only thing I did not like was the 4% "kitchen fee" they added to our bill without prior notification. I own my own business and I pay for my expenses without asking for money from others. If the restaurant can't make enough to cover their costs then they should increase their food prices not put a charge on everyone's bill that they did not expect or approve of. It's not the amount but the principle. I believe the cost for the 5 course tasting menu was $85 per person without wine. The staff are excellent and very friendly, the atmosphere was great.

A restaurant I didn't go to because of the unexpected location and atmosphere (outdoor tables). The best food I've had in Solvang or the best I've ever had in my life. I gave it a try once because of the price, but I have no regrets.the best
