Folktale Winery & Vineyards reviews
20Make a reservation! You’ll be happy you did! We made the mistake of not getting one and we weren’t able to get a table. We went back a week later and it was AMAZING! The sweet heat pizza was to die for and the wine was amazing I recommend the flight for $40! You get to try 6 different wines and you get some $$ off if you buy a bottle! We spent around $100 on the flight and 2 pizzas. Not bad considering the amazing views.
While we enjoyed the wine and the food (we bought a bottle, charcuterie board and a pizza.delicious), we found the atmosphere a little odd. The live music was good, but it definitely did not suit a sunny Saturday afternoon out at a winery, the only way I could think to describe it was somber. While I am glad we went an experienced a new place I don't think we'll hurry back.
We just happen by this place and it is absolutely amazing. The Wine Garden, the atmosphere and the staff are top notch. The wine is excellent. The food is excellent. Definitely stop in if you’re in the area.
Gorgeous winery, disappointed with pricing strategy. Ordered a charcuterie board and asked for more than the 6 crackers provided only to be hit with a $5 charge for extra crackers (insane markup!) May sound trivial, but when you’re spending hundreds and are price gouged for cheap things like that it feels stingy and inhospitable.
We had a great lunch and wine flight. Nick our server made our experience extremely enjoyable. Thank you Nick we hope to come back soon!
Amazing Winery. Beautiful scenery, awesome service, fantastic wine. My wife LOVED the Sparkling Rose, said it was her new favorite wine. I very much enjoyed the Sangiovese. Pedro took care of us, awesome guy and really great service. Would highly recommend this place.
We drank a 2021 Le Mistral Grenache & it was very good with meatballs and salad. There was live music & lots of families enjoying the beautiful day. We had a wonderful time taking in all the festivities!
What a lovely winery. We stopped by without a reservation, they were able to accommodate us, great service, food $ wine.
Friendly staff, good food. We did a wine flight and sat on the outdoor patio which has a nice view of the surrounding hills. Very pleasant place to spend the day!
I usually don't write bad reviews but in this case I hope the owner will read this. I have been a member here for years and yesterday I canceled my membership! I took my family here Monday April 10th 2023. We arrived at 12 folktail opens at 1130, upon arrival they told us we needed to have a reservation to even enter or leave my name and come back at 130 due to them not having enought "educators" it was my mom's birthday so I put our name in said we would be back. When we arrived they took a good 15 minutes to get our order. The server did not describe the wine he poured for us at all! After receiving our first 2 glasses to taste I had to get up to ask our server for our other glasses due to waiting another 15 minutes for our refill for our tasting. I believe it is under new ownership definitely. We experience the worst service! I have been a server for 14 years and I couldn't believe how down hill this place has gotten. I had to get up 4 times to ask our server for service and for our bill at the end. It is a beautiful scenery but I don't believe any of us will be going back unless they find some good knowledgeable service like it used to be for years! Also if reservations are necessary Please make that clear on your website!
Ok experience. Perks: the grounds are really pretty and they have good food. Cons: service was bad & slow, wine was ok but overpriced
Overall probably won’t be back here and would recommend stopping at the other many wineries. This place felt a little overrated.
I have been here multiple times, I like their bubbles. Each consecutive time I have visited, I've been made to feel like I'm an inconvenience to them. Food is not great, I've ordered pizzas here and a frozen pizza is better than theirs. Ambiance is very nice but staff is rude, snobby to a certain degree. I have tried their other wines and they are very sugary. Go somewhere else where they are friendlier like Georis, or Seabold.
I went there with clients in 2018 for a lunch amidst the grapevines. Fantastic atmosphere and food, they set up the table perfectly and we even got to help with a part of the harvest. The location itself feels very vast, close to nature and is beautifully decorated.
The staff was very attentive and considered all our wishes and preferences. Would love to go back!
I became a member of this winery when they started six years ago. Everything has continually improved including food and wine. They allow for families to bring their children which makes it extra special. The fire pits and heat lamps will keep you warm during winter days and evenings. The food is excellent. Pizza and grilled octopus cannot be missed. Santa Lucia highlands Pinot reserve is one of the best wines served as part of the red wine selection. On a hot summer day the white witch is the way to go or their Albarino wine.
This is an amazing place located in. Carmel Valley. The ambiance takes you away just like a ferry tale. The concert and comedy series are amazing and personal.
The only reason for 4 star is that the food selections has gone down since the last chef departed and in particular the concerts and comedy series menu offerings are particularly bad and over priced!
Five stars for the food. We had the four cheese pizza, meatballs, ceviche, and Persian cucumber salad. Everything was delicious. The pesto on the pizza was superb, the meatballs were tender with an excellent red sauce, and the ceviche was on point.
The wine was alright, nothing to write home about. We enjoyed two flights, but did not get an additional glass.
First time here. It was three of us. We Folktale Winery & Vineyards and it was pretty good. Food portions were decent. Folktale Winery & Vineyards but there are people tending to you while you eat and they were awesome.
A wine tasting experience where it took 40 minutes from when we were seated at our table to when we saw any wine. (25 minutes before anyone introduced themselves to take our order, 15 more for wine to arrive). And once it arrived, the sparkling wine was served flat. 90 minutes later we flagged someone down so we could pay and leave, we otherwise never saw anyone. Two stars because the quattro formaggi pizza was pretty good. Will not ever return.
It has a lovely atmosphere for outdoor dining and drinking, and they were taking all the necessary measures for COVID (scan QR code for menu, servers wearing masks). They didn’t have the cheese board when we went, but the meatballs, ceviche and truffle fries was pretty good.
We made a reservation for noon on the weekend, and there was already a line of people waiting to get in before they opened, so I definitely recommend getting a reservation beforehand.
Incredible wines and delicious pizza. Friendly staff willing to help out with additional recommendations around Carmel valley.
We did the wine and food pairing and had a great time. I would never have picked some of the pairings that they did so the different nuances that each food brought out in the wines was amazing! Will definitely come back.
