Fon Jon Pet Care Center

Recently spent time in San Diego for some much needed vacation days. Since we had our 16 month old Leonberger along, were looking for a trusted place as day care so we could visit the SD Zoo and Wild Animal park etc. Not being neutered yet, we needed a 1: 1 place.
The staff (i.e. Including Anthony and Bailey, but also the animal care staff) were absolutely great to deal with, took great care of everything.
Well kept & run facility, in close proximity to Mission Bay area and routes you'd take when going sightseeing etc. / Costco just around the corner.
Thank you to all the staff for everything, this made our visit so much more enjoyable - really very much appreciated.

We did 4 weeks training with Rick, the results we saw in our crazy dog were amazing. Rick is a great trainer and expert, I couldn't recommend him more.

Recently started bringing our two pups here and are satisfied in every way. Prices are reasonable and the staff is always pleasant and accommodating. The dogs come home happy and tired. What more can you ask for? Highly recommend for all dog care needs.

If I could give 0 stars I would. I do not recommend Fon Jon Pet Care and for sure will not be using them again. My dog Bandit was very sick when I picked him up and required multiple visits to the vet to get him healthy. His treatment totaled over $1000 and Fon Jon showed no remorse in the condition they handed him over in and claimed he was fine and that there were no signs of anything being wrong with him. However, he went from 73 - 65 pounds in his 10 days with them and I was truly concerned if he was going to recover. Everything he ate either went straight through him in a matter of minutes or he threw it up. He could't hold any food down and literally did not move for multiple days afterward. He had absolutely no appetite and I struggled to get him to eat or drink anything. Like I said, despite the staff claiming he showed no signs of sickness, I communicated his condition back to them and they showed no remorse or willingness to help compensate for the condition they left him in. Honestly despicable for them to have let my dog get this sick and act as if everything was fine.

I will never take my dog back there again! I boarded my dog there and when I picked him up he was overheated and panting heavily? !
I asked what happened and they said they didn't know, I told them can you please check your cameras. I went back the next day to find out what happened, they said everything looked normal. I said I'm sorry something happened his body was so hot he's a husky and needs water and shade.if you look it up on the internet overheating can cause organs failure and death.
* I did find a pet hotel in mission valley that I will be using that keeps dogs & cats indoors air conditioned.

I moved to San Diego 1 year ago and have been working with Fon Jon since then everytime we need to board my two dogs. I have two boxer mixes, about 70lbs each that are high energy. One is dog and human friendly, while the other requires a proper introduction in order to get along with humans and dogs. I am always apprehensive when I bring them to a new boarding place/daycare, but both of them have had no issues staying at Fon Jon to my knowledge and always come home bright, alert and responsive. That said, here's my additional feedback.

Pros:
- Several boarding/daycare options (I like that there was the option to board with other dogs or separately and on top of separately they can board together or alone)
- Average cost for a boarding facility like this
- Plenty of staff always available, I often see the same faces working with my dogs and it seems like they look forward to seeing those faces when we pull up in the parking lot
- Free day of day care when you first sign up in lieu of a meet and greet style test

Cons:
- Big con overall is anything to do with paperwork. You might think it is 2002 not 2022 lol. There are no online forms integrated into the website to schedule a stay. Instead they email a document to be submitted each stay. DO NOT submit this in person ahead of time, because it will go into a folder and get lost by the time you're about to go out of town and come for drop off
- Along similar lines, there is no option to upload vaccine records to a portal or create an account/pet profile. Again email it, don't bring a hard copy, because it'll get lost
- No live video feeds and you don't get any photos

If you care about the cons (I can understand, because they are really REALLY ANNOYING), skip this place.

However, for the past year I have continued to use Fon Jon because they are reliable, you know what to expect working with them, and it seems like the staff can handle my dogs well-ultimately those things are more important to me.

I have been using Fonjon for over 20 years for my dogs. The staff is caring, kind and professional and my dogs have always had excellent care there. This is of utmost importance to me. My dog is actually happy to stay there. Wonderful place.

We have never boarded our dog Nala before and were worried about how she would do. We were really happy that she would have her own generous size room with outside access and private play time with staff. The staff in the front couldn’t have been more friendly and put all our concerns about boarding Nala to rest. They really do care about the animals in their care. We have also used their dog training and their advice has been invaluable! Highly recommend.

Fon Jon is THE BEST Dog day care. Their prices are very reasonable, staff is AMAZING, and we even drive all the way from Chula Vista to board and daycare our dog. Our dog has been shunned by two other dog centers because they didn't know how to handle him. We have had ZERO complaints from Fon Jon and have been going there for the past 3 years. Our dog is always super happy after leaving and we only wish they were closer!

Our dog has been going to Fon Jon since Feb. He’s there everyday and is always well taken care of. They are flexible with boarding arrangements, baths and always responsive via email.

Fon Jon Pet Care is the BEST! We stared weekly day care to test the waters for future boarding later this year. Getting our dog into their system and set up was a breeze. Our pup loves day care so much that we have peace for our future boarding. You can tell that the staff genuinely care for the dogs and overall experience.

I've been taking my pup to Fon Jon for just over a year now for both doggy daycare and extended boarding when I need to leave town for work. The staff is wonderful and my dog always comes home exhausted from playing all day. I can leave town without worrying knowing my dog is in the best care at Fon Jon.

Have been taking my dog here since a coworker recommended this play. Staff is always very friendly and my dog seems to love his stay. I like that my dog get's to go on a nature hike every day and when I pick him up he is always in a great mood.

These guys are the BEST pet care and boarding facility in San Diego!

I don't trust my fur babies with anybody else. I found Fon Jon last September after rescuing my 2 year old, 100 pound American Bulldog, Bruce. I also have a 60 pound American Staffordshire Terrier named Pepper, and they both LOVE Fon Jon Pet Care Center.

Their pricing is fair, and they always do such a good job and take such good care of my dogs. They always come home smelling and looking so clean after their "spa day". Thanks Fon Jon!

The best around! The staff is so friendly and helpful, and they treat the dogs (and cats) so well. We love taking our dogs there, and they love going there!

My dog loves going to daycare/boarding here. They take such good care of my pet and I never have to worry about her when she is there. Always comes home so happy! The staff there are amazing as well! Highly recommend!
