7Cool spot to watch the sunrise, though if I would chose Garnet Peak next time.
Nice views. Deck for viewing, woodpecker and bird tree. Sitting benches, good parking, and on PCT (Pacific Crest Trail) in Cleveland National Forest on SunriseS1highway.

The Foster Point trail is a very easy gentle ascent of a couple hundred feet, since it begins at 5500 ft elevation, and is only 3/4 of a mile in total distance to the view. We had the trail to ourselves on this unseasonably warm November day. The trail is peaceful, and I found the blackened trees, remnants of a previous fire interesting. This is a great trail for kids, and older folks who still like to do a mini hike. The brushy plants do crowd the path at times, so long pants and long sleeves would be wise. Make sure you continue directly forward when you get to the Y on the trail. If you go to the right, you end up on the Pacific Trail which does take you to a similar ridge view as Foster Point, but will take you a bit longer.
The views are beautiful across the desert mountains ~ all the way to the ribbon of blue of the Salton Sea! Pictures posted just do not do it justice. This is a Big Bang for your buck mini hike!
Outstanding view of the desert valley, and even more beautiful when surrounded with snow.
Awesome views. I would say this is medium hike.kids can come depending on age probably 8 and up.
No major elevation to walk up. Much easier hike than others I've been on and I'm not a hiker
Burnt Rancheria Campground to Foster Point via Pacific Crest Trail: 10.1miles /1,122ft /4hrs 46mins with two little kids (8yrs and 6yrs). Trail was easy (just long) and lots of shades. Super windy at the end of the trail, but scenery was amazing. Foster point has beautiful view, but there were one point with gorgeous panoramic views
