If I could give them a 0 stars I would I flew in for a business trip and was expecting a car that I reserve through Expedia when I arrived I was met with a line of people being told that there were no cars available and I didn't reserve it with enough time. The gentleman before me had reserved a car over a month in advance. The rep then offered to call the company next door and they had cars available and when we arrived were told it would cost triple the price to rent a car through them. I was told by the rep at Fox to call expedia for a refund and they will approve the request. I submitted a request and it was denied due to Fox rental car stating that I did not show to pick up my rental car and providing proof that I flew into that airport and a receipt for pick up from an uber from in front of the location at the time was suppose to pick up the car was not enough. I warn anyone thinking of using this company to look else where as they will leave you high and dry and take your money in return.

Made a reservation and I wanted to let them know my husband would be driving, they would not let me do it, them I am listening to others and they are making them add the "optional" insurance. I tried to do a new booking, was told it would be $300-$1000 for a two day Rental! Nope I left went to AVis instead.

I will NEVER rent with Fox Rent A Car again. After being ASSURED they would wait for me and my 6 year old until we got there—just before they closed—we showed up on time and the doors were locked and lights out. In addition, I called and received no help and had to rent with another company instead. When I finally did get in touch with someone they refused to issue a refund since I didn’t show up—which I did. It was not how I wanted to start a vacation with a 6 year old after hours of traveling at 12am.

I am giving one star because I was almost overcharged by selecting the prepaid gas option and then when I went to drop off the car, the attendant had me waiting for 15 minutes at 11 o’clock at night while she helped one customer and took her sweet time and had no sense of urgency. Another attendant walked in and ignored me while I stood there. This was after he charged the wrong card accidentally. They should ask the customer how they want to pay (this is a customary question.) Dropping the car off should not have been so hard Ontario branch.

This location requires international drivers to have an international drivers permit, even if your license is in English. This information is not provided in the email confirmation or in the list of items you need to bring to the location. Very frustrating experience. The IDP requirement is ridiculous.

Awful experience. Trying to get us to buy unnecessary add on insurance, and trying to add on extra driver charges when these had been paid in advance was an unpleasant and unnecessary experience. We were even told that we could go elsewhere for a car, when we clearly had a contract with them (via Europcar). Not one of the extra insurances being pushed for us to buy was required by law, nor necessary at all. They play on your lack of local knowledge to try and extract more money from you.
We got a battered old Kia as a result.which was fine and worked perfectly.
Returning the car was a doddle by comparison.
I cannot recommend this company (or this practice of extortion) and will not use them again.

We reserved a Jeep Compass or similar all wheel drive as our travels included Mount Laguana. We read all the fine print and the poor reviews. Should of requested Expedia change car rental company.

What was told to us when we arrived at counter:
1. They have no all wheel drive vehicles.
2. They never have Jeep Compass, they were discontinued.
3. There is nothing they can do, they are unable to guarantee all wheel drive even if that is what is reserved.

No rental car at 9pm PST.
We saw in the reviews how they say how the minimum California insurance is required, we heard the agent telling this exact thing to the customers in front of us. We did our research, there are minimum liability limits and our car insurance easily meets them. The agent doesn't say anything to indicate that your own insurance might cover i and then the daily charge can be added on to your cost.

We definitely do not recommend Fox rental.

FYI- Car rental companies pass on their airoirt charge to each customer for a convenience fee. That charge was an extra $146.00.

Not a review of this specific location but Fox Rent a Car in general. My flight was cancelled due to severe weather, re-booked for arrival 24 hours later. Fox told me there was a 12 hour grace period after which my PAID reservation would be cancelled and I would no longer have a car. So even though I was not asking for a price adjustment and was OK with paying for 4 days and only driving the car for 3, they were unwilling to extend the grace period and hold my car for me an extra 12 hours. I asked the rep if that was good customer service? She responded "yes" because she was following the policy. I beg to differ!

AVOID! Thought I would ignore the negative reviews and rent from here due to the low price for SUV's. Reviews are true, they have hidden fees, and try to downsize your rental.

Upon arrival, customer service kept insisting I upgrade to a luxury car or mini van. Kept refusing. They also signed me up for insurance even after I told her I had USAA and they cover rentals.
Found out later I was charged $59 for insurance after refusing.

When I went upstairs they told me to pick a small or mid sized car. Lady downstairs crossed out SUV on my agreement and wrote intermediate car without me noticing until upstairs rep told me.
Told them I reserved an SUV and showed email from Fox. After talking to them for 10 mins I was given a Jeep. With some body damage, they never charged at drop off, but have never had a car with so much damage.

After drop off I was charged $129.00 for tolls and insurance but I avoided all toll roads and lanes.

Called customer service and got a partial refund on tolls but they claimed I rang up $70 toll charge in 4 days of car mostly sitting. They refunded these charges after complaining. Still won't refund insurance

Avoid this car rental at all costs. I rented through expedia and the final price will ALL charges was highlighted on the receipt. When I walking into the office the ladiy said she is charging me the insurance and gave me story that its the law in Californnia that I buy thier insurance. I told her that I have insurance with both my credit card and my car insurance at home in BC, Canada. She said I needed to show her proof. I have been renting cars form Avis, Budget, with no such requirement in California. This was just a week prior.
Then I want to pick up my car and it had dents and scrathes all over it. It was the worst car I have rented. I can't believe this type of operation can stay in business.

WARNING: DO NOT RENT HERE. Waited in line for two hours just to be told that I could not have a rental car after I reserved one online with a credit card a week in advance. The agent was rude and made no attempt to help. Wasted my entire afternoon and ruined my trip to San Diego.

They closed before my flight got in, didn’t have any hours posted or any explanation as to how they could be the only rental car company closed when they let you select your pick up time. All the other rental companies were open. Never rent a car from here

Did not hold the car I had booked. Charged me a huge upgrade fee without my consent. Even though I had paid online and with explicit statement that there was zero due at pickup, they would not rent me the car unless I paid several hundred additional dollars. Ridiculous.

Absolute Scam Artists! I paid for my rental through Expedia including insurance. When I get to the rental location, the lady goes over "my coverage". I agree because that's what I paid for through Expedia, except what I'm agreeing to is paying them for their coverage which added $700 to my rental. I only know that after I look at my credit card statement. I go back to them and they tell me I signed the agreement so they won't give me my money back. DO NOT RENT FROM THEM!

So, our flight was delayed which means the car rental place was closed (1230a) we had to purchase a car from National which was more expensive amd we only needed the car from National until later that same morning. Well FOX wasn't trying to give us anything when the flight delay was not our fault eventually after minutes of back and forth we were finally given the rental with a free upgrade and a free gas. They were trying to charge us more for an upgrade because they didn't have any mid size vehicles available, again our flight being delayed was not our fault why should we have to pay more money on top of paying Natioanl car rental for a "day". Yes we got what we needed in the end but the service was still awful.

Watch out! This company advertised cars as available when they are not! Even after we reserved a car that WAS NOT available, this company continued to advertise the same car was available. We were stuck at the airport without car.

DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY! Absolutely a terrible experience. The car itself was fine but I was tricked into paying $800 more. I payed full coverage on Expedia and when I was asked if I wanted full coverage I said yes because I already payed for it. They ended up charging me through the company even though that was not part of the agreement and charged me way extra. Tried to call many times but never got an answer so when I arrived at the company I tried to sort it put and only got a small discount. Never again!

Not enough inventory to satisfy customers who were expect a compact car and not a battleship. Drop off/return attendant at 7: 30 a.m. Was overwhelmed by more cars than one person can reasonably handle. But pick up and return were fast to say the least. So, good arrival service and so-so return.
